- Whale attacks boat. (I wouldn't believe this photo, but it certainly is being accepted as real by every news organization.)
- The Irving mom who killed her two kids gave an explanation why she did it on her 911 call. I don't know if she is evil or as crazy as a bat.
- Anyone know of anyone that can replace a section of underlying flooring in a pier and beam house? Like for money?
- I don't have any trouble with Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich not taking the stand in his bribery trial, but his lawyer might want to take back "point[ing] dramatically to his client across the courtroom and pledged to jurors he'd take the stand" during opening statements.
- I was under a house yesterday. It's been a long time since I had done that.
- Jessica and Ashley Hart in bikinis. Who are they? Don't know.
- In the Texas Rangers bankruptcy court today,
General Manager Ron Washington will testify. Uh, why? - Greg Williams and Richie Whitt on The Fan yesterday (great show by the way), were talking about the crazy last meal that a prisoner executed in Texas this week ordered. But I can't find the story online anywhere.
- The Ticket's Gordon Keith ran into writer Stephen King while in Boston. (Pic.) I've never been a fan of King's books (other than Different Seasons which contained four novellas - three of which became movies.)
- Five horrific X Games crashes (and I don't watch the X Games.)
- Extended unemployment benefits (now available for two years) were reinstated by Congress this week and they will also be retroactive back to the first week of June when they were suspended. That's a pretty big check. Unless you're unemployed.
- Since adults are having trouble finding jobs, how in the world does a teenager find a summer job? Is that even possible anymore?
- Everyone predicted the exodus of Texas Tech fans after the firing of Mike Leach. But yesterday they announced they set a record in season ticket sales.

Unfortunately, unemployment is being turned into a welfare program by Obama and the Dems. Unemployment is supposed to last for a few months to help until you find a new job.
There is also supposed to be a time limit on it to encourage people to find a job. Now, that time limit is two years and the Dems keep wanting to add more to it. What encouragement is it for people to get out and actually get a job?
Why are the Dems doing this? That is simple. They are using this to buy votes in the election. They want the people to think that if they want to continue to get this unemployment (welfare), then they need to elect Dems.
The judge in the bankruptcy case better hope he doesn't make a call that Wash disagrees with. He might find the Old School Brutha all up in his face, screaming obscenities
Dude i will always be a faithful P1 and a devout Hardline guy, even though Corby sucks...but that Whitt and Hammer have something, Whitt is great, Greggo needs to work on the dry mouth and lisp a hair but good showw and i do flip over, does not hurt that they compete agaisnt Norm who completly whips my ASS to no end...god why dont he retire...

That's a whale of a tail...ah I meant tale.
Ron Washington is just the Manager not the General Manager, that would be Jon Daniels.
still with the top heavy women.. is there a fettish starting to show in your blog????
B+
Because the Court wants to know how bankruptcy go.
Unemployment, for the most part, is very much abused! I have come in contact with at least 10 people in the last year or so who have lost their job. They get unemployment and "that's enough." I have heard it out of their mouth that they will "ride this as long as they can." Why work when you can get free money???? While drawing unemployment, several men I know of have taken "under the table" jobs and been paid cash as not to mess up their unemployment check.
My husband offered one man a job, and he said he couldn't do it because he would lose his unemployment. Even though he would be making more money from my husband than what he was making from unemployment, he said he was content drawing what he got through umemployment! Time and time again I have seen that this program keeps a lot of capable working people sitting around and "riding the system" as long as it will let them!
Absolutely fantastic pic today! Good job sir!
And yeah, I am a big Ticket fan, but I have replaced BAD radio at noon with Richie and Greggo.
The requirements to collect unemployment were ridiculous too. I was out of work last year and was collecting unemployment. In order to qualify, I had to have only 3 contacts a week. A contact was considered any of the following: checking for a job on a computer, calling a company, mailing/faxing a resume, etc.
I usually had 25-30 contacts a week. I did not list all of the times I checked on computers or it would have been much much more. Sometimes, I even had so many that the State got suspicious.
Any person who is alive ought to be able to get 3 contacts a week.

Jim...??? "new fettish?" LOL!! You must be fairly new to the blog...the "top heavies" always seem to be the picture of the day here.
I wonder if Terrorist ever read this Blog?
I thought unemployment had been extended to 126 weeks, which is 22 weeks beyond 2 years, in the 1st place. And in the 2nd place, I understand that making the extension 27 weeks added to the 99 weeks that it had previously been extended to, and retroactive, makes 2.5 million people whose benefit had expired now carried thru November. Let's see, what is significant about November?...?...? Oh, yeah, the midterm elections! I WONDER IF CONGRESS OR THE PRESIDENT EVEN CONSIDERED THAT. Nah, I'm sure it's just coincidence.
Must be Gary Hart's daughters the guy running for something like vice president that got caught with a hooker on his boat can't remember her name.
It boggles my mind to read what people think/write about unemployment. Obviously, no one in their family or close friend has ever had to go through something like this. Getting a job you are qualified for isn't as easy as you think - especially when many jobs are given to their friends or family, and are already filled before companies ever post these jobs. I work for a large corporation and I know first hand that many jobs that are posted have already been filled - they just have to go through the "motions" to make it look like they are an EOE.
If you are older, even with a long strong work history, it's much harder to find a job if you have been laid off. If you are female, overweight, unattractive, or anything else that is legal discrimination, you are much less marketable.
I do agree with the minimal requirements for applying for jobs; however, 3 jobs/week has not been the requirement in years - it's more than that now so it must have been longer ago that you were unemployed. Most people I know who are unemployed submit 20-60 resumes, on-line jobs applications, and regular job applications per week. This decreases over time in some parts of the country for no other reason than there are not enough businesses to apply for. That isn't true in our area, but in some parts of our country, it's a fact.
I also know how much unemployment benefits are and there is no possible way anyone could live on it without a spouse's income, family help, etc.
As far as personally attacking those who receive unemployment benefits, this is completely unconscionable. How can you attack people who have put their heart and soul into their job/career for 25-30 years working their butts off - paying into the system that you now call welfare (which they paid more than their/your share into), giving to their communities, supporting their local businesses, etc.? To get laid off late in your career is a very hard thing - emotionally, financially, spiritually, and more. Your self-esteem goes down the tube. The more you get out and apply for jobs, the more you get rejected and you get up and start the next day the same way.
As far as the length of time to extend unemployment benefits, that could very well be - but to blindly make statements such as these on this blog without knowing the details of American's situations - well, that's plain ignorance.
As far as the one who posted that they knew someone whose husband offered them a job for more money than unemployment pays and the guy turned him down, I would gather that the guy either knew something about your husband that made him not want to work for him and was using that as an excuse or maybe he just hadn't been unemployed long enough to realize how little he was getting. Could be he's just flat lazy. More than likely, pride got in his way because if your husband approached him with the same pompous arrogance as you have written, he would have felt worse working for him. Whatever the case, he is in the minority of the unemployed and to judge the entire LARGE population of unemployed in America is just choosing to be uninformed and feeling of superiority. You may be in the same boat one day in the near future or it may be 30 years from now, but you WILL approach hard times - that, I am certain.
2:44, I just came off unemployment and it is only 3 contacts a week that is required.
2:44, you must definitely be a Democrat. How many times in that essay did you blame big business for everything that happened.
You need to get your facts straight. I was unemployed last year and that requirement was 3 contacts then. It has not changed in many years now.
Well said, 2:44PM, well said.
The Hart girls are Australian models.
What's really funny is that thedailyfix.com, where this (and more) pictures of them cavorting around, has an ad under one photo for on-line information for Lavitra and/or Viagra.
Like anyone would need them if they were hooked up with either girl.
My teenager found a summer job---right here in old Decatur! You just have to WANT to work!
Haven't heard Greggo on "The Fan"... but long before he was fired from the ticket, I thought he sucked. He lies and is full of crap.
2:44 - I appreciate your comments and I hope things go well for you in the future.
That is one trunk I could pack.
And 3:42( Scott ) You must be a rich Republican!
That was an excellent post 2:44. It's always so easy for people who are lucky enough to have a job and make a comfortable living to sit back in judgment of those who don't.
DAGO;2:44 you are so full of shi*.i dont know how you stand your own breath. Here are two examples I know of personally.Number one called his boss a dumb SOB.Guess who got laid off?He is on his third extension now,not looking for work and has an ignorant desperate wife with a job.Number two wrecked a motorcycle in front of a cop with his ho onthe back breaking her leg and a pistol fell out.Had a little dope on him so a feloy picession.next was caught with a hundred pounds of dope and another pistol.did two years in segovill.lastly was caught drunk with a minor in the car.lost his CDL's.He isn't looking for a job, just the mailman. The list could go on and on but a stupid shi* like you wouldn't beleive it anyway.
If they would send all them meskins packin and whitey was lookin for a job instead of a position there would be plenty of work to go around. WTF is wrong with people? If I really needed to work(which I don't) I guarantee you i could find work in just a few days. All these twenty five year career people should have been planning an exit strategy instead of tryin to keep up with the Jones' and live within their means.
