Random Wednesday Morning Thoughts

  • Fox 4's Dan Godwin this morning said the Dez Bryant case would be forwarded to the DA's office and then to the grand jury for possible indictment. Nope. Misdemeanors don't go to the grand jury.
  • Is there anything less impactful that Tom Leppert endorsing David Dewhurst last night? (Note: Spellcheck says"impactful" is not a word. It should be.)
  • Hope Solo is on the cover of Newsweek  but the other headline above her reads: "18 to 35? You Are Generation Screwed!"  Based upon online reaction of financial crisis from that age group yesterday, that should have been the cover story.
  • I have been by two 18 wheelers this year when they had tire blow outs. Man, that's an explosion.
  • Prediction: This is the last season of Josh Hamilton with the Rangers, and the Rangers will be fine with that.
  • It is beyond comical that George W. Bush Institute has released  a book on the economy when in his final days Bush frantically addressed the nation on how the American economy was then on the verge of absolute collapse.
  • Baylor fans: RG3 signed his contract with the Washington Redskins this morning, and Adidas has released a cool commercial featuring him. I was reading Outliers again last weekend which speaks of how talent and hard work are important but how you also need the added element of being at the right place at the right time in order to be wildly successful. At the end of the Oklahoma game last year and with the score tied, Baylor tried to run out the clock to get to overtime. But OU coach Bob Stoops calls a timeout and Baylor changes gears and tries to score which it did in dramatic fashion. Had that timeout not been called, there would be no Heisman Trophy or the wild expectations that follow him now. A simple timeout changed his life.
  • Longest bullet point ever.
  • Heard on the radio this morning someone say that hitting your momma (Dez Bryant) is a lot worse than dog fighting (Michael Vick). I suspect if you watched the Dez incident (momma hit in the face with a cap) and the Vick incidents (dogs in bloody pulps), you would vehemently disagree with that position.
  • Do you think the EPA cares one iota that the city councils of Wise County towns are passing resolutions that oppose the designation of a "non-attainment area"?
  • The Messenger's Update lists an obituary of Michael Lee Lujan, 38, today.  There is a Michael Lee Lujan, 39, who was sentenced to prison for four years out of Wise County last year. Same guy?

That is not good BG. She needs to eat Bacon soaked in butter.

Perhaps the citys' resolutions are a legal maneuver of some kind?

Yeah you got problems if your goal in life is to keep Austin weird. Or Dallas weird or wherever.

Sportzzz!!
Headline in S-T today:
"Mom fingers Bryant in 911 call"
To start with - verrry unfortunate wording! How about "accuses" or "IDs"?
And regardless of the circumstances, you never want to see the word "mom" in the same sentence with someone being fingered.
Are the Mavericks still working on trades and free agent deals? There's a rumor going around (okay, started by me today) that they are working out a deal to bring in a player named Sunny D Miracle Whip

Hey, Bacon: Call the Aldinger Co. They can calibrate that faulty scale

other dumb stuff:
saw a promo last night for tonight's edition of Inside Edition.
Voice-over: "The Scientology E-meter! Scientologists claim that when used correctly, it can make you happy. But, what's really in the E-meter?!"
Cut to some schmo in a lab coat (electronics tech...scientist?) He's got the thing cracked open and showing the standard array of circuit boards, wiring, resistors. "There's nothing spiritual in here!"
Hey, Einstein! Spirituality isn't tactile or tangible.
What was he expecting to find inside there...a micro-angel? Or, since it's Scientology - a micro-alien from Orion's Belt? I'm not sure if it would have been less reedonkulous or more so if they had got the Archbishop of Canterbury or the pope to make that statement. At least they're so-called experts on the subject!

I certainly would not compare dog fighting with a momma who does not have sense enough to get between two fighting brothers..doubt very seriously if he purposely hit his momma. What an idiot she was for calling 911. She is probably the reason they are aggressive towards each other...or drugs...who know..and who cares.

No, I doubt many care about the EPA ruling,,,that is until their state inspection sticker cost them $30 or more dollars per year.

Anonymous said...

We knew the EPA ruling would be right behind joining the NTCG. And, yes I care.
My jaw dropped when I heard about the book the Bush Institute released, still trying to find my jaw.

Nobody screwed the 18-35's more than themselves with their idiotic beliefs.

BG, I disagree a bit with your implication in the RG3 point. The timeout led to a particular series of events and may have put him his current position, but it did not create his "success." His talent level did not change. If Baylor had lost that game and he hadn't won the Heisman, he might have been drafted lower, but still playing quarterback in the NFL. (And likely for a better team.) Talent and hard work may not guarantee success, but that's the way to bet.

"Effective" is the word you wanted regarding Mayor Tom's endorsement of the current Lt. Gov.

Poor Edwin Newman and William Safire are spinning in the graves.

That RTG might want to mix in an In-N-Out No. 1 Animal Style (or twenty). She needs more binge, less purge.

It's a T-shirt, just a T-shirt.
The slogan shows an appreciation of different/weird/fun attitudes in Austin, a city that is known for that; heck encourage and protects that attitude. Many people that love Austin, have gone to school there, have lived there, want the city to keep that fun and accepting and different attitude. It attracts a lot of people, because it's the fastest growing city in USA this year, which I wish it wasn't. I like it being the best-kept secret of people who live there. Unfortunately, it hasn't been a secret in a long time.

I have that T-shirt. I like that attitude. When you call it someone's goal in life, you clearly show that you miss the whole point of the slogan.
Lighten up, have more fun; I'm betting you are not just a whole lot of fun to spend the day with. You are wound way too tight!

Hey leagal expert Misdemeanors can be taken to a Grand Jury and many times high profile Misdemeanor cases are happens all the time.

Truth is...some moms suck at being mom.

The RG3 post was the absolute stupidest thing ever posted on here. Your comment is full of assumptions, who knows what would have happened if no timeout was called.

Maybe Obama can fix it where everyone is in the right place at the right time to be "wildly succesful". Obviously no one does it on their own through hard work.

Why do you need the Outliers book to tell you that being in the right place at the right time is important. Common f'ng sense. The key to being in the right place is being in the game, whether it be football or life, you have to get yourself out there. You can't hole up in your home and wait on the gubment to create your shining moment.

I guess you have never touched real boobs.

If by "real" you mean "boobs so small that no healthy girl could have them without puking after every meal", then you're right. I have not. That girl ain't healthy.

What's beyond laughable is that so many people SIMPLISTICALLY believe that George W. Bush and his wars and his reduced taxes alone caused the rotten economy when, in fact, it was Democratic policies that triggered this mess:

(1) Carter's and Clinton's Community Reinvestment Acts, which required banks to give housing loans to high-credit individuals — just so Clinton and Carter could appease minorities.

(2) Democrats like Barney Frank and Chris Dodd being in bed with the very financial institutions that weren't playing by the rules.

We can call people names who are investigating Obama's background but when actual facts start producing themselves and numerous people feel it in their gut that something is not right with Obama we had better start paying attention.

There is too much cover-up by the left for this man. I suspect that those who protect him have no clue to who the real Obama is.

I would say that 9:48 is correct [leagally] and BG is right practically. To my knowledge, a grand jury can return an indictment charging a misdemeanor, and if the district court does not have jurisdiction the district court will transfer it to the court with jurisdiction. However, this is pretty rare relatively speaking.

She may be a little thin but at least when she has a child and puts on the typical 20 to 40 pounds she will look great. My advise to young men is to choose an anorexic girl because they all gain weigh following the wedding. They lose weigh after a divorce and gain it again after a second marriage. It is a vicious cycle of campaigning and not maintaining the the body that was presented to the suitor. Bottom line is if you like non fat women then stay single.

I think the 18-35 'screwed' group should first look at their president and liberal leaders and thank them for making them more and more dependent on the government for EVERY THING they want, and then not having a plan to PAY FOR EVERY THING! People are not entitled to ANY THING. They need to man up and work! If you don't like the idea of being screwed, vote Republican in November!

Mr. Obama stated RG3 did not succeed on his own, the goverment did it for him, don't celebrate his accomplishments, praise Obama, he is responsible.

The EPA may not want to care what locals think, but the congressmen and senators who control their budget do. A dozen or so years ago when EPA wanted to do this a vigorous fight by Wise, Cooke, and Grayson county officials kept us out of the "non attainment area". All the other counties which border the big four metro mess counties have been paying the extra costs for years now. To suggest that counties north of the metro mess contribute to the dfw ozone problem is laughable considering the prevailing winds.

The government built the road in front of RG3's house therefore, it and only it, is responsible for RG3's success.

I'm in full agrement with the nature of your argument.
However, the correct word/substance is "silicone". I'm almost positive silicon breast implants would be immediately hazardous to one's health, possibly even fatal

I'm not a doctor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!

And we are supposed to trust in lawyers when it comes to legal advice? You guys can't agree on something as simple as the grand jury and misdemeanor relationship. Why should I pay any of you $thousands to settle anything for me?

Unfortunately for you BG, we don't know who any of the other incompetent ones on this site are.

Yes, they are 2:53. The sitting president of the United States created all these monsters. He's nothing more than a childish and ignorant community organizer whose main purpose in life is to incite violence.

People are complete fools. I cannot wait for the day to come when I get to say “I told you so” and I will, mark my words.

And, shame on the parents of these foolish kids.

Wikipedia:
Silicone is not to be confused with the chemical element silicon, a crystalline metalloid widely used in computers and other electronic equipment. Although silicones contain silicon atoms, they also include carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and perhaps other kinds of atoms as well, and have different physical and chemical properties than elemental silicon.

Now, who wants crystalline metalloid breast implants? Show of hands. Anyone?
Anyone?
