What Paris Would Look Like If I Rejected Her

I'm Too Mature To Laugh At This

If you happen to be a MLB color commentator you should know the difference between "tape" and "live" - especially if you're prone to drop an F Bomb. Youtube.com clip here. (Uh....F Bomb warning.)

Youth Football Coach Gives Player the "What For"

It's a CNN video so be patient. (And it looks like the coach didn't make out too well either.)

ESPN2 Gave Me Tired Head

Although the "normal" Florida State/Miami game was on ESPN last night, ESPN2 tricked it up with a krillion cameras giving rise to this multi-split-screen-I-thought-I-was-on-LSD visual.

Diane Lane Tuesday

No Thanks

Want to pay $29.95 plus shipping for a DVD about a bunch of rich, white kids (read "Highland Park") winning a state championship in football? Here. Amazingly, there was a full page ad for the DVD in this week's issue of Sports Illustrated.

Freak-A-What?

I've begun reading Freakonomics and, in a word, it is fascinating. A leading economist from the University of Chicago, in the most understandable of ways, tackles questions like "Why do drug dealers live with their parents," "Did Roe v. Wade have an impact on the crime rate," and "What is the true incentive of real estate agents?" And if you would be interested on why a daycare imposing a $5 fine for being 10 minutes late to pick up a child actually caused the rate of tardy parents to go up, then pick up the book. And every school administrater should read Chapter One. A couple of months ago a story broke about possible cheating on the TAKS test by teachers. Heck, after reading about a similar situation in Chicago, I think it might be true.

Baylor's Punter

Heck, he is the best athlete we've got.

Random Thing I Learned . . .

. . . when reading about Baylor's loss to the Great Lizards of Fort Worth: On Oct. 30, 1971, an announced crowd of 30,000 at Baylor Stadium watched in shocked disbelief as TCU head coach Jim Pittman collapsed on the sidelines. “I think we ran another play and we’re huddled up again, and the next thing we know the ambulance is coming out to pick him up,” said [Baylor's current Head Coach Guy] Morriss, a starting offensive guard for the Horned Frogs. Pittman died of a heart attack en route to the hospital, and the TCU team was told at halftime. I had no idea. Source.

I Always Wonder . .

. . . how much is eventually collected and how it is spent. I'm not sure we've made much headway in defeating this awful ailment.

Speaking Of Rain

It wasn't a bad moment this morning to wake up on a holiday to the sound of rain. (Of course, I had to get up to go to a Teamsters meeting and then to a Minimum Wage Protest March in honor of Labor Day.)

I Love Those Sweet Father-Daughter Portraits

I Don't Know

Kinda Interesting

One of the guys that was killed in the speed boat wreck at Lake Texoma over the weekend had a web site promoting his boat's speed.

"He Got Weed! He Got Weed!"

Texas has opened up as a 2 point favorite over #1 Ohio State for next Saturday's game. But somebody (allegedly) on UT has been a bad boy.

The National Weather Service . . .

. . . always makes reference to towns that I couldn't find on a map. Example is above. North of a line from Goldthwaite to Athens? That's the best description they can give me?

Now That's (Almost) A Good Day

Played The Tribute golf course in The Colony yesterday. Neat place in that it is surrounded by Lake Lewisville. And I was amazingly able to do the impossible: Avoid all TV and radio until I could get back home and fire up my TIVO'd Baylor and TCU game. Only to end up sitting on my couch, holding my Baylor Pennant, and having Big Barry tears roll down my Barry cheeks.

Oh, My
