Getting Better

The Aggies are struggling. I remember being a senior in high school and going down to Waco with a group of friends and watching a Baylor win. And I sat in the in Kyle Field in the 1980s to watch a Baylor win in a rainstorm that would probably fill Lake Bridgeport. Since then, wins have been almost non-existent. But I'll be honest, the Aggies loss in stature is far more shocking than Baylor's minimal rise.

Yep, as an Aggie I can say, "they's havin' a baad year"!

On the other hand, as a Baylor Law School grad--hooray for the Bears!!

Speaking of "sports action" this Saturday--the Lady Eagles CC Team are the 3A State Champions again!! They convincingly won with a score of 27 (15 is perfect and low score wins). Second place Llano's score was 85!! That makes six State Championships that the Eagles have won in CC (evenly divided 3 and 3 between the boys and the girls teams)!! Go Eagles!! For a decade, the CC program has been Decatur's PREMIER athletic program, and those distance-running athletes are some of the hardest working athletes on the planet. They really deserve some credit for their efforts.

One more win and the bears may get an invite to the mashed potato bowl.

The Aggies are going to be bad for many years to come it looks like. How would you like to recruit to that place. You have LSU, Texas, Texas Tech, TCU all who have been much better than you in the last couple of years. Too many other great programs to mess with the Aggies.

I think even North Texas would beat the Aggies this year.

A sincere congrats to the Decatur girls CC team. Utter domination. Now, hopefully in the next few years a team in Wise County can win a championship in a sport that matters.
