Because they are walking around Decatur placing this flyer on cars and trucks.
"Phil King MUST be voted OUT of office this November!!!" it ends. Heck, I didn't even know who was running against him in the Fall so I had to look it up:
Uh, if gambling wasn't illegal

OFF WITH HIS HEAD!
And so whats the point? Republican voters in Wise County are too stupid to care?
I'm with Barry and 1:36.
Wise county doesn't care about the rest of the country. Especially the inner city portions of the metroplex. How much oil and gas money from Wise county could be diverted to build basketball courts, gymnasiums, and swimming pools to downtrodden areas of Dallas to help keep young people off the streets?
We will never see that from you. Shame on you, Wise County!
Obama 2012
Interesting that somebody with such a strong agenda and opening paragraph has so little to back it up.
isn't it racist to imply that the path out of "downtrodden areas" is to build more basketball courts.
You know, jobs keep people off the streets, school does too. Morals and ethics probably keep people already on the streets from doing the wrong thing.
Basketball courts are just places for criminals to congregate while they are waiting for their next drug shipment to come in. (insert sarcasm disclaimer here)
Quick question though, once you've redistributed all of Wise County's wealth, what then?
Take Texas back and give
it to the Green Party?
Yeah that would work out well.
Might as well give it back to
the Mexicans.
Already doing that? Nevermind.
What happens if Phil King is as bad as this guy says? Would Wise County vote him out? or would they keep him in?
Seriously, at what point would a person have to be voted out? Do you need : an viable opponent, criminal charges, retirement, action on the voters part, etc?
Thank you, Rex. Great question.
After funds give young inner city kids a fighting chance, education, oportunity for college, and yes jobs, even more important, I think, is that it will show the state that Wise county is NOT the racist, backward, hillbilly county everyone thinks it is.
Wise County could be a leader in showing the nation that Texas is catching up to the rest of the nation.
Obama 2012
1:44, Why should oil and gas money from Wise County go to help inner cities? Am I missing something here or shouldn't those municipalities be responsible for basketball courts, gymnasiums, and swimming pools located on their soil. Or better yet, why should Wise County care about inner cities period. You sound like you want a hand-out, why not build it on your own so you will have something to be proud of. Or maybe Obama can spread that wealth your way! You Mf'ers always want something for free.
Maybe if the young men from those inner cities you speak of would go earn an honest living in oil and gas, they could invest some of that back in their local communities. You get what you put into a community, but I am guessing hard work and vision are not your strong points.
You would much rather set on your arse and complain about those who you feel have it a little better than you. I guess you bought into Obama's class warfare campaign hook, line and sinker. A person like you will get to your death bed one day and realize you never did anything with your life to be proud of; your entire life will consist of what you could beg, steal or borrow from someone who produces.
Green Party? Nahhh. Too close to sounding like someone on the left. NO VOTEE FROM ME
Basketball courts supply a safe haven for kids in the city. It gives them an alternative to standing on the street corner selling drugs. Plus, as an added bonus, kids get exercise which keeps them healthy.
Spend some time in Oak Cliff. You'll see the benefits Wise County could offer.

"Maybe if the young men from those inner cities you speak of would go earn an honest living in oil and gas, they could invest some of that back in their local communities."
Unfortunately, its been my experience that the young men and women from these areas are looked down upon and will not be hired from companies that could possibly improve their community. It's just another way we backwards thinkers of Wise Countyesque county deny inner city life from advancing.
See, you have to be told that before it'd apparent to you.
I can't wait for a day when we all can see the same goal. I doubt it will be in my lifetime, though.
Obama 2012
meh
To the Obama 2012 person -- we can only pray that the changes you seek will not be seen in your lifetime. With all the poor folks in Wise County, we can't afford to send money to Oak Cliff so the porch monkeys will have a place to hang out. Our own kids need our resources. Additionally, you indicate Wise County is behind the rest of the country. That's a broad, sweeping statement and I can only guess that, once again, we Wise County folks are being called racist. Well, maybe some are, but we don't have gang-bangers shooting up the county like in Oak Cliff...
Obama 2012 has been drinking kool-aid.
2:31
You mean your goal. My goal is for everyone to have a job and contribute to society. Your goal seems to be that we take care of people that are 75 miles from our area. My concerns are here at home.
Typical liberal. Give someone else's money away and pretend you have done something special.
Pretty naive to assume that the folks here in Wise County are hoarding all the profits from the oil & gas industries, or that we could dole it out as we please. That money gets distributed all over the place. Some of those companies aren't based here anyway, so I would think the money probably is helping to build facilities in large urban areas.
This isn't Southfork, and we don't all own oil wells and drive monster trucks. We struggle to build and maintain community facilities just like the rest of the country. You won't find a bunch of rundown basketball courts, but the Little League and soccer fields in most of our towns are fairly shabby.
How about if Dallas County cuts loose some of that $900 million or so from their operating budget to help out poor old Wise? I won't even care that some of the money comes from mill/billionaires living in HP/UP who made their fortunes in oil or gas
Accusing people of being racist is bad enough (Obama is also half-white, by the way - everybody seems to conveniently forget that), but what you're doing is equally as bad. You're a fine example of liberal gobbledygook logic.
Giving away a pile of money to another county with a huge operating budget certainly would prove something to the rest of the state. I don't want that label either!
hey maybe those "inner city" kids can move to Wise County and learn what an honest living is, no mama in tha projects prostuting to by her drugs, no thugs on the street corner selling they drugs. Victims, they can either use it as and example or an excuse.
2:31, The oil and gas industry has job fairs in DFW all the time, just show up and be somewhat presentable(very loose definition on that) and you get a job, black, green, brown, white or purple. Get a CDL and show up, you instantly move ahead of all the white kids there that don't have one. It is that simple, you don't have to tell me anything. Seen it a million times.
Show up with a bad attitude, pants dragging around your ankles and the story might be different. I guess what you call "backwards thinking" is to pass over someone who is showing no self respect.
People like you are holding inner city kids back by telling them to just be who they are, and that society should accept them for such. You tell them if they aren't accepted and given jobs it is because of their skin color. You couldn't be more wrong. You should be teaching them manners, self-respect, and skills to landing a job, but all you do is provide them excuses in exchange for votes, and some sort of twisted self-satisfaction and grandiose notion of intellectual superiority.
3:25 You are so right. Well said. Respect for themselves and others is all it takes. But they are taught not to respect others unless they agree with them.
"With all the poor folks in Wise County, we can't afford to send money to Oak Cliff so the porch monkeys will have a place to hang out"
Geez. Maybe Dallas County can fund some Anti-Racism classed down at the ol' Wise County EXPO.
Obama 2012
No person named Shameekwa, Dez, LaWonda or Barack have been hired by Devon.
Come on now 3:25.
Can you deny that the color if the skin has been the African-Americans downfall more so than the way they dress?
How many oil/gas companies don't hire from inner city because of color.
This is what wise county needs to get passed.
Obama 2012
If the Guy ain't Black Gay,liberal, and have a funny foreign name,I ain't votein for him.
4:17, How much money have you donated to African American causes and how many friends do you have that are black? Anybody but Obama 2012
Come on now 4:17 You keep stumpin the same BS, racism is individual. If an individual at an oil and gas company chose race to deny employment only he or she knows that. You seem to pick on the oil and gas industry, have you any evidence of them having a poor record when it comes to minority employment? This is all BS speculation, you obviously have no real world experience.
I can and do deny that skin color is a larger factor than behavior and dress when it comes to employment. You cannot legally descriminate based off of color. Oil and gas companies can only hire those that show up and apply, and they are all not based in Wise county. In fact Wise county is a tiny fraction of oil and gas production. Hiring practices are most likely set by executives in Dallas, Houston and other large cities. Your beef would be with them, not entire County of Wise....which doesn't control the global oil and gas market I might add.
Obama 2012
Wise County will continue to suck up all the Oil & Gas quick monies until the O&G has taken/used the county for all it's worth and then they will leave them behind in a toxic waste dump while the economic instructor slowly crumbles.
Phil King has SOLD OUT Wise County to Big O&G and these dumb Rednecks are too stupid to care or realize.
That's until their families start to come down with cancer years from now or their water is so unfit it cant be used for anything.
It's like I said ... They are TOO STUPID to care but the silver lining is in years to come ...
They all will be dead.
Matthew Britt (Phil King's Opponent) actually has a pretty decent platform.
Check it out:
http://www.matthewbritt2012.com/
He actually seems relatively conservative, here's his website and it has his platform that I just found.
www.matthewbritt2012.com
But I'll let you be the judge of that.
HAHAHAHA! Apparently there's an online petition to have Phil King step down!!
http://www.change.org/petitions/phil-king-drop-out-of-the-2012-texas-state-representative-election
Phil King is a disgrace. But even Jesus H. Christ himself would lose to Phil King if he ran as a Democrat. Wise County has become so backwoods brainwashed they will vote for anyone with an R beside their name over a legitimate Democrat candidate.
Need proof? Look at 2008 & Super Tom Bishop's victory over Dennis Hudson. The Democrat had to slap on a Republican label in 2012, then he won 3 to 1.
Same 2 candidates. The only thing that changed was the R behind one of their names.
Stay classy, Wise County!
Straight-ticket voting will be the death of democracy...
Straight ticket voting is what keeps getting you Rick Perry, Texas! What the heck is wrong with you? How can a state full of such independent-minded people "choose" to give up their voices to a man like that? He tried to SELL US OUT to a Spanish Construction company!!! (Trans-Texas Expressway anyone?) When it did get voted down by the legislature, he tried to jam it through anyway. People, he and his cronies do not care about you! They are milking you and your land dry while spouting "patriotic" sentiments. C'mon Texas! you are smarter than that..
1;44 must be from california. Why on earth would anyone think Wise county should send money to Tarrant.STUPID ,surely you jest?
I'm all for voting Phil King out of office. He's a typical self-serving ass of a politician. If you don't think Britt can beat him, you better look around at all of the incumbants that got voted off in the primaries. People like Florence Shapiro didn't even re-run because they know that everyone is sick of their crap.
Britt will have my vote as well as my huge ass Wise County family.
Phil King sucks!!!! In with Matthew Britt!
Straight ticket voting is just plain ignorant. BUT, give me Mayberry over Oak Cliff any day.
"Straight-ticket voting will be the death of democracy..."
I agree 100%
I would bet that just as many democrats vote straight party ticket as Republicans.
So you are right, it will be the downfall of this country.
Go visit King's office in Weatherford, and you will see exactly where his priorities are. His many companies, not the people who elected him. He gives R's a black eye.
Maybe someone should write into the papers criticizing straight-ticket voting. Seems like there are a few here who feel strongly...
I for one will vote for anything besides Phil King. And from the site, Britt seems pretty solid.
i have had to work with phil on several bills and issues where he did a great job of making sure of two things first how does it affect his constituents secondly how does it better texas i have worked with many legislators and phil is one of the few that stands up for what those who voted him in want this other guy is green party too bad he should run democrat atleast it is not as bad as green
