A Gift From God
I don't think anyone wants to touch this.
Republican Richard Mourdock, candidate for Indiana's US Senate seat said Tuesday during a debate that when a woman is impregnated during a rape, 'it's something God intended.' He was asked during the final minutes of the debate whether abortion should be allowed in cases of rape or incest.
To be fair, he's saying that the life was intended by God, not the assault. Nevertheless, I figured the guy would get pummeled for the remarks. Then radio commentator Mark Davis said the guy was absolutely right and had the courage to say it. I thought there would be a fairly big firestorm after that, but everyone pretty much has let it go. I think it just makes everyone uncomfortable.

Good grief, the GOP is run by idiots.
When Obama gets reelected, I want all of our fundamentalist Republican friends to remember that it was God's will.
Who is Mark Davis?
I don't get it. Are you saying that abortion is a good thing? Are you pro-abortion?
What is it with these fundamentalist Republicans anyway?
So many of these folks spew Scriptures as if they are trying to convince themselves of what they believe.
You are right 11:04.
I'd be ashamed to be a Republican.
Radical. Controlling. Fanatic.
What logic! If rape pregnancies are God's will, are holocausts, wars, disease, ignorant people also God's will?
No government leader, dictator or elected official serves without God's permission.
The authority for this is the Bible, not just my opinion.
11:05 Agreed! The bible did warn us about an antichrist.
Rape is of the devil and the left definitely fit that bill due to the belief of taking what they want no matter what from others.
Remember those two teenage boys who strangled that girl for her bike? That’s the typical Democrat and Liberal mindset. I WANT WHAT IS YOURS.
LMAO
The GOP is ran by idiots? Realllllyyyy.....
How about big pink VAJAJA's
How about Binders?
How about Big Bird?
How about not knowing what state you are in?
How about a president who is a disgrace to the oval office?
How about a president who is the most unprofessional president in the history of ever?
How about a president who admits the economy wasn't his priority the first two years?
How about a president who watched 4 Americans be killed overseas and did nothing.
How about that cover-up of guns given to criminals?
So could list many more but, in fear that your head would explode from hearing the truth, I’ll digress for now.
GOP is full of morons. Anyone with a brain knows there is no God.
UppityHonky.
If its God's will that the woman gets raped and has a child then the Rapist should be set free. Why? God told him to do it right? If the woman instead of having a child went and got an abortion then that was God's will too. He controls everything right? so it is not murder to kill the unborn child. Therefore both rape and abortion is okay otherwise God would not have allowed it to happen.
That is why what Mr. Murdock said is beyond criticism because God wills everything, including what Mr. Murdock said.
Anonymous comment above:
Points #1-3 - Proves negatives about GOP and further shows their lack of emphasis on the arts (as unneeded).
Point #4 - almost everyone campaigning has done this
Points 5-6 - opinion
Point 7 - 2 active wars, just how it is
Point 8 - 50 Marines (FAST team) sent. So you recommend a knee jerk reaction? Like a WMD invasion of Iraq?
Point 9 - guns for criminals. Shouldn't you be talking about phones for Welfare recipients?
I'll be the judge of what it takes for my head to explode.
Fools. There is no God.
12:36 - since you have little command of good English, some would still stand by "R's run by idiots"........
Not "ran"..........!!
12:36, thanks for making 11:04's point.
GO, JOE! In Ohio, Biden Talks About All the Ads Being Run 'Here in Iowa'...
In Colorado, President Says He Wants Wind Turbines 'Manufactured Here in China'...
'Where's My Plan? I Couldn't Find My Plan!'
So... you are for abortion, right?
How about big pink VAJAJA's
Keep it classy.
How about Binders?
Romney brought up those binders.
How about Big Bird?
Romney brought up Big Bird.
How about not knowing what state you are in?
Romney is in a state of denial. Denying his lack of conviction. In his limited political career he's taken both sides of abortion, gun control, taxes, tax rates, contraception, mandated healthcare and PACs.
How about a president who is a disgrace to the oval office?
Be more specific. Clinton's BJs? Bush's $5 Trillion on 2 wars borrowed from China? Reagan ballooning the debt? Bush's TARP? Obamacare? Obama's TARP?
How about a president who is the most unprofessional president in the history of ever?
Thomas Jefferson having sex with slaves and Nixon/Watergate would have to be up there as the most unprofessional.
How about a president who admits the economy wasn't his priority the first two years?
I guess it took Bush 8 years to destroy it and Obama has had 3.7 years to fix it. Great point.
How about a president who watched 4 Americans be killed overseas and did nothing.
We've lost thousands--not four--in Bush's 2 wars, and our fellow Americans are still getting killed. Which 4 did you care about more than the others?
How about that cover-up of guns given to criminals?
Yes, I remember, Obama personally gave AK's to those prisoners leaving Huntsville.
If the GOP could rid themselves of the antiabortion crusaders, Romney would win this election in a landslide.
Abortion will always be legal. And if some miracle were to happen (e.g. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade) folks could just hop on a plane and end their pregnancies in some other country. I guess these places could be called abortion "havens".
My Goodness people! Even if it was God's intentions, I am sure a criminal act was not God's Intentions to create his intention!
1:07, So grammar is more important to you than the fact that Obama is running our country into the ground? Good grief man, you would be worried about making your bed while your house was on fire!
1:16...thanks for making my point, all style, no substance.
A gift from God.......
I think this mornings RTG qualifies.

PS -- STFU Loser Liberals
None of you shalt be around after the 21st of December, after the 2012th year of my Son.
People, have you forgot my lesson already? God gave Man free will. Rape is an act of free will. Ergo, life created by rape is not an act of God. Now, somebody bring me a cigar. Let's watch some home movies.
DF Pastor Gene Scott
Hey 1:40 You believe exactly the same don't you. Typical left.

Life begins at conseption and who is it that gives life? (God) no one is an accident. And no one should take the life of another.
I'd rather believe there's a God and find out there's not than to believe there isn't and find there is.
"He's a Bullshitter"....he mean't Donald Trump...that is the top of the heap when it comes to being completely full of himself and full of bullshit...i like saying bullshit, because that's what is leading our once great land.
4:31
OMG, life does not begin at conception, it begins when that embryo can live on its own. Until then, it is a parasitic mass of growing cells.
Maybe if we would give out free birth control, we wouldn't have to have this pointless argument.
Even one better: stop teaching that sex is bad, evil, or shameful, and start teaching our kids (and understanding as parents) that sex is going to happen, and they best be prepared to prevent the unwanted pregnancy.
That means condoms or birth control pills for those of you that have girls...
1:40, sweetie, last time I checked, Mitt Romney was running for president, not George Bush.
The woman's body, the woman's choice, especially if her body was violated in the creation of the pregnancy.
Now excuse me while I study the New Testament while I decide who to vote for.
Revelations is sooooooo confusing. Seven seals? Maybe relates to seven wives? Ok, that means Romney.
I am no longer undecided.
where does King Obamma play into this revelation business..is he one of the 7 horsemen???
To All Democrats and Liberals (Young and Old)
I have faith that you know there are two sides to every story.
I have faith that you seek the truth and have fact checked everything you’ve heard from the left.
I have faith that you can think for yourself.
I have faith that you, as an American citizen are educated enough to know basic economics to know how serious the economic crisis is for this country and the uncertainty the future holds if an effort is not made to fix it.
I have faith that you are not voting for someone simply because they are a cool cat who promotes free social programs.
I have faith that you will do the right thing for millions of Americans who are depending on you.
So, I challenge you to take the remaining days left before the election to open your minds, eyes and ears. Spend time, as much time as you can with Republican and Conservative TV, radio, friends and family. Hear what they have to say. I'll bet you find out that what you've been trained to believe is not true.
I dare you.
I challenge you to hear the truth.
9:24: Yeahhh, ok. Can I expect the same open-minded exploration from you?
Also: How does that address this blog post?
My eyes and ears have beheld an absolute shit-ton of flabbergasting words from Republicans -- not fringe elements, but the "mainstream" elected lawmakers and candidates of the party -- about rape. This vile swine is just one of many. The words that they say are in public and on the record -- not a "Well I heard ol' Joe McRaperson said blah blah blah," but the ACTUAL WORDS spoken by these ACTUAL PEOPLE, which in fact express their ACTUAL OPINIONS.
I challenge YOU, sir or madam, to think through why you give these guys (and the occasional Lady Republican) a pass for these things that they are saying. What makes this OK? In what world can this guy Mourdock and all his fellow-travelers be the right choice for the American people? It's insanity, pure insanity, and it scares the living hell out of me.
Some 44 years ago, on the 7th of november 1968 actually, my wise old uncle made a statement about politics and the American electorate that I thought at the time was quite profound.
He said: "It isn't the stupid SOB's that are in office that is our problem... it's the Stupid SOB's that PUT them in office that are going to kill us!" I could not agree more.
My uncle was a staunch Republican , but he was also a realist and a pragmatist. As such, he had voted for Kennedy just the day before.
As of this day, and after perusing these comments, I fear I must pronounce Wise county the most determinedly ignorant county in Texas. Texas being very close to capturing the title of most determinedly ignorant state in this union.
(It is utterly amazing to me that the laws of physics would permit this much dumb in just one sector of just one planet in this entire universe!!)
God gave the abortion doctor the skill to end unwanted pregancies so the humanity wouldn't suffer from the acts of those unwanted and abused children when they became adults. Right?
While I agree with your uncle and your thoughts, Kennedy died in 1963 so I don't know who your uncle voted for in 1968.
