Random Friday Morning Thoughts

"In a stunning and rapid turn of events, USC coach Steve Sarkisian was fired Monday, just one day after appearing intoxicated at a team meeting and missing practice and just hours after he was placed on indefinite leave. The announcement by Athletic Director Pat Haden followed revelations of more than a dozen alcohol-related incidents involving the second-year coach, including routine excessive drinking after games."

  • Video from last night of the Celina coach who finds himself in a very uncomfortable spot.

  • Yesterday on I-35E during rush hour. Video.

  • Another day, another press release.  And Paxton can't be that dumb regarding Free Speech, can he?  You might find anyone "celebrating" someone's death to be offensive, but the government can't punish you for it.

  • And when did the Freedom to Assemble become just some quaint and outdated notion?

  • Those who didn't sign off on the the Pentagon's demand included Fox News, Newsmax, the Washington Examiner, the Washington Times and the Daily Caller. (Gift link.)

  • Someone check on Marjorie.

  • The U.S. bombed another boat last night off the coast of Venezuela, but this time there may be survivors.  Meanwhile, the admiral in charge of the U.S. Southern Command, where the boats are being attacked, has resigned.

  • This isn't some troll in a basement posting online. This is from the press secretary of the president.

  • Who's "we"?

  • Re: Trump's Justice Department office headed by Jeanine Pirro: Remember when this happened earlier this year? They had to finally file the case as a misdemeanor since doing so does not require grand jury approval.

    • Well we have an update yesterday on that misdemeanor:

  • He said it again yesterday.

  • That was a heck of a night. Story.

  • Comments like this drive me nuts.  All contracts of college coaches are "guaranteed."  If, say, only three years of a "10 year" contract were guaranteed, then it's only, in reality, a three year contract. If none of it was guaranteed, it wouldn't be a contract at all - he would just be an "at will" employee.
