What A Stunner
"FORT WORTH — The wife of a slain Fort Worth police officer spoke directly to news reporters for the first time on Monday, saying her husband was a wonderful father who had a passion for police work. In an hour-long interview, Teresa Nava, wife of officer Henry “Hank” Nava, said she believes the man who shot her husband deserves the death penalty."
I'm not sure that's newsworthy.
Edit: Sheesh, people. I was just saying that it comes as no surprise that the wife would want the guy killed.

Oh, it's newsworthy. Whenever someone kills the people who serve us and try to protect us and the wife wants/needs to speak out, it's appropriate and newsworthy. I'm not a death penalty proponent but I don't think this guy deserves anything better.
Anyone who shoots a law enforcement officer deserves worse than the death penalty.

Now, Barry. If that was your brother, dad,etc., who took that bullet in the head by an admitted parole violator who was also shooting at the same time, just how would you feel? Would you want to speak out? Would you want leniency and understanding for the perp?

Texas state law PC 19.03 states that a person that murders a peace officer or fireman who is acting in the lawful discharge of offical duty and knew they were a police officer or fireman. But it also gives others such as a person under six years of age.
If there is a problem with that, speak to your local congress person.
This doesn't make their life more precious, it gives the criminal something to think about before he assaults a police officer. Law enforcement officers are the ones that have to confront these individuals to keep you safe.
