OU Racism News

They aren't messing around. The speed of this is a little disturbing and comes pretty close to sacrificing students in order to do university damage control:

And the kid, who has now been publicly identified. who was leading the chant graduated from a private Dallas school. They've issued a statement. Uh, that last sentence? How did the "unborn" get inserted into this?

Evidently Jesuit Dallas has dead people and unborn children as students.

Such a wide variety they teach.

Easy, Catholics are opposed to abortion and black babies are aborted at alarming rates. He was simply on top of his soap box.

Authorities can identify and punish a dorky frat boy singing a dumb song in private. The media really pushed for this identification and punishment.

Authorities cannot identify criminals who burned down and destroyed businesses in Ferguson and the media could not care less.

No justice. No peace. And I have not yet begun to fight.

The University of Oklahoma needs to be shut down. This needs to go all the way to those responsible. All colleges, maybe?

Bottom line is that you are no longer permitted to have outdated opinions in our free society.

Black Panthers can stand in front of the polling stations in Philadelphia on the day Barack Obama is elected president and physically threaten any white people who vote McCain.

The attorney general of the United States refuses to prosecute.

But some immature frat guys sing a racist song and they get punished severely.

I guess everybody is going above and beyond to keep Al Sharpton out of town!

"But you can't hold a whole fraternity responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole fraternity system? And if the whole fraternity system is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our educational institutions in general? I put it to you, Greg - isn't this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do whatever you want to us, but we're not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America."

"Death of the Unborn"

Pretty sweet name for a metal band.

Generic official apology letter?

So a child conceived out of wedlock cannot be called a bastard until he/she is born?

Pretty sure you're still allowed to have outdated opinions in our free society, you just have to be aware that there are consequences for having them.

You can have opinions and practice free speech. Just make sure there's not a nigger lover with a cell phone hanging around.

Soooo, let me get this straight, since OU has "zero tolerance" for racist behaviour, OU is going to do away with "Black only" campus organizations, that make no bones about only assisting Black people.

or not.

The unborn part was a mistake. He meant to say a clump of cells.

The black guy in Ferguson that grabbed the microphone in front of of an angry mob and yelled, "Burn the bitch down" so far as I can tell, is still a free man and was never jailed for inciting a riot.

He was not a member of a national social organization with specific rules regarding that behavior in order to maintain membership nor was he living on a college campus that is state funded nor was he living in a dwelling on said campus.

Every college hate speech code reviewed in the federal courts has been struck down as being in violation of the First Amendment. Important distinctions between "hate crimes" and "hate speech" have to be made.

Briefly, hateful expression does not necessarily constitute an unlawful "threat." Many court opinions have defined the word "threat," and they typically distinguish between provocative or boorish expression (typically protected by the First Amendment) and true threats, which may lawfully be punished. Additionally, courts have held that the perception of a threat must be "objective" (that is from the standpoint of a "reasonable person"), not the subjective impression of a complainant.

Most cases involving hateful language on campuses do not involve physical threats, but rather demeaning, hateful expression.

For example, in a 1993 case, a circuit court ruled that George Mason University’s decision to sanction a fraternity for sponsoring a racist and sexist "ugly woman contest" violated the First Amendment. The university clearly had an interest in maintaining an environment free of discrimination and racism, but the court said the university went too far in punishing expression because it is merely hateful.

Instant Karma's gonna get you,
Gonna knock you right on the head,
You better get yourself together,
Pretty soon you're gonna be dead,
What in the world you thinking of,
Laughing in the face of love,
What on earth you tryin' to do,
It's up to you, yeah you. ...

2:39 said "Pretty sure you're still allowed to have outdated opinions in our free society, you just have to be aware that there are consequences for having them."

This statement is misleading on a number of levels. First, what constitutes an outdated opinion? Let me answer that one for you -- it's your own opinion that decides what is outdated. Second, a free society would tolerate what Parker Rice and his cohorts said (chanted) and any institutionally-driven consequences show that we do not live in a free society.

I can't believe I have to break this down for you, but then again, I can't believe this politically correct view of things has gone as far as it has.

We don't punish people for telling Polish jokes or for blaming Jews for the world banking situation. We don't punish people for telling blonde jokes or for saying that women generally make for poor managers of men. Although, I imagine there are those who would like to punish more of these "outdated" points of view. So, 2:39, sadly enough, you are not alone in your confusion.

We live in a world of idiocy and something happens every day now that proves it. Thank you for the opportunity to show how political correctness is being used to limit freedom and to further establish tyranny of thought in the United States.

When the blacks are called out then and only then will I respect ANY white getting in trouble.

I think this is just a bunch a pent-up anger being let out. A lot of students are just upset that a group of rich white kids get to flaunt their status in such a disrespectful way, and I can't blame them. The group mentality fraternities encourage is often hurtful to an increasingly powerful minority population. I have little sympathy for an establishment that relishes its antiquated ways of thinking, yet stubbles as it's being left behind.

I expect Eric Holder to announce an investigation directed at both institutions by midweek.

Regarding the 'unborn' digression, 2:04 nailed it.

If it had been a left-leaning institution, the clause would've been "and to be free to love whomever they want", just like in every 2012 DNC speech.

Such are the times.

Most racists, rapists, sociopaths/psychopaths, and power hungry control freaks explained in this 1.5 minute video:

Racism will always exist. If, through hundreds of years of interbreeding, a nice neutral brown color is reached, then tall people will discriminate against short people and vice versa. Those who believe that "progress is being made" and that the purpose of society is for the human species to evolve into a kind of all-knowing, angelic brainiac who is willing to share everything he owns are fooling yourselves and making life miserable for the rest of us. Just as you say you will continue to fight for equality, there are plenty of us who say we will continue to fight for freedom. Calling us racists, rapists, sociopaths/psychopaths, and power hungry control freaks is a straw man argument and simply insulting. Freedom.

10:35 Funny how media (especially FOX NEWS always says things like: We need to put troops on the the ground; We need to fight ISIS; We, We, We. There are many factions of "We." Are we fighting for freedom of the people or for the continued power and wealth of the elite? When a politician mentions anything about being one of the people they are lying. And all politicians lie.

Racism will not always exist. Read about the transformation in one of my earlier postings.

Well said, 10:35.

147,

I watch Fox a good bit. The vast majority of folks I hear on Fox are adamantly opposed to more troops on the ground.

Perhaps you need to actually tune in.

It does seem like President Boren short-circuited any student conduct disciplinary hearing.
