I Must Be Dreaming

Story.

France? France takes military action in a land they generally have no interest in? And against a country they are not at war with?  France?  A country whose "French Resistance" in World War II meant bad service to the Germans in restaurants? France?

This world is getting more confusing by the moment.

Edit: Well, at least I know we'll act rationally. Wait, what's that? You're kidding. For the life of me, I don't understand this at all.

Bg, I went to France this past summer and believe me when i tell you that France's entire military could not whip the Chico draggons middle school football team .

When Obammy was asked by a reporter what he thought about the Brazilion protesters, Obammy responded, "How much is a Brazillion?"

Hey BG that's what happens when America fails to help those in need. The fact that France of all countries is trying to fill the moral/ethical void left by our recent vacancy is testament to just how far we have fallen. Sad world we live in. We are rapidly becoming the most impotent country in the world thanks to the actions of the worlds most inept leader.

No interest? Uh, how about oil- black gold, Texas tea?

Anyway, it gets worse- our missile strikes were to take out air defenses for the Frogs.

I weep in my own general direction

The appropriate joke would be:

France fires on Libyan forces. France surrenders.

The French Resistance was actually the only good part of that country's efforts in the war.

But we should not be invading. Who are we to determine the outcome of someone else's civil war? I know the idiots on this blog want us to get involved, but in the long run Muslims will view this as more American interference, and it will make us less safe.

Obammy lied, Libyans died.

France has more oil companies and drilling leases in Libya than any other western democracy. That's why. Says the husband.

Is Obama the worst President in the history of ever or just in modern times?

Anonymous said...

Meanwhile, Hamas fires dozens of rockets into Israel. Still no response from the White House. Oh I forgot, Obammy's out of town again.

Anonymous said...

When are people going to start screaming,"If it weren't for oil Obama would never have gotten involved..." Oh, that's right, never.

Obama could film himself raping a sheep in the Oval Office and and people would praise him for being an animal lover.

You can't see it, but I'm double face palming and shaking my head in sincere bewilderment.

Word on the street has it French Mirage fighters have killed at least 4 Libyan tanks that were threatening civilians.

Then the pilots ejected to save themselves the trouble of landing to surrender.

Looks like the implementation of the Palin Doctrine finally goes into effect. Of course, Palin recommended this course of action a month ago -- before the rebel forces (aka "Libyan people") had been obliterated.

I guess the explicit statement that we will not send ground troops is a way around the War Powers Act. Sixty percent of Americans oppose the involvement in Lybya. Just like Obama Care, the Kenyan does not let the wishes of the American people stand in his way.

1)Like "Bob" said, I dare antone on this blog doing a five year tour w/ FFL. You won'tlast until the desert gets hot(about 0715HRS).
2) The French are still pissed they lost so much of N. Africa after WW2 (remember Casablanca and the "Vichey Gov't"?).
3)Has everyone forgotten Laffayette? These are the same French descendents, but Viet Nam taught them you just don't stick your nose in every hornets nest out there(too bad WE didn't learn the same lesson i.e. Iraq/Afghanastan)
4) With all the BAD and WRONG history being spewed by political hacks on this blog, no wonder we are raising a generation of idiots to run our country in the next few years.

How odd: article you linked to states, "world intervenes in Libya with unusual speed".
Any slower and there wouldn't be anyone left to intervene for. Too bad for those folks they're brown.

Rage, there is a difference between minding your own business and running and hiding. Running and hiding only gives the size of the problem an opportunity to grow. This isolationists stance that you and Mr. Green espouse might delay the problem in our lifetime but could be a much bigger problem for our children to handle.

Yes, I realize all of the side issues regarding the elimination of Saddam Hussein but there is no question that the world is a better place with his sorry a** sent to Hell. Moammar Gadhafi needs to take his place by his buddy, Saddam.

855 - Don't count on it being laid at Obama's feet. He essentially voted "present" until everyone else said "Here's what we're going to do." He'll merely say he was "joining in the decisions of the international community" or somesuch. Of course, the media will simultaneously use words like decisive and prudent to describe his Hamlet impersonation.

1047 - First, your observation, while maybe accurate, is irrelevant to the Wiki recommendation earlier. That particular page is a good source for someone to learn about that particular subject. Second, Wikipedia is often inaccurate, but it is still a good place to start research. It is still mostly accurate, and it provides footnotes where one can track down more reliable sources. Third, your use of irregardless was ill-advised. It makes the reader wonder whether (a) you were being ironic; or (b) you inadvertently showed ignorance while aiming for arrogance.

Rage said...

Actually, answers, our meddling in the middle East, which we have done for decades, have resulted in exactly the problem you wanted to avoid. Remember carter and reagan in Iran? Is that country better or worse now? How about Iraq, which Reagan supported. Clearly worse than it used to be. Egypt is regressing to an islamofacist state, and Libya will too. And ourt meddling will be viewed poorly by the clerics who will run those countries in the future.

You can sing the praises of the French Foreign Legion all you want - tough bastards...no argument there. But keep in mind that it is illegal for a Frenchman to serve in the FFL. It is made up entirely of non-Frogs - that's why it's called "foreign"!

Vive Capitan D'anjou's hand!

Does anyone really believe that France is in this for the long haul?
It was a good political move on Obama's part to have the French go in first, but this latest nation-building nightmare is going to belong to no one but us.

Anonymous said...

The problem with our involvement is that eventually ground troops will have to be sent in. It's been proven you can't win from the air alone. And when that happens, especially now after repeal of DADT, my people will be in harms way, and that makes me sad. We are just too sensitive to be expected to endure the rigours of combat.

I hope there's not a chance in the world it's true, but what if Al Quaeda stirred the poo up in Libya hoping at worst they'd gain another base for their foolishness in a new region for them and at best another place for hundreds or thousands of western troops to die.

we never do these kind of actions against countries with nukes. see now why every tom dick an harry feels they need a bomb

Since when does a leader of a country not have the right to defend against a rebellion? I guess Obama would disapprove of the actions of Lincoln and of Sherman's march to the sea.

We now are seeing the birth of another Iran with the assistance of the news media and with that of the U.S. I remember the daily condemning of the Shaw of Iran in the news. So now are the Iranians a free people and what about their standard of living?
