Denton County Court Dress Policy

I've got no problem with the policy but the one about leggings is kind of funny. It sounds like you could have leggings that don't cover your butt in which case they would be disallowed. Those would be some very exotic leggings.  (I assume they are talking about a top not covering a gal's rear end while she is wearing leggings.) And when is the last time you saw the word "derriere"?

It is truly a sad statement of our society that the court is having to post something like this. People used to know how to dress for things. Not any more.

As for the leggings, I am wondering if that means that the woman's shirt must cover her derriere? That is probably what is meant here and is not any exotic type of leggings.

I'm consistently amazed by what people wear to court.

Me: "I thought I mentioned wearing your good clothes."
Client: "These ARE my good clothes!"

Personally, I would never show up to a courtroom without dressing nice, but I do believe there is an issue with personal freedom being stepped on here. What right does the state have to tell you how to dress if you've been legally obligated to show up in court, ESPECIALLY as a witness or a juror?

And lots of the people this notice is aimed at probably would need the word "derriere" defined.

Clearly discriminatory against Newark residents. Wear a slayer t shirt with skulls.

The sad thing is the majority of your readership considers this policy to be uppity.

So chaps are ok?
Bathing suits, ok?
Burqa, check.
Hijab, check.
Flowing robes, check.
it's all good in Denton.

"NO clothing with offensive language"? Isn't this blatantly unconstitutional under Cohen v California?

If this was the policy of Walmart, it would reduce 98% of their customer base. I'm all for it.

Is this something that they can actually enforce?

RHOME FORWARD.....NOT THIS YEAR...NOT THIS NEW COUNCIL
it's almost time for election season and Rhome is in trouble. let's review...first there was the rollback by Sam Eason (now on council) who said if the council wasn't wasting money they could live off the budget with 80,000 less..who now want's to borrow money and pay interest because he doesn't think he can live off the budget he created!! hummm...
now let's talk about the missing retirement money that the mayor has been writing checks to pay back without telling the public...to a tune of 126,000. total....where did the money go? why did it go and why haven't the public been informed? that is a total of 206,000 that could have been spent on the sewer plant, city hall remodel, roads, and other things.

why all the secrets???? Rhome Forward ran on the idea of everything being open and honest....it is anything but.

it was planned in last years election campaign on how to take over the voting in Rhome so that only the people they wanted in would get elected...did you know they are changing the way we vote? is it legal? is it open and honest when it was planned on how to do it in secrete meetings of Rhome Forward who kept saying they were only concerned citizens and not a PAC for almost a year, then finally admitted they are a PAC and had been almost that entire year.

lets go to if it is legal for a council member to hold political meetings with other council members and mayor to talk about how to run the city .... can you say violation of open meetings...besides just being underhanded and sneaky.

people better wake up and find out what is really going on and what is being done by who before they start backing candidates and voting this year or Rhome will be in such a mess that it will take 20 years to recover from.....smdh... people of Rhome stand up and make your voice heard!! tell them they (Rhome forward council members) that they can't just hi-jack your town, take over the elections and change our form of government without us, the citizens, getting a vote. after all if we were going home rule from general law they would have to have a couple of public hearings and then put it on the ballot for us to vote on, this should be the same thing!

Having served jury duty several times over the years, I can tell you that out of the 300 or so folks that are called in on a given Monday...at minimum, 10% are not dressed appropriately.

I don't see anything on the list about wearing underwear. Alright! Going Commando!

The problem with the dress code post is you are already at the courthouse when you read it.

STFU. Rhome is already a mess. Vote Colton Lorance!

If you have a choice between Rhome Forward or the old town inbreds, you're screwed either way Rhome. Do you want more BrandonDavis gestapo leadership, or wannabee high society Ellis leadership?

Must have missed something I though this was from the Denton court house not the Rhome outhouse. Quit trying to hijack the thread, duel it out in the street like real "gentlefolks". Isn't Rhome just a suburb of Newark any way?

Rhome needs a dress code. Loves truck stop is not the place to buy fashion.
