Houston Rockets Official Twitter Account . . .

. . . makes, and then deletes, an execution of a maverick joke on Twitter as they were on the verge of eliminating Dallas from the playoffs.

(Kind of a funny bit.)

Edit: Here comes the apology. Sheesh. Everyone lighten up. You have to apologize over emojis?

Edit based on a comment: Uh, rape?

Yeah, when an NBA team tweets that it will put a gun to your head and kill you, yeah.

They should have tweeted it directly to Mark Cuban. That guy is the king of douchebaggery.

Yeah, get real. It's kinda funny! Everybody's soooooooooo worried about being "politically correct"!

I for one am proud of the Mavs; they have a great coach.
Rondo let them down big time, it would be funny if no one signed him

I was sent this last night but didnt see the emojis... they at least make it sound less rape-y. If memory serves didn't a North Texas wrestling squad catch heat for using the exact same phrase on a team shirt?

Really Barry? Rape jokes are not just politically incorrect. They are hurtful and unfunny. Not sure about that? Put yourself or someone you care about in the shoes of a victim and decide if it is still funny.

Besides the disgusting gun to the head, you didn't get that tweet is referring to rape? And you were a District Attorney? And you are now helping raise young women? Wow, just WOW.

Uh, this isn't a rape joke. It's a joke about putting a lame horse out to pasture. It LITERALLY depicts a horse and a gun. Horses were taken out to a pasture and shot in the head when they became lame. This is a cultural reference of the old west - the historic region of Texas. These two teams are in the WESTERN conference, and Houston is the top team in the SOUTHWEST division.

If you are culturally ignorant, that's okay. Just ask. Don't make it about something that it isn't. This isn't a rape reference in any way, shape or form.

How do you know? Did you write it? I doubt it.

hey 2:00pm--the rape part context is the verbiage, not the emojis. Get a clue
