Unwed Teenaged Mother Earned Over Quarter Million Dollars For Supporting Abstinence

In 2009, Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol joined a teen pregnancy prevention nonprofit called the Candie’s Foundation. Today, the Associated Press reported that the Candie’s Foundation released its 2009 tax information, revealing that Bristol was paid a salary of $262,500.

But the Foundation distributed only $35,000 in grants to actual teen pregnancy health and counseling clinics

Only in America.

Let's see how Sarah Palin swings that info to her benefit. That is ridiculous!

ISTM that Levi Johnston ought to get some kind of credit on his child support obligation.

But yet you don't say anything about Obammy giving Brazil 2 billion dollars to drill for oil when his main financier George Soros holds most of the stock in the company that owns the reserves.

5:07--but she got pregnant BEFORE pushing abstinence! lol It's good for everyone else, but her. And I wonder how much income tax she paid on that, plus all of her other income. Promise you, she did not do DWTS for free!

According to Obammy, if she made over 250 thousand she is rich and probably paid about 45 per cent in taxes.

I think it is a good message to send to young people: "Abstinence is profitable!"

I've gone for long, long periods of time without sex for much, much less...

Without defending the Candie's Foundation completely -- let a CPA audit their books -- their stated mission is not to donate money to other organizations. From their website: "We are an operating foundation rather than a grant-making foundation. The foundation develops and runs communication campaigns to raise awareness about, and motivate teens to prevent, teen pregnancy." Essentially, they pay celebrities to do PSAs.

As for the question of whether Bristol Palin is actually "worth" the money being paid her -- in the year she became a spokesperson for Candie's contributions went up 275%, $1.2 million, from the year before. Was she responsible for any of that? That's what the people at Candie's decide.

And I guess nobody ever saw Scared Straight. Sometimes kids pay more attention to advice that comes from somebody who's already made the mistake.

All of this is just something for a thoughtful person to consider.

Soros does not make claim to be a non-profit organization.

I think it is disgusting for a charity to pay money to spokespeople. The folks doing the speaking should feel guilty about it. There is no honor in doing the right thing because you got paid WELL to do it. If the money she spent was used for transportation/expenses to speak all over the country then that is something different. There is not enough information to make a rational decision about the money. How many times did she speak, where, who paid for the travel, hotel's, food, security, and misc expenses associated with the charity? A modest salary of some sort is ok with this kind of work but folks that get filty rich doing charity work is wrong and sends the wrong messsage.

If she was a Dem/Lib this would be acceptable and not even make it to the news.

but soros is profiting big time from your tax money. bristol is not

So what? Who cares whether anyone has sex today is married or not? That's just plain archaic rhetoric. If she can bring in that much money by some means to raise her kid, more power to her...smart girl. Who the hell cares about whether a marriage license was signed in this day and age?

8:58 Plain to see that you are very much a part of the new morality of today....down the tubes!

God cares.

What this Palin has done is indefensible. Maybe it is an "operating foundation," but it has been percieved as a "charity" which implies that money will go out as "grants."

And none of my tax money went to Haliburton during the Cheney/bush administration.

I would question anything the Associated Press threw our way. Those jokers are not trust-worthy to print the complete truth.

Are you kidding me? Are your kidding me?

I do twice the amount of work that she does...

12:23, You are sadly mistaken. Some of your tax money went to Haliburton during the Bush Administration. Do you think they fed our troops and refueled tanks and aircraft for free? They also got it under the Clinton Administration with no bid contracts but you didn't seem to have a problem with that because Clinton has a D beside his name.

Oh boohoo, sadly mistaken

And Cheney/bush admin fixed the no contract bid then. All my tax money to big oil was under Clinton. I understand now. Thanks for pointing that out.
