Random Tuesday Morning Thoughts




Lot's of nostalgia here. (1) Here's the story about the paintball event referred to, (2) That "Wise County Problems" account still exists but hasn't posted in years, and (3) Decatur and Bridgeport actually used to play each other -- Decatur won over the winless Bulls, 52-7 in 2013.

  • Breaking moments ago: Jenna Ellis is pleading guilty in the Georgia attempted coup case. She is literally pleading guilty to spreading The Big Lie. That "Elite Strike Force" team of lawyers really turned out to be something. 

  • I present to you the 327 most civic-minded people in Wise County: Those who vote on the first day of early voting for constitutional amendments.

  • Another day, another bad wreck in Wise County. This one last night around 6:30 on FM 730 just south of Boyd.  

  • A crazy158 car pileup in Louisiana yesterday new New Orleans.  

  • Oh, my. "An off-duty pilot who was in a jump seat in the cockpit of an Alaska Airlines flight on Sunday was charged with more than 80 counts of attempted murder after he tried to cut fuel to the engines, prompting the plane to divert to Portland, Ore., the authorities said."

  • He didn't give back the $3 million from the West Texas Oil Man PAC whose leader met with a neo-Nazi, but he did try this gesture. (No word yet whether the Decatur candidate who received $55,000 from them will give that money back. )

  • There was a time when we all understood how dangerous words like this are. Heck, it would have disqualified you from any race. Video. And what exactly is "our religion" anyway? 

  • We've lost our minds. This is right out of the The Handsmaid's Tale.

  • This judge, who refuses to follow a clear Supreme Court decision, was featured in the Dallas Morning News this weekend. There was no mention that the County Judge over in Jack County tried the same stunt but his case was dismissed in federal district court. (He appealed to the Fifth Circuit but I don't think anything has happened on it.)

Random Monday Morning Thoughts




The Obamacare website debuted with disastrous glitches keeping people from accessing it. But the other news was, during the apology speech, that the pregnant lady in the red dress almost fainted and the President had to help her. Video. But that event served as a sign of the conspiracy generation that was dawning . . . 



  • For those who use the Wise County Sheriff's Office database for case statuses and inmate information, it has been inaccessible for over 72 hours due to another "security certificate" issue. Here's a work-around: Go to it in incognito mode on your browser. 
  • I want to know more about this which occurred on Friday night.

  • We still don't have a Speaker of the House. Jim Jordan failed again on Friday and now nine Republicans are vying for the job. What a cluster. 
  • We've had another plea of guilty in the Attempt To Overthrow The Georgia Election case on Friday by one of Trump's co-defendants.

    • He's an odd guy. According to this profile in the New York Times this weekend, he (1) graduated from Harvard Law, (2) clerked for a district judge, (3) bypassed the typical big firm route and went into solo private practice, (4) had a "liberal" practice by assisting in Gore in the Bush v. Gore case, and assisted plaintiffs in the tobacco industry cases, (5) struck it rich in Bitcoin, divorced his wife,  and then "acquired expensive homes in Boston and Manhattan, and a villa in Puerto Rico."  No really knows how or why he then turned into a MAGA nutcase. 
  • Sir! (And he's a former assistant D.A.)

  • Michigan State forgot to carefully screen a third party 15 minute trivia video, and ended up having to apologize for this image going viral. 

  • From the campaign trail
    • I honestly don't know how they do it without getting depressed.

    • Trump kept his campaigning to Truth Social. How can he lose when he has white Jesus by his side in court?

  • I'm not sure what I think about the official organization responsible for the training of Texas municipal judges posting a Halloween stripper scene without comment. 

  • I don't like this. If a prosecutor thinks the evidence is lacking to even send a case to the grand jury, they routinely kill it without taking it to the grand jury.  And just because a more provable case comes along doesn't make that past decision wrong.  But heads are going to roll regardless. 

  • I told you on Friday that lawsuit didn't seem to be going well. 

  • That lady in the crown almost got hit in the face on that homerun last night. And she knew it after the fact. Video. But what you can't see is another lady ducking down to her right who did get hit. She got the ball, however, which she'll get to take back to her job as an kindergarten teacher in Keller.

Random Friday Morning Thoughts




The government shutdown was over funding for Obamacare, but the GOP finally gave up. But look at that young and thin Ted Cruz.  

  • Highway 287, south of Decatur and all the way to the Wise County line, is a disaster these days. There's a wreck seemingly every day. 
    • Early this morning, southbound traffic before and after Rhome was shut down due to a wreck(s) with a traffic backed up for miles as it was diverted off the highway. 
    • Last night around 9:00 p.m. a motorcycle accident south of Decatur on 287 required an emergency airlift. 
  • The cartoon continues. They will vote again today at 9:00 a.m. CST for a House Speaker. There's no way Jordan wins, and I don't even know why they are going through the motions. They might want to try nominating someone who didn't try to overthrow the government. 


  • In the Georgia Election Stealing Attempt case against Trump and 17 of his co-conspirators, one of the biggest (and craziest) fish of all pled guilty yesterday. 

  • The last remaining case against Baylor because of the scandal has gone to trial in Waco. It's a Title IX case, and I'm not sure it is going very well for the Plaintiff.  Interestingly, she's now a Justice of the Peace in Harris County where she was elected as a Democrat. 
    Yep, that's Briles. 

  • Judge shot to death last night at his home in Maryland. Reports this morning are that police are looking for a 49 year old man who had a custody hearing before him yesterday.  


  • It was one of the running bits in the movie Idiocracy that all public signs were misspelled.


  • Buried in the news was a legislative hearing in Austin yesterday which heard from, based upon the far-right's insistence, witnesses regarding a community called Colony Ridge near Houston. The propaganda was that it was an illegal immigration haven where crime runs wild. It all turned out not to be true. 

  • Wannabe stormtroopers for Trump cost taxpayers a bag of cash.  

  • Oh, no! My award wining business investing show on CNBC, It's All About Warehouses, People™, might be in trouble.

  • Random high school score from last night: Mansfield Timberview 90, Dallas Sunset 0.  Sunset had minus 24 in total yards. 
  • Random fact from the Rangers game last night: Astro's pitcher Ryne Stanek threw only one pitch. And he was credited with the official win. 
  • Time which has passed since the Wise County Sheriff's Office, despite having a full male DNA profile, has failed to solve the murder of Lauren Whitener in her home at Lake Bridgeport: 4 years and 106 days.
