The Machinary Of Death Slows Down

"In 1996, 320 murderers in the United States were told they would die for their crimes. But in 2004, the latest year for which complete statistics are available, 125 people were sentenced to death. That marked the fewest since 1977. In Texas, death sentences have dropped from 37 in 1999 to 15 in 2005, the fewest additional inmates on death row since 1991." From today's Morning News.

We should do away with that bed and get a couch three at a time would do it.

B:
Check the spelling of "machinery."

Why is it that we execute only one at a time? It's not like the inmates would care. Instead of a couch, I was thinking more like bleachers....

Is Texas just getting soft or what?

Two wrongs don't make a right. If someone kills someone else, it doesn't make sense that we kill them, to prove that killing is wrong. Killing a murder will never revive his victim(s).

The point is, the death penalty will not allow a murderer to be revived, and does not perpetually burden society in providing sustenance for the worst enemies of society.

You people are amazing.

well to make my point, two wrongs don't make a right, but neither does one. If you had a dear friend or family member that was murdered, wouldn't you want the murderer dead? I would

5:45 - Yes, I might want him dead - but isn't that God's job to judge and call for accountability? We should promote good and condemn poor behavior. Obvious problems with the death penalty include the fact that the victim is not helped and the fact that courts sometimes condemn innocent people. Let me ask you, how would you feel being wrongly convicted of a capital crime. I'd feel quite sorry for you and the real culprit would go free.

Well actually, if I was wrongly accused, I would want to be killed because I don't want to sit in a prison for the rest of my life, and I would want to go to heaven, yet God might have wanted me killed because He needed me in heaven maybe. And if I were a murderer, I would want to be killed for my actions. That might sound harsh, but that is the way i feal.

Guess it depends on what Bible you are reading....I prefer the one that says something like "an eye for an eye"

Or as they say in our native Wise county tongue...fry 'dem sumbitches!

Anonymous said...

amen to that! going along with 12:20 and 9:36

The above comments just demonstrate the limited Wise Co intellect. "Fry 'em" regardless of guilt or compassion. The "eye for eye" group also seems to forget the "thou shalt not kill" line. We might call this somewhat selective perception. Aw, what's the use, Wise Co is full of this lack of comprehension. It would be only too justified that one of them was falsely convicted. Whatever.
