"Jump The Shark"

You often hear about how a television show has gone just a little too far when it has "jumped the shark". That's a reference to the Happy Days episode when Fonzie, literally, jumped a shark on water skiis. I have heard about for years, but never saw it. Until now. (And by the way, if you watch the show now you can only come to one conclusion: That was one bad TV show).

I have been a "jump the shark" devotee for quite a while now. It was the perfect time-waster at work.

Watching it now, yes a little cheesy...but I have to admit...I loved it when I was young:)

OK, not to get philosophical or anything, but why do you think it was bad show, Barry? Is it because it was an innocent show set back in the 50s?
I liked it, not really for sure why (although I had a crush on Joanie, lol), but it had family values, the good guy wins in the end, and the tough guy was the one who would take up for the weak.
True, when Fonzie became the main character, they had to do a lot more with him (e.g., the water ski jump, since the motorcycle thing was beat to death), but it was still a good show for its time.
I think that disliking shows like this, and the pure hatred for things like Barney and Mr. Rogers are a mark on our society, which has become crass and cynical and almost hates anything to do with pure, innocent love.
Now don't get me wrong, me loves me some NYPD BLUE and in the past, The Shield. But there's always room for innocent shows for people who don't enjoy Vic Mackey and his exploits.

Ok, ok, maybe just a little philosophical... lol

Happy Days was/is my favorite TV show, then and now. I still watch it 3 times a day and I've seen every episode several times. I remember the first time I saw that particular episode, I held my breath and bit my nails and then I had to wait another week to see if he and his leather jacket made it! It's just pure clean fun and I love it!

Anon 6:43, I'd make fun of you for watching 3 episodes of Happy Days every day if it wasn't so sad.
