They took it away from us, retained a ginormous cut, borrowed some to put with it,then doled out a pittance back to us, in an inefficient manner, and distributed it to an unlevel playing field chock full of ridiculous stipulations, and for largely ineffective uses. Govt operates that way all day long. And we continue to allow it. I cannot wait until they are even more involved in our healthcare. It will be wonderful.

Hey 10:59 you are correct. It is our money to start with but I think the point was HOW it is being spent. Maybe schools would be better than gunboats and tanks for deputies. The Sheriff's office in my county couldn't find it's ass with both hands. They don't need anything bigger than a pee shooter.

A good example of why we are bankrupting ourselves. Lucky for me, and for many of the other 1%, we will be taking our money out of the country with us when we retire and leaving behind our US citizenship and a $15 trillion debt.

But that's okay. Let's give the cops a rowboat and a pea-shooter to investigate crimes in a marine environment where they are generally isolated, and subject to ambushes.
Barry, I don't know all the facts on this. But at least I'm trying to learn, before making knee-jerk pronouncements.
