The Intoxication Manslaughter case is now in the punishment face, and I'd like to predict things are about to get ugly.
He has four prior convictions for DWI (none of them felonies for some reason) and this jury took only 20 minutes to convict him. (And they didn't even know about his past trouble.) Throw n the fact that he didn't care enough to show up for trial today, this will not turn out well.
The range is 2 to 20 and up to a $10,000 fine.
If you want to bet on the maximum, I'm right there with you.
Edit: Verdict came back and .......... The Maximum.

Bet he is already on the run or has or will kill himself.
Hopefully he's out looking for his dress blues and a quiet out of the way place.
common sense is alive and well in wise co.
way to go , jury.
The max is more than justified with 4 priors and total disdain for the court.
Already in custody and had one felony prior.
Good.
Nothing positive can come from drinking and driving.
I drink and drive all the time . Been arrested 5 times. No convictions. All thanks to my awesome lawyer Barry S. Green.
The Backdoor Intruder
With FOUR prior DWI convictions, one new DWI and one intoxication manslaughter conviction did Allred REALLY leave any option but to sentence him to the maximum?
Someone with Allred's record would make me hand down the absolute maximum sentence because there is no reasonable expectation that Allread would not, given the chance, drive while intoxicated and perhaps, kill, again. At this point, the incarceration of Allred is not for rehabilitation purposes or merely punishment but to protect Allred and the public from a criminal who has proved, numerous times, to have absolutely no regard for the law or the safety of himself and others. It would be irresponsible to EVER allow Allred the opportunity to, again, drive while intoxicated.
Sounds very well deserved. It takes a lot of effort to not show up to court for your trial on your 4th DUI. It is a tough job to not care about others and endanger other people for alcohol dependence. I mean, why quit drinking and driving, he hadn't killed anyone....yet.
Shut up Mzchief !!!!
hmmm...Allred was not there for the sentencing, but was found at home and taken to the hospital for dehydration??? Isn't that what actually causes hangovers.... dehydration,........due to tooo much alcohol in the system??
Man should have had 20+... forever, as far as I'm concerned!
If you're a drunk, you don't have to quit drinking, just quit driving!!
If you're a drunk, you don't have to quit drinking, just quit driving!!
7:30 - Sounds like all you have going for you is hating MzChief. You should take Mark Twain's advice.
“It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.”
Victim got the real maximum sentence. No trial, though. Not even a chance to say goodbye to anyone. And yet, the debate is whether the drunk was given a fair sentence. America.
8:44, shut up!
I don't know the facts of this case, but was the victim also drunk? Or was she mentally or physically handicapped and unable to decide whether it was smart to get in a car with someone who has been drinking? Or was she taken against her will?
I can definitely understand why he got a DWI, but I have a hard time with the intoxication manslaughter charge unless it's an innocent person in another car or unless the woman was in fact handicapped or kidnapped.
And yes, I have kids and I would feel the same way if one of them were the victim.
For once, I agree totally with Mzchief.
On December 21 2012 Mzchief will SHUT UP.
