Edit: Based upon the comments, the worst of the fires is in Rhome. Some roads shut down. WBAP reports that the fire stretches about a mile and near a "subdivision". This must be pretty big.
Edit: I don't know how long it'll be up, but Fox 4 is streaming its helicopter feed.

Edit: At 1:47 p.m., the fire jumped over 287 (which had been shut down.) Wow.

Fire North of Decatur and big one east of Rhome at the Denton county line
I met a Decatur fire engine half way to Slidell this morning at 7:30.
Now looking east from Rhome I see a huge plume of smoke. Hard to tell the distance but maybe around Alliance..
The one North of Decatur is the Malone Property according to the Messanger,with several structures involved.
There is smoke rising over the ridge west of Runaway Bay
The one East of Rhome is at John Day rd. Rhome and Justin working it.
So that is a meth fire up north...

That's a small fire. I've done controlled burns on my place that were bigger than that.

They are not evacuating the middle an elementary school in Rhome, even though the fire is just behind the school an upwind of the school. How stupid can you get? I'm picking my child up right now.

I was picking my child up to leave for vacation, but I would have picked her up anyway. The fire was right behind the school and the wind was blowing towards the school. Why would I leave her there? You're an idiot.
And "standing strong" has been my name for quite a while. It has nothing to do with leaving my daughter in a school that could possibly catch fire. This was an exceptional fire and I didn't see any reason kids should have been left in the school. It's my job, though, to protect my child. I think you just get off on making idiotic comments to antagonize people. Your comments directly reflect your morals and your IQ.
