Random Tuesday Morning Thoughts

  • Wrong way driver on the Dallas tollway last night. It ended  in a head on collision with both driver's being arrested.
  • That 3-0 Cowboys game last night was brutal, but I couldn't believe ESPN's Mike Tirico threw it to halftime with, "That was 90 minutes of your life you'll never get back."  He's right, I just can't believe he said it.
  • Nakedness!: Last week it was Randy Travis and now some MMA fighter named Mayhem Miller was arrested after being found naked in a church. Now some 25 year old guy in Grapevine decided to go strolling around in the buff on Sunday.
  • One of the Kids in the House is playing select softball this fall. I saw the schedule this morning.  Man, that looks like a beating -- I kept seeing "at least four games guaranteed" on weekends.
  • Buy a tent?
  • I know the new Batman movie has a character named "Bane" or "Bain" in it, and I swear I dreamed/dreamt last night that I was in that movie with Mitt Romney and a plot that kept referencing Bain Capital. So odd.
  • I tried to kick an extra point barefooted last weekend while Mrs. LL was the holder. I'm lucky I didn't break my toe.
  • I heard on the radio this morning that Romney's selection of Paul Ryan as VP has "electrified the party." Might want to tap the brakes on that.
  • If you didn't hate Ryan Lochte already, look at the shirt he's selling.
  • C.J. Wilson is 0-5 with a 5.36 ERA and seven home runs allowed over his last eight starts.
  • There were a lot of Aggie parents freaking out yesterday.

My aggie was safe at home. Does not go back until this weekend...

Same RTG as yesterday. Different swim wear.

Mayhem Miller has been on the brink of craziness for a long time. Look for Nick Diaz to go next.

I'm not sure what qualifies as "electrifying" when it comes to politics, but Ryan impressed me when he thoroughly exposed Obamacare as fraudulent at the bipartisan summit. That's a good start.

I think Paul Ryan was the right choice at the right time. I'm still not excited about voting for Romney (I keep flashing back to my first vote in a Presidential Election - Bob Dole), but at least now there is someone on the ticket whose conservative bonafides are less questionable than those belonging to RINO from Massachusetts.

I was planning on voting Libertarian this go around, but if Ryan says the right things on the campaign trail I might change my vote now.

Seriously, the guy going the wrong way going to jail makes sense, but how in god's green earth can anyone justify sending the victim to jail.

Who cares if she was intoxicated, At least she was fully clothed.

Same girl as yesterday?

Spend the money, buy the tent, more so if the games are going to be in the heat. Later in the fall you won't use it so much but it will come in handy again next summer.

CJ Wilson, couldn't happen to a better guy. Maybe he should use some of the bacon grease from his hair and put it on the ball.

Does anyone in the NFL still kick barefoot?

RomneyRyan draws a crowd of over 10 thousand. Joe Biden draws barely 600. Tap, tap, tap. Early prediction. A landslide for Romney.

Mayhem Miller WAS the host of what might have been the single best show on television: Bully Beatdown. The premise was genius: take some poor slob who has been picked on by a bully, locate the bully, convince the bully to fight one of Mayhem's buddies from the MMA game, and let the fun begin! Scoreboard says MMA fighters roll on bullies!

Anonymous said...

Looks like same RTG from yesterday.

At minimum, buy one of those canopy tents to give you shade. You'll need the regular gear(cooler, chairs, weights to hold the canopy down in case the wind gets up) and rain gear.

If you want to go all out, get yourself a camper. You can have A/C, your own bathroom, shower, kitchen, fridge, TV and most importantly, a couch to take a nap on.

RTG is super hot! I really love this girl, makes me want to find that car wash!

Wordy's World:

Obama not showing a college transcript that no candidate has ever been asked to release: Bad

Romney not disclosing documents that every candidate has disclosed for 40 years: Good

Obama doing drugs in college: Bad

Bush doing drugs as an adult: Good

Obama having no business experience: Bad

Bush's business experience being driving oil companies bankrupt during an oil boom: Good

Ryan having no business experience: Good

Obama having no criminal record: Ignored

Bush. Having one DWI and Cheney having two DWIs: Good

Obama creating a national version of Romneycare: Bad

Romney creating Romneycare: Good

Obama voting for TARP and the auto industry bailout: Bad

Ryan voting for TARP and the auto industry bailout: Good

Keep it up wordy, it gets better every day!

Since I'm a chick I really don't care if it's the same RTG but I did notice that this one is holding the same clutch purse/bag as the one yesterday.

Bully Beatdown is a terrific show. Even if it was scripted reality TV, there is nothing fake about some d-bag getting pummeled by an MMA fighter.

Why are our local free car washes always hosted by fat girls from the HS band or from FFA?

Good grief, do not buy a tent. Too dangerous, someone could slice you up with a knife out in the woods....get a travel trailer..much more fun...comes in handy when the electricity goes out for hours at the house too.

Vote Libertarian Gary Johnson! Voting for the lesser of two evils is still evil.

Anonymous said...

9:38, No candidate releases his college transcripts. They are open records and reporters release them. But for some reason, Obammy's are sealed and not a matter of public record. I wonder why that is? If Romney does as you request and releases his tax returns, will you vote for him then? I doubt it.

Anonymous said...

Hey 9:38, I don't think Bush is running this time around. Why do liberals lie so often ? I've heard liberalism is a mental disorder and I am starting to believe it. Get some help or better meds

That clutch purse/bag thingie is called a sponge. It's commonly used to wash cars, among other things.

Riddle me this Wordkyle:

If Ryan is such a Tea Party favorite, why does his budget INCREASE Federal spending over the next 10 years? Why do taxes rise every year under Ryan's budget? Why is the deficit still $3 Trillion after 10 years of increased taxes under the Ryan budget? How can you raise taxes on the Middle Class, lower taxes on the Top income bracket and spend MORE?

I'll give you a hint: You can't. Oh yeah, Memaw and PopPop lose their Medicare in the process.

You had a dream about Mitt Romney and Bain Capital? How exciting! Sounds like you put yourself to sleep in your sleep

Last week I fell asleep while watching the Olympics. I dreamed/dreamt that I was the only male player in a handball game between Sweden and France. It was played in a castle, the goals were fireplaces at opposite ends of a big room, and the ball was similar to a hackysack. I scored on my first attempt (in the goal - not with any of the players).
Sad? Perhaps. But my dream was at the Olympics, with a room full of athletic, attractive women. Yours was about a Mormon politician and a financial company

105 - I'm going to go out on a limb and address your points seriously. First, Romney is the candidate, not Ryan. Second, your Medicare comment is simply a lie. Ryan's proposals don't change Medicare for anyone over age 55. Next, read this article discussing myths surrounding Ryan's plan. Then read this article. The thread running throughout all the articles -- even the one you cited -- is that the Ryan proposal is not "slash and burn" or "extreme." Remember that when you hear Democrats try to describe it. (For anyone interested in seeing what Ryan's plan actually says, there's this.)

I hate to destroy your argument with facts, but college transcipts are not considered public records, regardless of funding source.

Tell ya what, call the college you graduated from(you did graduate from college, right?) and ask them about it. You will be asked to identify yourself and pay a fee for copies. The questions you will be asked include your student ID number, birth date, when you attended the school and other questions to insure you are, in fact, you. You can request to have the copies mailed to you or sent to the educational institution of your choice.

And how do I know this, you may ask. I have worked in the Registrars office at a publicly funded institution of higher learning. Believe it or not, college transcripts are treated very much like the medical records of an individual.

I haven't researched every school Barry Obama attended, but I know he attended Columbia and Harvard for sure, and they are both privately funded institutions, so I really don't understand your argument.

Ryan's budget increase is just a fraction of what Obama wants in his budget!! We don't know what the Senate Democrats budget is because they will not present one the last 3 years!! Ryan's Medicare plans does not affect anyone over 55- their coverage remains the same!! Anyone under 55 will have a choice--use existing coverage or go with a voucher program that will allow them to shop around for the best deal and coverage!! I wish people would do research before just blabbering out talking points! But then you would have to actually do something--like read, before doing that!!

Are any of you proponents for your chosen candidates or are you just voting against the other guy? The comments are starting to get stale around here.

If any of you were to give a speech I imagine it would contain some, if not all of the following information:

I can sum it up for all you.

Bush 41 sucked - see 1992 election results

Clinton sucked - at least he didn't inhale, but the question of whether he dipped remains up in the air

Bush 43 sucked - he hasn't ran for public office since 2000. Move on with your lives

Our current commander in chief - apparently he sucks too. The state of nation would seem to indicate that he hasn't been a very successful President. Maybe the 2012 election results will confirm... Maybe they won't

His opponent - The only argument I'm getting on here is he sucks too but we all seem to agree that he got rich/was successful doing it.

Success apparently breeds contempt.

Can we please go back to talking about Randy Travis now

320 I work for a company owned by Bain Capital for about 6 years now. Our company has had no lay offs, no jobs shipped overseas, and has in fact had a large investment fronted by Bain and the company has nearly quadrupled in size since Bain acquired the company which has approximately 2500 employees at this time. But I guess it's easier to stick your head in the sand and tout the liberal lines about how EVERY company purchased by Bain has been gutted, sold off, and shipped overseas. Wake up and educate yourself some about the business world. Sometimes some of those things are necessary to make a company viable. But I guess you would rather Bain never purchase a failing company and instead allow those companies to just close their doors. I for one am glad for the opportunities Bain has made possible for my company.

I have an experiment for you. I'm sure you know someone that went to college. Call the college they went to and ask for their transcripts. Since it's "public record" you should have no problem obtaining a copy.

Let us know how that works out for you.

Anonymous said...

8:25, It worked great for me. They axed me if I wanted them faxed or emailed. NOW SHUT UP

wordkyle said...

825 - I agree with your basic point -- there's a difference between "a matter of public record" and "records that have been made public" -- but your example is flawed. Get a motivated, possibly high profile journalist to approach personnel in the records department of the appropriate university. When you find the right person with a need for ego gratification and with a political agenda, have the journalist ask for the records of a major politician. The "private records" will be released publicly at the appropriate time. The right combination of elements just hasn't been reached regarding Obama's records.

Anonymous said...

8:25, Now I have a question for you. How did the reporters get Gore's Harvard and Vanderbilt transcripts if he didn't release them?

The first line reads....

"Confidential college transcripts and test scores obtained by the Washington Post reveal that neither presidential candidate, George W. Bush nor Al Gore, were shining students during their college days at Yale and Harvard, respectively."

con·fi·den·tial (knf-dnshl)
adj.
1. Done or communicated in confidence; secret.
2. Entrusted with the confidence of another: a confidential secretary.
3. Denoting confidence or intimacy: a confidential tone of voice.
4. Containing information, the unauthorized disclosure of which poses a threat to national security.

It appears one or more journalists at the Washington Post must be really good at their job(s).
