Best Entertainment In The County On Saturday: Rhome City Council Agenda

Click to enlarge. (Sorry it's cock-eyed.)

Edit: Uh, oh. The boys in Dallas have caught wind of this.

Edit: A faithful reader points out this pdf Fort Worth City Council Agenda which, in comparison. looks like a BEAT---ING.

Edit: As a commenter pointed out, the Star Telegram has picked up the story (with a mention of this little ol' blog. Good times.)

In regard to the Fort Worth pdf., I don't know...probably depends on how you look at it. Personally, I can see the benefit in having such a "retreat." Beating? Perhaps...beneficial and necessary at times? Y-E-S.

Dumb Dumb Dumb! Sounds like Brandon is a spoiled kid that not getting his way, and that ordinance he and the council woman wants is Stupid. Maybe we should buy them some 2-way radios so when one of them farts they can let her and Brandon know about it...That way they are alway in the loop. Grow up and God help Rhome if Brandon gets Mayor.

What an agenda! Seriously, I have never seen anything that stupid. What is the education level of the person who put those items on the agenda? Eight of 22 items involve hiring or firing someone. I love "status of death threats on council member Davies." I guess if he shows up at the meeting then the status is pretty much answered. I propose a contest on the Blog, list which item is the dumbest and explain.

Item 21. Riding unlicensed vehicles on city streets. (ok, they are not talking about driving or operating the vehicles, they are "riding" them. Is that like, "hey, here comes an unlicensed vehicle let's jump on it and see how far we can ride it."

This would make the best reality TV show ever. Think about it "Rhome City Council". I would TiVo that every week. It is like Jerry Springer but it is freakin real.

I remember being at a Rhome Council meeting and hearing Brandon stating that he was tired of all the negative publicity toward Rhome. Looks to me as if he has brought it on too himself.
VOTE NO FOR Brandon.. We as citizens of Rhome DESERVE a council that works as a TEAM....

I would pay 20 bucks for a live video feed...

Oh, to hell with that... new reality program! Mid six figures to start...talk about boost the character acting!

OMG - These people are nuts!

The citizens of Rhome do not need K. C. Schoenthal, Brandon Davis nor Patty Robinson. They are all one and the same. Why do the citizens of Rhome continue to put up with this garbage? I feel I have to apologize each time someone asks me my hometown.

Rhome Beautification??? What the H@LL??? There is nothing about that trashy town that is beautiful. How long before their seedy new MOTEL turns into a drug dealers haven? And HELLO RAMAH it is a MOTEL not a HOTEL. BIG DIFFERENCE!

If you stay in Rhome, in the MOTEL, what would the attraction be? And just where would you eat? Subway?

What happened to First Amendment Rights protected under the Constitution?

Anonymous said...

I just open the link to the Update every day and wait to see what Rhome has done next.

So damn glad I don't live there. But they are TOO close for comfort.

Anonymous said...

So many questions...
1. Is it legal for the council to ask a candidate their
"intentions"? I've never heard of that being done before.
2. Schoenthal was fired 1 1/2 years ago, at least. Why is that issue being reopened?
3. Who is Kelli Baker and why is she being fired?
4. What nepotism did hiring Judy Palmore cause?
5. What citizen's property was seized?
6. Who's being taxed at a higher rate? Does Wise County Appraisal District not handle their taxes?
7. Ramah has been there forever. Why are they looking at firing her? City secretarys can't be fired exactly like "regular employees".
8. Who violated the contract with Jena Hawkins? Her? The city?
9. Time dedication of the mayor? Do they want to require him to spend a certain amount of time at City Hall?
10. Since the state shut down their ability to write tickets via the unmanned machine, are they going after bicycle riders?
11. Is Saturday's meeting a retreat or an open meeting? Maybe a bunch of folks should show up...

Anonymous said...

They should sell tickets to this event, would probably pay for the much needed face-lift the city needs. B Davis sounds like a big tit bag, hope he reads this and implements some sort of rule reguarding "the blog". K.C. was lazy but the one good thing he did was make his officers wear those silly hats. Rick was much better, maybe they'll give him his job back, then Davis will really get his feathers ruffled. Wouldn't surprise me if he was writting the threats to himself for sympathy.

I've been away. Is Rhome still a dirty collection of shacks that would dry up and blow away if speed traps were outlawed?

Anonymous said...

I see some GREAT YouTube material here--someone needs to bring a camcorder!! What is so laughable is the inclusion of the "Beautification Committee" on the agenda. I'm not bad-mouthing that item of business, but because it's just about the ONLY normal item on the agenda, it sticks out like a sore (or should I say a NORMAL) thumb! Rhome makes New Fairview look calm and collected by comparison!!

Anonymous said...

I hope that tiny little room can hold all of the people who are going to show up tonight--and Saturday as well!

Anonymous said...

CRAP! I've been glad New Fairview didn't have a post office so I could say I lived in Rhome but now....I guess I'm gonna have to get a PO Box in Decatur or something!

I mean I remember the good old New Fairview, mayor trespassing and getting arrested days and a couple of the council meetings back then and this seems way more embarrassing.

Meanwhile maybe these folks should have tried their hands at middle school council instead of a city's!

Anonymous said...

Brandon davis has stated that he is tired of all the negative publicity and that he want to help bring businesses to Rhome but all he does is stir up negative publicity and I doubt very seriously any businesses would ever even consider coming to Rhome due to him.

Anonymous said...

Was the Mayor at this meeting last week? If not, it sounds like he is the only smart one of the bunch!

Anonymous said...

It doesn't surprise me that Brandon would want to fire Ramah Burns. I believe that he would fire all the city employees and try run the entire city by himself. The people that he targets are all much more intelligent than he is and he can't stand it, so he tries to bully and intimidate people. That picture of him on the front page of the paper makes him look like Smokey the bear!

Anonymous said...

Brandon needs to resign from the council along with Patty, the city would be much better without them and they might actually gets something done. Patty will probably loose anyway.

Anonymous said...

The only reason for all of this is it is election time and Brandon is running for mayor, and does not have a chance in Hell of winning, so he needs to trash the mayor in hopes winning.. Who on earth would want to be the Mayor anyway??

Anonymous said...

Curbs and Gutters, man we are getting big time. Next thing you know we will have sidewalks.

Anonymous said...

My vision of meeting: "Call to order, now on to the business of beautification, what is proposed by the members to beautify our town?" Mumbles all around and then "Heck,I dont' know,I'm only here for the name calling..." and "Yeah me too,and I brought this cool, flaming paper sack of poo..."
I would be really,REAL concerned about #12 if I lived in Rhome.
19 and 20,you sound like good ideas and I like good ideas. I hate to see good ideas fall by the wayside. So I'll have to act like I don't know you.

Anonymous said...

People, it's obvious that most of you have never been to a city council meeting. As a citizen, I could sign up to talk about elephants flying through the sky at midnight over my city, and the council would have to acknowledge I wanted to talk about it. Rhome's process details all those silly talking points. In other cities, they just come out of the woodwork. Rhome's not any nuttier than anywhere else.

Anonymous said...

Rhome sucks, always has, always will.....but that little po-dunk town is always good for a laugh. I had to drive thru there just this last Monday evening, and sure enough, I saw two vehicles stopped by the po-po's.....as usual.

The only thing that really concerns me is the possibility that the "driving like a bat out of hell down FM677 from Forestburg to Saint Jo" Wise County Fire Marshall is running for Sheriff in Gawd's Country.

On second thought, if the WCFM can bring his hot truck up here, I might vote for him. It's hawt!

On third thought, I think we already inherited one of your K-9 coppers. Have we already done away with him? What was his name? I can't remember.

Jeezzzzz......I hate it when the wind blows from the south. I can smell Wise County then, and all kinds of trash blows in. Whew-wee!

You know, "cock-eyed" and Rhome just seem to go together, don't they?

I'm just sayin.

Your blog in named in the star-telegram for pointing out this agenda!

Anonymous said...

On the face of it half of their agenda has personal names associated and most are linked with an ouster one way or another.
Their problems are mostly personality driven.
I think I would back the first person to apologize and beg everyone there to concentrate on one thing they can agree on(or at least act like they do)or at least the last man standing in the cage match that must surely be brewing. I don't know.

3:25PM - "Curbs and Gutters".

For some strange reason, that reminded me of "hoagies and grinders" from Adam Sandler's "Lunch Lady Land".

But the sidewalks in Rhome is what really made me laugh!

The citizens of Rhome elected Davis. That city deserves the people it elects.

Anonymous said...

Parks:Build one. If they would act like grownups for 5 min they would have a place to chill out and get rid of all that negative energy. Then they could come back to the other items to see if they still seemed important.

Anonymous said...

Did they change it? I was looking for it on their website and what I found looks nothing like this.

Someone please scan, post and link to the picture 1:20 PM commented about.....

"I would like to know what the Military thinks of Brandon being in is Uniform for is Campain picture (Front Page of the Messenger)"......

I didn't bother doing the "(sic) thing" on 1:20's comment, because this is so important! I can't seem to find it on the Mess website. I'm sure others would like to see it also.

I will not drive down from Gawd's Country just to get a copy of that WCMess rag, what with the cost of gas and all, so someone, PLEASE post that picture.

This is BS! I've been following this story forever and now LLFTLODQ is getting all the Star-Telegram love!

Granted, my take on the Brandon Davis situation isn't as "PC" as BG's...

I'm thinking of challenging Mr. Davis to a slap fight at the DQ in Rhome. But then again I'm a tad nervous because of his quote: "I want people to know that I'm a soldier and can handle the problem permanently."

My response:

"You threatenin' me? Are you threatenin' me, Counselor? I'm gonna teach you the meaning of commitment."

Barry Green said...

Hold on there, Jarhead. I've been on this thing since February!

"Bow to your sen-sei!"

Anonymous said...

"I want people to know I'm a soldier and I can handle this problem permanently"?
Holy smokes,I said something like that in divorce court after I came back and ended up on 72 hour observation in the hospital!

Anonymous said...

Well, Rhome City Government wasn't build in a day...

Jarhead said...

I don't mean to burst your bubble, BG, but my original story was posted on February 20 where yours was on February 23...

So I say to you with no sense of superiority whatsoever, since you are the original blogger sensei, but rather with total ROTFLMAO:

"What's my name, bitch? SAY MY NAME!!!"

With all seriousness, I have more fun on your blog than I do on mine. Thanks and keep it up.

Makes me wanna to move to Rhome....F-ing Idiots!

Anonymous said...

Rhome's mayor is active in promoting Rhome throughout the Metroplex, for example engaging with his fellow regional mayors at issues forums to learn about what's going on regionally that may impact Rhome...the guy is doing a good job and it seems to me that Rhome city council members need to be a little more secure about their own positions and let their elected Mayor represent the city as he is doing, and as other mayors.

Anonymous said...

The highly suspicious bitch-slapping currently going on between Jarlip and BooBear is worthless without pictures. Come on you two, either cough up "a visual representation" of said Brandon guy, or stop with the "I was on this before you were" totally gay bullshiate.

Death threats made against a city councilman? Perhaps I should reconsider running for office! I would like to learn more about the taxation and nepotism issues.

That is what you get for hiring the Crazy B back in the first place. You were rid of her once.

Anonymous said...

I can tell you, I've had the pleasure of attending a few of Rhome's lovely council meetings. It's a three ring circus up there.

Brandon is a complete idiot. If he would quit worrying so much about who is saying what and actually do SOME RESEARCH AND READING on what issues impact his citizens he might be a half-a$$ job....NAW that town is way too screwed up anyway.

Hey Brandon (You Dumb F#C&) it's called the internet - Try it sometime!

Mark "promoting" Rhome. More like BEGGING! Please what is there to promote? "We gotta great big water tower now just look at our website! WHOOO DOGGIE!" Now there's a selling point! LMAO

1:33 DEAD ON! Crazy B at City Hall is right. Get rid of her at Rhome then Roanoake cuts her and now back at Rhome for a do-over?

Anonymous said...

You no at least we have a water tower! There wasn't crap in this town 5 years ago. Give the man some credit. I can't see how he even got that accomplished having to deal with the idiots on the council.

Anonymous said...

He seems like a very insecure man!

Does he drive a big truck, by any chance?

Anonymous said...

What about the crazy B on the city council...she needs to go down in flames along w/ Brandon.they both are only interested in causing DRAMA,not worried about what is good for the citizens, or the city!!

Regarding the Fort Worth pdf. It looks as though the Rhoman city leadership could use that kind of beating. They should have tagged along.
