Things You've Always Mistakenly Believed

For as long as I can remember, I have always referred to a certain skin condition as "enphentigo". A moment ago a very sweet lady at the courthouse, without calling me an idiot, told me it was actually "impetigo ". What else have I been mispronouncing all these years?

While we’re at it, a note to posters:

their = something that belongs to another
there = a place
its = something that belongs to someone/something
it's = contraction of "it is"
your = something that belongs to you
you're = contraction of "you are"
s on end of word = usually means several of whatever
's on end of word = belongs to that person
s’ on end of word = possessive of word already ending in s

Not sure this will help or be well received, but I had to try.

Someone needs to stand up for good spelling and grammar. I've turned down dozens of job applicants from Wise County because of mistakes on the resumes. Simple mistakes, bad spelling, carelessness.

"Please tell me a little about your qualifications"

Well, uh, nome sane, I graduated from Decatur High School um and um like to git job with a like good pay and uh, um konn chibbit with mah skeels, nome sane?

Barry, you are correct, but it's spelled infantigo, and is the same as impetigo.

You're in the right ballpark. It's spelled infantigo, and means the same thing as impetigo.

Since you're from Texas, probably every single word in the English language

Actually, 5:16, infantigo is not in the dictionary...that spelling got started because it's more common in infants, thus probably why our mothers prounounced it that way. Impetigo is the only spelling Webster's dictionary recognizes. And I'm sure all of you are thinking "who cares?". lol
