Something's Different

The Cowboys go to 9-1 are probably playing as well as any Cowboy team ever. Is is just me, or is the level of excitement not the same? And other than the team having a handful of free-agent players instead of the home grown variety, I'm at a loss to explain it.

And does Wade Phillips, who is probably a good guy, come across as the ultimate simpleton?

Edit: Here's a youtube picture montage of every quarterback ever to throw a TD pass for the Cowboys.

I think it's every bit as exciting as it used to be...I enjoy watching the Cowboys again. And as far as Wade Phillips goes, better a simpleton than a depressing and arrogant Bill Parcells.

If you don't love the cowboys, then this wouldn't excite you. As for me, I've been a fan for about 38 tears, so I'm stoked by all this. Also, Wade Phillips is a good guy, and no, he's not a simpleton simply because he doesn't yell and scream and doesn't have that Bill Parcells evil glare. Everybody thinks you have to be some sort of hellfire and brimstone coach to be successful. Well, maybe not...

I disagree on several points.

The excitement is there, maybe not much around Bridgeport, but do they get excited about anything.

I think Wade Phillips is a smart coach; he just doesn't have an electric (or obnoxious) personality.
Everyone on the team (with a few exceptions) is playing at higher team level verses the one dimensional teams such as the Colts.

The Cabongs are just having a run of good luck but mark my words...they will fail at the end.

Wade Phillips was doing pretty well - until I saw that he allowed that slime ball Jerry Jones back on the sidelines yesterday. At least Parcells banished Jones to the owner's suite but Jerry's weaseled himself back into the spotlight. Bad things are likely to follow.

The level of excitement for some is more than what it has been. Maybe some people have just aged a little bit since the cowboys were last winning like they are now ( what, about 10 years ago) ...senility and sports don't go together! GO COWBOYS!

11:20-Fail at what? I guess if you mean a Super Bowl victory then they may fail. But they are 9-1, even if they lose the rest of the games they'll still have a winning record. I'm not sure of the playoff picture yet, but I'm betting they're in and what about the division. I bet they'll win that as well. So the way I see it, the Cowboys have succeeded. They may not win a Super Bowl, but I don't think that makes them failures.

How 'bout them Cowboys!!!!

America's Team? Yeah, right! Try Mexico's Team!! When is the last time you saw a Mexican-American (it's so hard to be politically correct!) NOT wearing something with the Vaqueros logo on it? Think about it. AYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY LOS VAQUEROS!!!! (trans - "How 'bout them Cowboys!!!!")

I think they're playing great, but with New England, Indianapolis, and Green Bay also playing phenonominal football, people aren't getting excited.

I don't know. We have the Bears. Went to the Super Bowl last year, and to the Toilet Bowl this year.

You're just getting older, Barry and more important responsibilities fill your mind instead of mindless football.

Everyone is just holding their breath waiting for the collapse. It's hard to show excitement when you are holding your breath.

Barry.....Why do liberals consider themselves intellectually superior? For you to brand Phillips a simpleton is liberal snobbery at it's finest. It is no different than saying conservatives are sheeple and can't think for themselves. Phillips did not become one of 32 head coaches in the NFL by being simple. The task of managing so many egos and personalities is not for the simple minded. Look at his record as a head coach. If a person is not relatively bright, there is no way to compete in that arena.
