Random Wednesday Morning Thoughts

One of the more insane stories that we've had.

  • Re: Trump's address to the generals flown in from around the world:
    • He's clear that he intends to use them against American cities:  "San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles. They're very unsafe places and we're gonna straighten them out one by one. And this is gonna be a major part for some of the people in this room. That's a war too. It's a war from within."

    • And there's this: "I told Pete, we should use some of these dangerous cities as training grounds for our military. National Guard, but our military. Because we're going into Chicago very soon. That's a big city with an incompetent governor. Stupid governor."
    • But as radical as the use of the military against American cities is, Trump rambled so badly from the start that the room full of generals had to come to the conclusion that he's simply out of his mind.  A couple of examples:
  • The federal government shut down overnight:

    • Most recent shut downs and their lengths:

    • Look at those hats on Trump's desks as Democratic leaders met with him in an effort to avoid a shutdown two days ago.

  • Dateline Denton. That was a quick grand jury review. The story notes: "The altercation continued in the 200 block of West Hickory Street, police said, which is where the gunman shot Ruff 'multiple times,' police said." I've heard some very disturbing things about the shooting.

  • TCU is a private school. The Texas AG needs to go back to any school.

  • Just when you thought you've seen it all.

  • Ted Cruz had one of the all-time misspeaks yesterday. Video.

  • You can take your gun into U.S. Post Offices now.  A Fort Worth federal judge is responsible for the ruling yesterday.

  • Kind of of legal nerdy stuff: I don't think a judge should ever start off an opinion by reproducing a note he received from the public.

  • Uncle Julio's on Camp Bowie in Fort Worth has run into a tad bit of trouble. Gift link.

  • Every time I mess around with AI the more convinced I am that we aren't going to survive what's coming.
