Random Thursday Morning Thoughts

  • Photo of Granbury woman who set record for breast milk donation.
  • I never been in an HOV lane.
  • Police are at again -- shooting a man in Lewisville last night.
  • Jane Roe, of Roe v. Wade, has cut a commercial saying "Do not vote for Barack Obama. He murders babies." There's nothing like a well reasoned and thoughtful opinion to sway the masses.
  • What a crazy motorcycle death in Decatur this morning -- but the motorcyclist survived.
  • I kept seeing some commercial which would ends with a gal singing "This girl is on fiiiiiirrrrreeee."  I just realized that's Alicia Keys
  • I predict the cold front will hit at 3:15 p.m.
  • Texas' "Rainy Day Fund" now has $8.1 billion in it. To me, that means Texans are overtaxed.
  • Mrs. LL is going to be out of town this weekend and asked me what I was going to do. I broke out into the "Wobble" dance in response. I don't think she was amused.
  • BagOfNothing posted a video of a "bounce pass" in football (a lateral that looks like a pass but which bounces once before it gets to the receiver.) You old timers help me out. I remember that play being run in a game in the Cotton Bowl one time. It was the exact same line up, but when the receiver "caught" it, he stomped three yards back in disgust like it was an incomplete pass before turning and hurling it down the field. Anyone?
  • Lots of talk of a homeless man body-slamming a guy "on PCP" who was attacking a cop. Channel 11 had the story but there seems something suspicious about the video. There are several seconds missing and the cop doesn't look to be in that much distress when we finally see the homeless guy finally with his hands on the attacker.
  • The only way I knew the World Series was on last night was when I switched over to Fox 4 to watch the news.
  • Colin Powell has endorsed Barack Obama.

Police are at it again, yep protecting the public defending themselves and puting thier life on the line. Your an idiot

The RG girl is extremely hot. Good job, sir.

Police are at again -- shooting a man in Lewisville last night.

Don't you mean the bad guys are at it again??? The police didn't ask for that, the turd did and the police were called to deal with it.

You beat me to it on the Roe commercial. Say what you want about it, but she speaks the truth!

Colin Powell is an idiot. I bet he wasn't dumb enough, though, to say why he endorsed him this time, since his last reasons for endorsement did work out too well.

The rainy day fund was needed for education after the Republicans gutted it. More teacher and staff layoffs because of it.

Anonymous said...

Colin Powell endorsed Obama in 2008 without knowing anything about him. Its not surprising that he would endorse him again.

Anonymous said...

Who knew Colin Powell was racist?

Hey Kiddos!

Mitt Romney will help your parents prosper therefore you will get toys.

Obama will make sure your toys are given to someone else.

Obama believes in taking from hardworking taxpaying parents and giving to the lazy, non-working, freeloading, baby producing welfare parents.

Sounds like an old A&M play. But it doesn't sound like it was on an extra point, which was their schtick.

So I guess the police should not be allowed to protect a business and possibly others when they are called about a man brandishing a gun on their premises. When the man pulls the gun on the police I guess they should not be able to defend themselves either. Should they just let themselves be shot, or are you saying they should not have responded to the incident in the first place?

I really do not understand your complete hatred for police. Sure I bitch and moan when I get a ticket or even get pulled over but we are talking about protecting the public from real criminal shiate here.

Colin Powell endorsing Obama -
I'm just gonna go with the most obvious joke here: "Bros before Mo(rmon)s!"

If you had been paying attention during the commercial, you would have heard the VO guy say that it was Alicia, then deduce from her powerful voice that it was Alicia Keys

Your second entry is missing a verb: it should read, "I ain't never been in an HOV lane."

"Texas' "Rainy Day Fund" now has $8.1 billion in it. To me, that means Texans are overtaxed." I agree! And the legislature won't touch the money. Last session, they cut education rather than reach into the RDF. Crazy! That's not conservative!

I just wonder which banks are profiting from that stash in their vaults, and I'd like to see how much money they have donated to various campaign funds.

We need to study the statistics: Number of "suspects" shot by the cops vs number of cops shot by suspects.

I bet it would be clear that the police aren't in all that much danger.

Folks in Wise Co. should recognize the election is in the electoral college. Texas is certain to go to Romney so vote or not here. The actual election will depend on Ohio and/or Virginia.
BTW what do you think about the tea party candidate in Indiana who says if a rape victim gets pregnant it is God's will? And Romney still endorses this goof?

Damn, Bubear...no love today. Lot's of idiot comments.

I wonder why those folks come here and post.(?)

The incomplete lateral that turns into a run or pass downfield has been around a long time, but became more popular when artificial turf started being used. Artificial turf gives the QB and receiver a nice, predictable bounce no matter where you are on the field. The play works on real grass too, but the bounce is much less predictable because there are more variables with a surface of natural grass.

If DHS had turf, they could add this play to their arsenal of 6 plays.

Until we have been out on the streets trying to keep someone from doing something unlawful, I don't think we have a clue what policemen go through. Unless proven different, I trust them to do their job the best they can. When you don't know whether the bad guys have a gun or not, I think they have to do what they need to, to protect themselves!!

Baylor Too said...

@ 10:00. Nope. It means Romney and his peeps are getting desperate.

"Here is Powell's description of Obama's qualifications:"...his ability to inspire, because of the inclusive nature of his campaign, because he is reaching out all across America, because of who he is and his rhetorical abilities..." Powell said Obama had "style and substance," but he couldn't list any of the "substance."

As true now as it was when I said it in 2008.

11:17 and you think Obama gives a damn about you and yours! He has proven he will gladly sink jobs and disrupt industries if it falls in line with his agenda! Obama does not want more jobs he wants to balance a high tax rate on wealthy individuals (55-75%) against sinking millions of middle class folk into government dependency. This way the dems win on two fronts, you secure the future of your party through massive entitlments and in turn you kill off many of the industries that are viewed as harmful to the enviroment and that lobby against you. To go full on "green" you have to step back considerably from where we are at now and cut consumer spending dramatically. It is the European model, how you folks cannot see this is beyond me.

Let's see, Obama:

Reversed the depression caused by the previous administration, slowing it to a recession and although we're not out yet he has turned it around;

Obama got health care reform passed, a legacy so large that Bush Jr. wishes he could have matched it;

Obama saved the American Auto manufacturers, without the bailout foreign manufacturers would have an even bigger share of the market;

I'd say that's bigger than anything any president wordkyle loves ever got done.

The problem is that wordkyle doesn't like these things, so despite the fact that they are substantive, he wants to ignore them or call them huge mistakes. We were headed for third-world status and losing so many jobs the counters couldn't keep up in the waning months of the Bush administration. How any president could have polished that turd in four years is beyond me. One thing is for sure, though, giving the country back to the same people who got us in such deep trouble the first time is not the way to go.

Rage, poor baby. Of course someone like you would say that. You are a follower aka poor me Democrat/Liberal.

Any competant, economically experienenced leader could have.

Oh wait!!!! There's one running for Presdient! A professional leader who is the clear choice over an incompetant community organizing bafoon who thinks he's a rock star instead of doing his job as president of the USA. He's a loser.

R 49% O 48%...
R 47% O 46%...

Rage, I don't recall Romney working for Bush? Obamacare is highly damaging to small business, and will likely increase taxes dramatically in years to come...that is even backed by liberal economists.

The auto bailout was a band-aid at best...wait a few years and see how well organized labor does with a bigger piece of the pie. When labor demands all the profit then you really have no reason to go on as a business.

There was no "depression" only a recession. Free market is always cyclical. I see you are willing to trade free enterpise for economic socialism (spare me the fire/police rhetoric) so we will see how that works out.

You might be the dumbest liberal of all, because you don't just want free shit, you actually believe these are wins for Obama. I would have more respect for you if you were just wanting a welfare check and an Obamaphone.

In bailing out GM, the GM bond holders were basically ignored and got totally shafted. In the case of GM, the bankruptcy proceedings pretty much told the bond holders, "Sorry...no money for you...thanks for playing" and with the governments help and funding, restarted the company. Folks that held GM bonds were told they could recycle the bonds by using them as TP.
