The Campaign For DA

Random Friday Morning Thoughts

  • I don't have any trouble with George Stephanopoulos’ $75,000 donations to the Clinton Foundation just like I wouldn't care if Chris Wallace donated that amount or more to the Heritage Foundation. But I do have a problem with Stephanopoulos just last month being dismissive in an interview with Peter Schweizer (the author of a new book which is critical of the Clinton Foundation) without Stephanopoulos disclosing the donations. This might turn out to be a Brian Williams/Dan Rather type problem.
  • WBAP's Hal Jay (who yesterday said he had to Google who Harriet Tubman was and found out that "she is considered a hero . . . (pause) . . . by some") said this morning that the national media has an "agenda" while WBAP and local media do not.
  • I'm surprised that Amtrak doesn't have technology which automatically slows down a train as it goes into a maximum 50 mph turn. And have it where that technology cannot be manually overridden. There would never be a reason for a train to exceed the pre-set maximum speed for a particular turn.
  • Dallas Morning News today: "Editorial: Time to redouble crime-fighting efforts."  Isn't "redouble" an odd word?
  • DPS, who is certainly willing to call attention to your mistakes (i.e. speeding, defective license plate light, expired registration) has on more than one occasion this spring written to legislative leaders to whine about upcoming newspaper articles that they expected to be critical of the top brass of the agency and/or point out they may have outright lied to the legislature this session.  The DPS Director is Steven McCraw, and he appears to be about as good at his job as Roger Goodell is as commissioner of the NFL. You pay McCraw $183,498 a year (which, I assume, doesn't include the value of insurance, benefits, and pension that go with government jobs.)
  • B.B. King died overnight. My limited musical appreciation had me thinking about his performance with U2 of "When Love Comes To Town" in the documentary Rattle and Hum.
  • Remember a few days ago I mentioned the alleged Dallas "Craigslist" killer who was on trial for a second time for capital murder after the first jury could not reach a verdict. Well, yesterday a second mistrial was declared when that jury couldn't reach a verdict as well. Last sentence in the article: "The DA's office said the case is scheduled to go to trial again in September." You kidding me? Three points: (1) You guys in the DA's office have had two attempts at this and couldn't get it done. You really think your duty of "not to convict, but to see that justice is done" is being honored? (2) How on god's green earth do the prosecutors believe that guy actually committed the murder? Those facts don't support that and two juries have told you that by not being able to agree. You guys are guessing if you believe it to be true. Pick up a book on Michael Morton and actually think about your responsibilities instead of just picking up a government check as a potentially innocent man's life is destroyed along the way. (3) OK, the Supreme Court has said, amazingly, that it is not a violation of Double Jeopardy Clause to retry a man after a hung jury.  But has there  been a ruling on when there are two hung juries?
  • Junior In The House to me last night: "Have you ever heard an elephant sneeze?" I was expecting to be shown a video, but she just wanted to ask the question.

Amtrak does have that technology. It was disabled. Nancy Pelosi blamed the Republicans.

The U2 and B.B. King performance in Rattle and Hum was actually filmed in Forth Worth at the Tarrant county Convention Center.

When Dan Rather was on CBS he was transparently biased in favor of Democrats and it showed. I recall 20 years ago he spoke at a fundraiser for the Democratic Party in Texas and not a whole lot was said outside of what limited conservative media existed at the time.

Rather had to get the point where he was using forged documents to smear a Republican president before CBS had no other choice but to reign him in. No one was really holding him accountable for anything.

You liberals may whine and moan all day long about FOX News and Rush Limbaugh but the rise of conservative media in the past 15 to 20 years has acted as a watchdog on the liberal media.

That having been said, Stephanapoulous (or however his name is spelled) will probably survive this, having only lost the opportunity to moderate next year's GOP presidential debates.....which is no real loss, seeing as how he only asks questions from the left anyway.

That is precisely the complaint that everyone has about George Stephanopoulos. I don't care what groups a reporter donates their time and money to, but the issue comes in times like this when he has this author on his show and works so hard to dismiss everything in the book.

When you consider his donation, along with all of the time that he spent working with the Clintons, he cannot be considered truly objective on anything regarding them.

As for the trains, the technology to do that was mandated several years ago by the government and was supposed to be installed by the end of the year. Many railroads, though, are saying that they won't be able to meet that deadline. They are saying the equipment is too expensive.

The train did have that installed but, it was switched off.

SMH what an UN-educated man you are.

I wonder what percentage of ABC staff are registered Democrats. 20 year or so ago before we had FOX and I was frustrated with bias news reporting I walked into the Dallas County office where voter records were kept and looked up the names of reporters from the Dallas Morning News. There is not a record of who they voted for but there was public record of the party primary they voted in. Of the names I found, all voted in the Democrat primaries and not one in a Republician primary. From that I concluded that the Dallas Morning News would not hire a person who was a Republican. That reminded me of the political leanings of the news media in Hitler's Germany. CBS, ABC, NBC?

Dallas Morning News used to have a well-known editor named Paula LaRocque who still lives in Dallas and is a well-known writing coach.

I've read her books, and they've been very helpful to me. I friended her on Facebook and liked her professional Facebook page, both of which turned out to be filled with far left drivel, pure hatred of conservatives.

One day, after not saying anything for about a year, I participated in one of her threads and pointed out all the social harm LBJ's Great Society has caused (disintegration of the traditional family, rise in crime, etc.)

You would have thought I was a neo-Nazi the hysterical way she reacted to me, going on and on about how what I wrote was beneath contempt and despicable, etc.

She unfriended and then blocked me.

So, if you're trying to filter out the leftists who work for that newspaper then there's one for you.

Did you see her voting records by any chance?

"When Love Comes to Town" is the only thing that comes to mind when I hear the name BB King.

Well, wait. Maybe there's a diabetes testing ad, too.

I guess putting on this technology didn't qualify as a 'shovel ready job' that our esteemed politicians (democrats & republicans alike) spent a Trillion $ on in 2008.

Say i can afford to hire a good defense attorney bc i am accused of murder. Mistrial happens. Then retrial. Now i am broke. I am now forced to use a lesser attorney. Sound fair?

Regarding the newly required controls for the out of control train, I did hear just this morning, that they were just now going through the required control install, but not finished yet.

Forget Amtrak, the money would be better spent on a device to keep the Rhome City Council from going wheels off.

That is the most ignorant thing that has ever been posted here and that speaks volumes.

Saul Alinsky's writings influenced all liberal "Socialist" in political control of our nation today.......he and Joseph Goebbles are "Liberal's" two foremost admired favorite propagandist.

Recall that Hillary did her college thesis on his writings, and Obama lionized his hero, the quintessential "community organizer" in ALL of his palgerized (written by Bill Ayers') books.

All socialist agree that there are eight levels of control that must be obtained before you are able to create a socialist totalitarian state. The first, fourth and sixth are the most important:

1) Healthcare; Control healthcare and you control the people.

2) Poverty; Increase the poverty level as high as possible, poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them to live.

3) Debt; Increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes, and this will produce more poverty.

4) Gun Control; Remove the ability of the people to defend themselves or resist tyrannical rule

5) Welfare; Take control of every aspect of their lives (Food, Housing, and Income)

6) Education; Take control of what people read and listen to and take control of what children learn in school. Maoist style Indoctrination

7) Religion; Remove the belief in God from the Government and schools...remove any hope that isn't government bestowed.

8) Class Warfare; Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. This will cause more discontent, and it will be easier to take (Tax) the wealthy with the support of the poor.

Does any of this sound like what is happening to the United States?

Alinsky merely simplified Lenin's original scheme for world conquest by liberal's beloved Communist Socialism. A religion directly responsible for the murder of over 160 million human beings. Their National Socialist brother's murdered another 30 million. Only liberal's most beloved religion of Islam, tops them all with over 270 million butchered, just Hindus alone over 80 million murdered in the name of Barry's Allah.

Stalin described his converts as "Useful Idiots." (Sounds like something we have just been hearing lately regarding how Obamacare was passed). The Useful Idiots have destroyed every nation in which they have seized power and control.

This agenda is presently being promoted by Obama's liberal minion demon-slaves, as they attempt to form their "new and improved" National Socialist Totalitarian State...If people can read this and still say everything is just fine, they are Totalitarianism's useful idiots.

With his guitar named Lucille, B B King sang and played his way out of the Mississippi cotton fields. Without cotton there would be no B B King or Elvis Presley. That is were the music revolution started.

In her book The Silencing, Kirsten Powers, a Liberal Democrat, tells about how blinded Liberals can be by their ideology:

"In my early days at Fox, I can remember trying to convince a conservative there that George Bush’s nomination of Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court didn’t really count as a female appointment because she was conservative and an evangelical Christian. He was horrified. I was confused as to why he would be horrified."

Powers calls those who have that mentality the "illiberal Left." They don't even realize how crazed they've become. They think of themselves as normal, and anyone to the right of their craziness as extreme.

I'm pretty sure Amtrak does not have those controls. I spent many years riding that corridor, and there is no sense of programmed speeds through the curves. It is a horrific tragedy. And we need to spend money on these things instead of wars. Hippie love and unicorns, Mental P Mama

Lowlands, such as the Philadelphia Amtrac curve, are also where electro-magnetic pulse is most likely to occur...We predicted that the East Coast would be subject to more electro-magnetic pulse, and this has occurred. Pulse causes brownouts but also surge, as occurred in the Amtrac train...The New Madrid zone in N America is awakening.--Zetatalk
