This is my favorite tidbit about the old Decatur Baptist College: "The first [football] game that the Decatur Baptist College team played was with Bowie High School. The victor of the game was the Bowie High School with a score of seventy-six to nothing. The Decatur Team was a stout team."

To give credit where credit is due, Patrick Murphree supplied the newspaper, which has some really interesting articles including an article about the Decatur Boy Scout Troop which was chartered in 1912. Our current Troop 121 sponsored by Decatur Lion's club is traced back to this troop.
