Random Wednesday Morning Thoughts

  • Let's start today off with a few quotes from yesterday which should make us all fear like we've never feared before.
  • Trump: "North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States. They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen," Uh, like the world has never seen?
Nagasaki on this day in 1945
  • North Korea's state run media responded:  We will "turn the U.S. mainland into the theater of a nuclear war" at any sign of an impending American attack.
  • Everyone feeling pretty good now?
  • Let's check in on First Baptist Church of Dallas' pastor: "In the case of North Korea, God has given Trump authority to take out Kim Jong Un." That should make you fear this guy is a pastor.

  • Maybe Trump was off his meds yesterday and we don't need to be concerned. Let's check on him this morning:
  • Ummkay. And I didn't know you could update a bunch of nukes in six months.
  • Flashback to Trump from 2012:
  • There was an ad on The Ticket this morning paid by a conservative PAC which went after SMU for their 9/11 flag "controversy" and mentioned how Gov. Abbott was upset about it.
  • "If a baker doesn't want to sell [a cake] to a black person, I'm OK with that." - WBAP's Hal Jay yesterday at 6:54 a.m. You could almost hear everyone else in the studio stepping back.
  • Am I the only one who is surprised this is the same guy?
  • Road Rage is now creeping over to Valet Rage?:
  • I've got a Glen Campbell post going up in a just a little bit.

You aren't the only one on the road rage guy...

When I saw that side-by-side photo on the news last night, that was my first thought that those aren't the same person.

SMU Problem--Nowadays the stupidest people get "offended" over the stupidest things. You wanna know what's gonna finally destroy free speech? Forget the "guvmint" or power-mad demogogues. It's gonna be the growing "policy" of "not wanting to offend anyone", and the enlarging definition of what "offends" means.

Road rage guy looks identical in both pics to me.

Barry seems triggered this morning.

That Valet Rage lawyer is a complete bitch, and is kind of low-key the new Brian Loncar. They have thousands of personal injury cases across the state. And they're punks to deal with.

Also--for anyone keeping track of Trump v. the Truth, his first order was to try and limit the ACA. He has issued no orders on nukes in the last six months.

I was on 35W heading Northbound right before you get into FTW and a small truck stopped in the middle of the left lane, got out of his truck and walked up to the 18 wheeler that was behind him but it wasn't the 18 wheelers fault because I was behind them the whole time watching the whole thing unfold. I seriously thought shots were going to be fired so I called 911 and got the heck outta dodge. People are crazy!!!!

Hey Skippy, Stay Woke!! Has Trump started launching nukes into North Korea yet? Has Trump fired Sessions yet?

N. Korea threatening to nuke Guam is a lot like somebody mad at you threatening to shoot the squirrel out of the tree in your front yard...

One of Campbell's great songs, though rarely played and hard to find for a download, is "Still Within The Sound of My Voice"...in there are these lines to describe his last attempts to reach, keep, and let someone who he's lost know that he still wants here: "I am calling like the echo...of a passing train that cries...one last time before it fades into...the distant hills and dies." Don't know if he wrote it, but he sure laid it down.

Flashback to Trump from 2012

Watch for him to launch a strike in Libya or Iran. He is desperate.

Libya's Quadafy was unavailable for comment. "We came, we saw, he died." giggle, giggle.

Why do most liberals choose to live in fear?

Anonymous said...

I did not realize that SMU was such as bastion for liberalism...

Enough so where a Koch Brothers funded PAC needed to come in save the day?

Next to America's opioid crisis, our country's Koch Addiction is just as big of a national issue. The explosion of fake 501(c) that are funded by Koch is staggering.

Thanks again Citizens United.

The first amendment protects us from issues with the government. Now, SMU has had a lot of leaders come out of it, but it is a private institution.

Jeffress is a frightening little man.
I have faith that God has pastors in place where He wants them for the reasons He wants them there and it isn't important for me to know why, but if I didn't have that faith, i'd be on a crusade (that's a pun right there) to get that guy removed.

Why do most conservatives choose to live in fear? Maybe because they put party before country.

I was on 30E a couple of weeks ago coming out of Dallas and the guy 2 cars in front of me got out 3 separate times and came back to the car in front of me just to look manly I guess. I couldn't get away from them fast enough. I thought for sure someone was getting shot.

Road rage guy looks nothing like the picture. But we all know a nice pair of shades can do wonders.

I think you have fear mixed up with disgust. I don't live in fear at all. I don't carry a gun or even a pocket knife. But I do have right wing and extreme right wing acquaintances that literally have bunkers built and supplied ready for Armageddon.

So who would you rather be? The guy that commutes all over the DFW area because of his work that does not carry a weapon of any kind or an individual who has a container buried on their property stocked with a year's worth of food and water, more guns than they can manage and thousands of rounds of ammo?

Which one is the free man?

Bill Clinton made similar comments in 1993 about annihilating of NK during a visit to the SK. Where was the outrage on here Then?

The North Koreans will walk the nukes across the Mexican border in backpacks and deliver them to the heart of our cities. They will probably recruit Arabs to do their dirty work because they look a lot like Mexicans who have easy access.

Anonymous said...

DF Whataboutism expert, you forgot to mention Bill Clinton's speaking about the agreement between China, North Korea and the US. He said that is was good for the US because it guaranteed that the North Korea would never be able to develop a nuclear bomb. Thanks Bill

The fact someone from the right feels a bunker is necessary speaks...VOLUMES.

How bout Bush and his Axis of evil speech declaring three countries evil and warning against allowing them to obtain nukes? Seems he failed on that account in NK maybe Iran but he did invade Iraq helping give rise to ISIS. Look plenty of blame to go around Dems & Reps own this not to mention Congress which basically gave up its constitutional duties concerning military action long ago.

Anonymous said...

Of course knuckle-dragging right-wingers feel safe. By God if NK sends a nuke at em they will get their 47 assault rifles , high power huntin rifles and 63 hand guns and blow that nuke right out of the sky!! And their darling Trump will stand right beside em

Anonymous said...

Why are flags at half staff?

Anonymous said...

What I find highly amusing is that you, Barry, are more skeered of Trump firing a nuke first- then an inbred, descendant of Mongols that pen dogs up under tortuous conditions, starve them, then at the appointed time, truss them up and disembowel them alive before consuming them.
Yep, me thinks you are a little disengenuos in your attempts at pointing out a proper boogeyman.

Not Sam

Anonymous said...

Of course snowflake liberal weenies are scared. If NK sends a nuke at em they will bend over and kiss their ass goodbye. And the sane people will laugh at them and wave goodbye to them.

At least do some basic research before posting idiocy.

Uh, like the world has never seen?

Counselor, is it an affectation of your Trump disorder, or are you really so obtuse as to fail to discern the difference in magnitude, accuracy, and numerical superiority thats exists today versus 1945?

No fan of the orange one I, it is nonetheless high time a U.S. leader showed the gonads to stop the policy of placation with respect to the DPRK midget.

4;41, My physics training was 2nd Bn, 1st Artillery, Germany - Cold War. Check out the size/weight/shape of the charge in a 155mm nuclear artillery round. And those were not highly enriched. Yes, a backpack nuclear bomb is possible. I have not heard of any physics class that teaches nuclear bomb making.

Why would God need to give permission or have someone else kill the North Korean leader? Is God not God? Needs help? I think not. This should be an easy one for God. First page of the playbook. Heart attack, bolt of lightning, etc. After all, God is proven capable of enormous creativity in this area; boiling toddlers in hot, locked cars; or blowing the wind in a direction that takes a boy scout sailboat into some high voltage lines. God has a gazillion ways to get this done. Telling a Dallas preacher to let the President know that it's OK to kill this guy seems like too many steps for a God.
