Great Play. And I Have A Great Question.

Why should that be a home run? In football, if you catch a ball and your feet come down out of the field of play, it's not an official catch. So why not a similar baseball rule?

Hypothetical: Say we've got a sky shot home run ball in the air. Could an outfielder jump over the fence and catch it and it would  still be called an out?

Nope. Rule states that if you start in the field of play and land out, it is still an out. If you jump the fence and catch it outside, it is a home run.

It would be kind of cool to try to see a baseball player toe tap to get both feet in bounds to make the catch, though.

Same reason a foul caught in the stands is an out. In the glove equals out.

Hey Bu...

If the ball is caught it is an out.

In MLB, there was a catch made in Boston by the center fielder where he came down on the opposite side of the outfield wall. At Fenway, that is where the bull pen is.

Most modern day parks have walls that are too high to climb, but there are a few exceptions, like right center at Fenway.

You are probably more familiar with players reaching or diving into the stands to catch foul pop ups. As long as the player catches the ball, he can land in the seats along foul territory and it is still an out.

Agreed.....if you don't come back into the field of play, that should be a home run. But that's not how the rule written..... but it should be.

some sports genius you are, trying to equate football rules to baseball!
In football, you're attempting to score by catching the ball. Totally opposite in baseball

Why are you commenting on a sport you claim to hate and refuse to watch? You hate it because of its ties to older generations and a better time in America. You want to see that America burn!

I doubt you really hate the game itself. Hate is too strong a word unless there is some underlying reason. If you simply think it's too slow you are just indifferent and hate would be an overreach. You hate white America and all of its symbols!

A rule is a rule, quit looking thru lawyer's eyes.

I think that this is Trump's fault that it is not an out and he should be impeached.
