Liberal Supreme Court Loves Westboro Baptist Church

I jest. I told you this was coming.

The protesters complied with a newly enacted law by staying over 300 feet away from the funeral. And the father of the dead soldier who sued the church (and won $5 million) never saw or heard the protest.  The decision was a no-brainer.

As is often said, Freedom of Speech means protecting those who say things that we disagree with.

It would be nice to feel comforted by assuring myself that Fred Phelps and his ilk will have to pay some day for the evil they've committed in the name of God, but there's no real solace there.

Westboro took Romans 12 out of their bibles.

I still don't understand why the Hell's Angels don't pay a little visit to the WB bunch.

What about the Islamic blasphemy laws? Will the court be against them too?

So, we ban certain words from Primetime TV, censoring readily... but this is okay?

You are right, Barry... Idiocracy is upon us. Even when it is "legally" right.

There is no more arrogant person alive than a misquided Baptist preacher!

Misguided Baptist preacher---isn't that redundant?

Thanks Supreme Court for your ruling on the 1st amendment. It lets us all say what we want.
Personally, I'd probably slit the throat and dismember the bodies of the Westboro Baptist folks if they did that to me.. BUT, I'd not expect the law to help me.

it's all about where we say it not what we say....

somethings may not be against the law, but picketing a funeral is as low as it gets in humanity

scream from the mountain tops... tallest buildings.... main stream TV channels but stay away from the funerals of the dead.

It's not about freedom of speech it's about a family of lawyers with video cameras that lie in wait for someone to violate the WBC civil rights and then the Phelps family of lawyers jump on the poor unsuspecting person and the city that failed to protect them and sue the hell out of em.
That's what it's really about guys.
