The "joke" that is going around of "What do Barack Obama and John Kennedy have in common?"
is tasteless, shocking, and certainly not funny.
If anything has come of this election is that the conservative base (the good ones) received a little bit of an eye-opener as to who they share that corner of the philosophical world with. And that should scare them.
Edit: Just saw this. Makes it all very real.

Skippy, please give us the punch line. We all love good comedy.
The real eye opener is who the liberals keep company with but it isn't scary as long as I have my guns and religion.
Barry...If you think conservatives have the corner on racism or they are the only ones telling tasteless jokes, you are either very naive or stupid. The haughty, above it all attitude of liberalism is what turns many people off to your ideals.
I'm a conservative Republican. And I'm the first to admit that the WORST thing for this country is for something to happen to Pres. Obama or his family. That REALLY does not need to happen! I hope the Secret Service does a good job protecting him, and I hope the nutcases in this country just "stay away"!! 'Nuf said.
The Conservative movement has always had the problem of excluding those with whom we share some of the same values, but who hold other views that are anathema to decent people. Real nazis, racists, etc. (not just those who have been called such by Liberals) have no place within the Conservative movement.
I oppose Obama's political viewpoints, I believe America made a mistake in electing him, and I think Americans will regret their choice. I do NOT wish ill for him in any way other than politically, and most Conservatives feel the same way. The racist and violent jokes that spring up offend me more than they do Liberals, not just for their stupidity but because Liberals want to paint me with the same brush they use on the joke tellers.
The question is, when will the Democrat party exclude the crazies on their side?
OBAMA IS THE ANTI-CHRIST YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!
That was the most blatant attempt to start an argument I've ever seen on this blog.
We're all doomed.
Wordkyle - I agree with you. The Democrats should exclude the nutcases in their party also, or admit they are lurking within it.
Our county now has two groups who call themselves Democrats (at least, I think this is still the case) - folks just can't get along.
And some folks don't want to be involved with the Republicans either. Some of them are over the top religious nuts.
My answer is just don't go to the meetings.
So I don.t
Word:
You were one of the many on this bolg that said he wasn't a real American and doubted his patriotism. You and the Conservative base (which included your VP Nomination)playcated to the crazies in your party and now our leader must not only face real problems affecting the country, but must contend with the conservative "he's the anti-christ, non-patriotic" President of our country.
You distancing yourself from this is a complete joke. Your credibility is as much in question as Denney Crane's is.
Until we can discuss issues without the hyperble of code words and the questioning of patriotism were are going to solve nothing.
Botttom line there are some really ignorant people amongs us and we the majority must see they don't get to the front of the line.
Reality is that no single word describes a group. Of ten issues I would be considered conservative on four but liberal on the other six. And I usually choose candidates based not on a single issue but on three or four.
337 - At best you are completely wrong, at worst you're a liar who tells lies under your anonymous cover.
I defy you to find a single instance where I have said "Obama is not a real American."
You are the type of loon the Democrat party has attracted. You feel free to make an accusation without anything to back it up because as an "anon" you don't have to face consequences for your actions -- the foundation for Liberal thought in America. You are the reason I fight Liberalism so ferociously. Congratulations.
if obama does get his head blown off it would cause this country to come apart at the seams...there would be race and class wars within hours, it would be the worst civil war in world history, whose side would you take..????
4:05 - you make very good points.
There is both liberal and conservative in all of us if we are honest about ourselves.
I believe our new President will make a serious effort to be inclusive of Republicans and seek out the best of them to help him build his administration.
And likely some Democrats will be the first to criticize him.
Well just let em'.
I never noticed it before but thtat bush has some nice jugs.
What a great picture. Wow, Michelle is really a tall woman.
Thanks for posting this Barry!
421 - You said, "I believe our new President will make a serious effort to be inclusive of Republicans..." On what do you base this belief? There is nothing in his past to indicate such a stance. Obama has been completely partisan his entire career. I'd like to know why you think such a thing.
Wordbile you have spewed so much sewage from that pie hole of a mouth over the last few months that like Denny Crane you have ZERO Creditability.
Your persona is also the mask or appearance one presents to the world..... (yours should be a snake) It may appear in dreams under various guises (see Carl Jung and his psychology). Importantly, the persona, used in this sense, is should not be a pose or some other intentional misrepresentation of the self to others. Rather, it is the self as self-construed, and may change according to situation and context. But you and Denny have no real life so must make one "self important" ... Very Very sad.
Like a poltergeist ... "Back under the rock you hence came" and I splash you both with holy water ;)
Wordkyle, I read something today that Obama may keep three of President Bush's folks on - and that they are Republicans.
Check it out for yourself.
You just like to argue.
I don't. Takes too much energy and at my age, I need all of that I can get.
Someday, you'll understand.
:-)
WOrdByle
As I recall, it was you who questioned his citizenship (real American) and again criticized his association with Terrorist(s) and again the unpatriotic way he didn't place his hand over his heart when the national anthem was played. My deduction Barrack Obama is an unpatriotic un-American Citizen.
Here's a little piece of advice for you, go play with the kids in your own neighborhood (if they'll have you) and leave Wise County Politics to Wise County. I think you have done enough damage here.
Isn't it funny how liberal weenies can write books and make movies about killing Bush, call him everything, and call for his impeachment for war crimes and be serious but a simple joke about their Messiah is totally off base. What a bunch of thenthitive easily offended hypocrites. Hurry up 2012. This reverse racism is killing me.
454 - ummm...what's your point? Other than using a few Psych 101 buzzwords, you haven't moved the conversation along at all.
Can we safely assume that you're a Liberal?
508 - Your recollection is incorrect, and I don't discuss Wise county internal matters.
503 - If you're older than I am, you are ancient indeed. My estimate of what Obama will actually do is based on what he has done before, not on what he says. I'm funny that way.
I agree with 4:24. The current first lady is way more endowed than the next first lady.
Yes, Wordkyle, 5:03 is ancient and pretty experienced.
Listen to the voice of the old and give Obama a chance.
You might even find you have more in common with this young man than you think.......
....and is he younger than you?
0 0 - eyeballing this through my glasses!
I admire WordKyle, not because I agree with him but because, unlike most of the cuckoos who comment here, he has information to back his beliefs, as extreme as some of them are. And please get off your high horses and stop deriding him for doing the same thing you're doing which is making the mistake of thinkng your opinions are the only ones that count. At least he has the balls to do it with his name attached.
This blog is a microcosm of the American political system. It's "I'm right and you're wrong and you're an idiot because you don't see things my way." We need to start collaborating and compromising if we're going to have any success in solving our country's problems. Quit being so damned petty.
old lady obama looks like a trany
"The racist and violent jokes that spring up offend me more than they do Liberals"
On what do you base this belief? It is all well and good to state your abstract objection, but there have been numerous racist, violent jokes among the comments here and I have yet to read your challenges to any of them.

Laura Bush models the lastest ensemble from the "Eleanor Roosevelt Collection of Fine Women's Apparel and Undergarments"
Meanwhile, President Bush amuses those assembled with his ever present impersonation of "Yosemite Sam".
740 - I gave the reason for my comment.
620 - What kind of "chance" should I give Obama? My opinions will not affect him one whit. However, I do believe the old -- older than both you and me -- that "actions speak louder than words." Obama's actions in the past have shown him to be completely partisan, no different from any other extremely Liberal politician. There is no reason to expect him to act any differently now.
Make no mistake, I would love for America to prosper and be secure during Obama's term. However, his past actions -- once again -- don't convince me that he's capable of such a thing. (How did Chicago's schools turn out with Obama running the Chicago Annenberg challenge?)
Check out the column in yesterday's FWST by Bud Kennedy about the shape we're in by electing the new constable as a result of Wise County straight ticket voting. Sound scary!
--Republican who did not vote straight ticket
6:58, Word is always happy to get a helping hand. Way to go! Maybe Word can give you an enhanced
"Word Cigar" cause he seems to enjoy smoking and putting things in his mouth or abouts. You are a Great American!!!
Word:
Straight party ticket voting came because too many bought into the same trash you spew on this blog and it gave us a weirdo like Tom Bishop. Your "Byle" fed the freinzy of uneducated voters and instigated straight party voting. Don't get me wrong, Barry fed into the flames by allowing it.
Now please go away and start affecting your own local politics.
8:00
You are right. Laura Bush is dressed sorta like Eleanor Roosevelt. She definately could use an uplift in undergarment. GWB looks as if he is waiting for some one to shout 'DRAW', but as my husband always says... " he means well"....and I really kinda like Laura,....but I'm really EXCITED about our President elect. I think he is extremely intelligent, open to listen, and is going surround himself with bipartisan knowlegable people to advise him . Let's all give the man our support!!!
By the way...I forgot to ask 7:06
'Old Lady Obama looks like a trany'
What is a trany?.... 'Old lady Obama'? As a 70 + yr. old woman she is a 'Wippersnapper' to me.
9:02
You gave no reason for your stated belief that you object to racist, violent comments more than liberals. Nor, conversely, did you respond to my observation about your silence to those who post such comments on this blog.
As I recall, however, you did once equate Hate Crime legislation with "special rights".
Make that a 'Whippersnapper'
Geeze......70+ you'd think I could spell...........NOT
Liz,
I wouldn't worry about it too much. After all, 7:06 doesn't know how to spell "tranny". Interesting, though, this commenter is oddly familiar with the term......
1052 - I'm typing this with crayon so you can understand: I'm "more offended than Liberals" because the jokes are offensive in and of themselves and then I am accused -- as you are trying to do -- of agreeing with the joke teller. Thus the phrase "painted with the same brush." And "conversely" (sic) people who post such things do so only to provoke a response. I try not to feed trolls.
And "hate crime legislation" is redundant. Crimes should be punished regardless of the criminal's motivation, not because of it.
1012 - Are you saying that I am the reason for Tom Bishop's election? You give me too much credit. (I can't believe that you Liberals are using a guy's past actions to determine what he'll do once he's in office. You didn't even do that with the top of your ticket.)
Now, now Wordkyle, in a post up above you tell us that Obama's past indicates his actions in the past have been completely "partisan"......
....yes, that is about Obama that is your opinion based upon your hallowed "research"...
..don't come in here and tell us Wise Countians what to think about the past actions of Tom Bishop. Yes we are using his PAST actions to determine what he will do in office.
You do the same with Obama.
I really see no difference in general thought.
733 - Good grief. No wonder Obama won.
I was pointing out your inconsistency. You guys did NOT judge Obama by his past actions, yet you DO judge Bishop by his.
You can judge, think, or whatever about Bishop. I don't have a dog in the fight, so I don't care. Consistent thought, however, would require that you do the same for Obama (that "top of the ticket" reference I made earlier.)
(And don't bother quoting Emerson to me. I'm referring to a wise consistency.)
Wordy, you dish it out but can't take it all that well.
Try some sensitivity training.
5:55
Apparently you are able to type with crayons but can't be bothered to move a few keys to confront racism on this blog. Odd, coming from one who makes the incredibly pompous statement that "The racist and violent jokes that spring up offend me more than they do Liberals". More than liberals? Really? You are MORE offended "because the jokes are offensive in and of themselves"? Gosh, talk in circles, much?
Hate crimes are not simply "punished because of the motivation". Those who have been found guilty of a hate crime may receive additional sentencing because certain crimes are considered especially henious. If the status of the victim is of no consequence, I assume you oppose enhanced penalties for those who murder a police officer or rape a child?
950 - The crayons didn't work. You are now officially a troll.
1) I listed two reasons why I am offended by racist humor. That's one more reason than Liberals.
2) Children are protected in our society because they can not care for, nor protect themselves. You appear to be comparing blacks and gays to children. I find that point of view offensive.
Hate crimes are based on the criminal's motivation for the crime, not the status of the victim. That's why those laws are redundant. A murder is heinous (a typo on your part, I presume?) regardless of the victim.
Word.
Report to camp 6 in Kampung Pancur, Malaysia for re-education.
That is all.
Bob Dobs
1109 - I know you're a fake because Bob never uses his last name when he communicates to me.
The Dude abides. Slackness in action.
Mr. Obama is soon to be our next president and Ms. Obama our next first lady. This is a fact. Whether or not you voted for Mr. Obama does not matter at this moment in time. Get over it. Everyone needs to respect the office of the president and support our new president. We need to support him and our government and only hope that he leads us well. Surely everyone would want this because if he fails, we are the ones who pay. My message is simple.
10:58
1)You object to being painted with a big brush and then make a ridiculous statement that YOU are more offended by racist jokes than liberals. I'll just let that irony stand for itself.
2)And yet, I can't quite bring myself to view spray-painted swastikas and burning crosses as just simple acts of vandalism. STATUS of the victim (real or perceived) as well as motive are factors in determining if a hate crime has occured. That blacks and gays are victims of hate crimes is a matter of fact. I don't consider that a "special right" as you do. My point about prosecution of crimes against children and police officers was clear, so I see no need to address your flaccid attempt to twist my meaning.
1058 - 1) um, yeah.
2) The comparison with crimes against children was yours. Why are they specially protected under law? Because of their helplessness. Now you want to back away from the comparison.
By the way, I don't think I ever argued that anyone had a "special right" to be a victim of a crime.
As I read your arguments, I understand the difference in our viewpoints. I see the victim of a crime as a victim, period. You want to focus on whether it's a black victim, or a gay victim. Viewing them as different is important to you.
Interesting.
TO YOU: 12:18
DID YOU DO THE SAME FOR...
GEORGE BUSH is our president and MRS. BUSH is our first lady. This is a fact. Whether or not you voted for MR. BUSH does not matter at this moment in time. Get over it. Everyone needs to respect the office of the president and support our president. We need to support him and our government and only hope that he leads us well.
My message is simple. I BET NOT!
Wow 204...you are a hot head and very quick to judge without knowing the facts. Actually I did say the same and I have defended Mr Bush all along. Don't jump to conclusions. As I said, my message is simple. ALWAYS respect the office of the president. My message is very simple and I hope you get something from it.
1:50
When someone is targeted for a violent crime solely on the basis of their membership in a particular group, it is not simply a problem of criminality. It is also a problem of society. I think it is worthwhile acknowledging that fact. You do not, so we shall just have to disagree.
And yes, you cited Hate Crime legislation as an example of a "special right", which leads me to conclude that you have a perverse sense of what constitutes a right, special or otherwise.
As this blog is called "Liberally Lean" and you are a conservative who has stated your disinterest in the workings of Wise County, I rather think that makes you the troll here.
NONPARTISAN POLITICAL JOKE
While walking down the street one day a US senator is tragically hit by
a truck and dies.
His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.
'Welcome to heaven,' says St. Peter. 'Before you settle in, it
seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these
parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you.'
No problem, just let me in,' says the senator.
'Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is
have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose
where to spend eternity.'
'Really, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven,' says the
senator.
'I'm sorry, but we have our rules.'
And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down,
down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a
green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.
Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him,
shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people.
They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and
champagne.
Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who has a
good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that
before he realizes it, it is time to go.
Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises.. The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him.
'Now it's time to visit heaven.'
So, 24 hours pass with the senator joining a group of contented souls
moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns .
'Well, then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now
choose your eternity.'
The senator reflects for a minute, then answers: 'Well, I would never
have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell.'
So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to
hell. Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren
land covered with waste and garbage.
He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and
putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above...
The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder. 'I
don't understand,' stammers the senator. 'Yesterday I was here and there
was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank
champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there's just a wasteland
full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?'
The devil looks at him, smiles and says.......
'Yesterday we were campaigning. Today you voted.'
we'll see.....................
We're all doomed.
540 - All victims of crimes are targeted because they are members of some group. Old people are chosen because they can't defend themselves. Women are chosen because they are physically weaker. Rich people are chosen because they have money. They are all chosen as targets because they are members of a particular group.
The primary choice the criminal makes is to commit a crime. Regardless of the target, the decision to commit the act is what impels the crime. Laws are meant to discourage someone from making that decision, and to punish those who do. If a person has chosen to commit a crime, then further laws are immaterial and redundant.
You could be correct that I referred to this subject as being "special rights." Sometimes I get caught up in the terminology used in the discussion. As I clearly stated earlier, I don't consider being the victim of a crime as a "right." However, I don't remember saying it, and you seem to be very sure of the fact. Can you refresh my memory as to exactly when I said it? A date would be great. I'm sure you have it readily available.
As for my being a troll, I address issues that interest me. I present my point of view in a way that contributes to the conversation, often to the outrage of Liberals (who, most people will admit, hate Conservatives who fight back.) I try to rermain cordial as long as I am treated cordially. At any time, if our esteemed host asks me to quit posting, I'll stop. (Get that e-mail campaign going, Liberals!)
A troll is someone (such as yourself) who ignores what I have said three times, in an attempt to portray me as a bigot. That's not moving the conversation forward, that's trying to provoke an emotional response. That is, trolling.
In most cases, when someone is a victim of a crime there is a tangible pay-off for the perpetrator. If the victim is "old", a "woman" or "rich" that might inspire the pay-off, but it is not the point of it. When someone is a victim of a hate crime the pay-off is the mere fact that the victim is a member of a particular group.
I'm not going to do your homework for you. Look up your own comments.
You didn't use the term "troll" because you wanted to move the conversation forward. You used it to shut down someone who disagrees with you. You used it to inspire an emotional response (as you frequently do). Since you don't engage trolls and since you have continued to engage me, I suppose you should rethink your characterizations.
903 - The "payoff" for a rape or an assault is what? The point of robbing a rich person is to get their money - and the rich person is chosen because he has money. Regardless of the victim, a crime has been committed and the criminal should be punished. Liberals emphasize differences among people much more than Conservatives do. Liberals derive their power by promoting divisiveness. Hate crime legislation is merely an attempt to further that agenda.
From your certainty of what I had said, I assumed you had the information at hand. If we're relying only on your memory, then the point is still in dispute, isn't it?
I said I try not to feed trolls. I make exceptions when I get to point out the fallacy of their arguments. Your classification came when I had to answer your question three different times. I eventually realized that your obtuseness was intentional.
