Random Monday Morning Thoughts

I'm not sure who #13 was for Decatur, but the linebacker from Kennedale is now in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals.  He never went to Baylor because the school's scandal would erupt in 2016, and he moved his commitment to Ohio State.

  • Wreck in Wise County on Saturday.

  • Sheesh.

  • A homeless guy was shot, and his shooter waited for police to arrive. As with almost all local stories these days, we don't have any details.

  • A gunman in Georgia on Friday tried to enter the CDC with a weapon because he thought that the COVID vaccine had made him sick. One policeman is dead.

    • Perfect.

  • "Tarrant County District Judge Megan Fahey granted Paxton’s request for a temporary injunction, barring O’Rourke and Powered by People from fundraising for the Democrats or spending money to cover their expenses. The order came less than four hours after Paxton’s office filed the petition."  This is clearly a First Amendment violation by the judge, and I fear she is simply scared to rule against Paxton. He has a history of going after such judges in the next election.

  • You see those things on the highway all the time, but I had never seen one stuck on an entrance ramp.

  • A right wing group got a hold of a video.of Arlington May Jim Voss berating a "preacher" at a  LGBTQ event in New Orleans in 2018. That was definitely some salty language.

  • Astronaut Jim Lovell of Apollo 13 fame has died. I had no idea he had a cameo in the movie of the by the same name.

  • Video of the aftermath. The news organization has been critical of Israel's mass killing of civilians in Gaza.

  • Trump's enemies are going to end up locked up.  It's over.
    • First we have an investigation over "mortgage fraud."  And the special prosecutor in the cases is Ed Martin, an election denier.

    • And James seems to also be the target of Trump's Justice Department in a separate grand jury investigation. She sued the Trump Organization in a civil lawsuit as AG in New York.  Mark my word, Alvin Bragg and Jack Smith are next.

  • Trump showed off a "Trump 2028" hat to the Azerbaijan dictator on Friday.

  • Trump is normalizing putting troops in the streets of the U.S.   First Los Angeles, now this.
  • The IRS chief was fired after he refused to turn over the records of illegal immigrants.

  • Here's an example of just how nutty everything had become.  A guy running for AG in Texas is promising to go after a particular individual.  In this case, it's the Harris County Judge.

  • No one can figure this post out from Saturday.

  • The (Weird) Business Second™. "Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices are expected to pay the United States 15 percent of the money they take in from selling artificial intelligence chips to China, as part of a highly unusual financial agreement with the Trump administration."

  • If you want to see a Facebook video of a drone showing the traffic backed up on FM 51 in Decatur for the first day of school, here ya go.
