At the 45 second mark: "If you are a socialist liberal and/or voted for the current campaigner-in-chief, please do not take this class," Keller says in the ad's closing seconds. "You've already proven that you cannot make a knowledgeable and prudent decision as required under the law. Also, if you are a non-Christian Arab or Muslim, I will not teach you this class. Once again, with no shame, I am Crockett Keller." More.
@1:46: If he actually refused service to a customer based on the customer's religion - or race, since I doubt he knows the difference between a Muslim and an Arab, anyway - he would be breaking federal law. As it stands, he's doing the cyber-equivalent of putting a "no coloreds served" sign up...
But as I said above, I think the best solution is to ignore folks like Reverend Phelps and others desperate for negative attention...
Apparently, some of you missed this part of the article:
"The Texas Department of Public Safety is now investigating whether to revoke or suspend Keller's license to teach concealed handgun courses.
"Conduct by an instructor that denied service to individuals on the basis of race, ethnicity or religion would place that instructor's certification by the Department at risk of suspension or revocation," the department said in a statement."
Sure, he can say what he wants, but the State doesn't have to allow him to have a license to teach his class. That's similar to having the right to say what you want at your job...but the boss firing you for violating policy.
I wonder if his moment of fame and his pleasure in making these remarks are more satisfying to him than all the money he might have made teaching the class if he had kept his mouth shut.
What tripe! Say what you like about Obama, then consider the real idiots in congress. On top of that, consider the best the Republicans have put forward to challenge Obama. Get used to it, Obama will be there for 4 more years.
While I understand the guy's sentiment -- "I don't want to train people who want to hurt America" -- his outlook is bigoted and his words were stupid. Differentiating friend from enemy may be difficult, but it's in our best interest to do so. All Muslims are not America's enemy, nor are all Arabs. He has the right to freedom of speech, but he does not have freedom from the consequences for what he says. (That's reserved for Jew-hating Wall St. protesters and Democrat politicians.)
656 - The worst of the Republican candidates would still be an improvement over Obama. Under his watch, every American* -- other than his political cronies who have benefited from taxpayer-funded payoffs -- is worse off since he took office. (*Most Americans agree with me.)
No, 3:08, the reason for the law was to give people a legal means of carrying pistols around. Before 1995, NO ONE who wasn't a Peace Officer or military could, unless they were "traveling," a term not then defined anywhere in the Texas Codes.
So you had to rely upon the discretion of the cop on the street to determine who got charged, and who didn't. The way Texas traditionally had enforced the law what that "the right people" could get off with a warning or a slap on the wrist, and "those other people" weren't permitted to carry at all. You know, wink-wink, THOSE people.
The Texas CHL law is actually a strike for equality in our state.
Wordy, I find agreement with your 1st paragraph, however, your statement about our nation's current situation ignores just how bad it might have been WITHOUT the Obama administration's actions. We are indeed having trouble digging out from the mess of the previous 8 years.
1033 - What it might have been without Obama's actions? How about these scenarios, all possible if not for the actions of Obama and Democrat Congress since January, 2009:
- Chrysler reorganizes its debt, and thousands of secured investors (including pension funds and university endowments) don't have their investments taken from them and given to the United Auto Workers union contrary to the law and accepted practices. - The Obama "stimulus" package never exists, reducing the existing national debt by a trillion dollars. - Obamacare never exists, reducing the existing national debt by another trillion dollars, the spike in insurance premiums would not exist, and Americans would not face tax increases created to fund Obamacare. - Seeing stability and clarity in the Not-Obama administration's economic policy, companies expand and grow their businesses, building new facilities and hiring employees. (Contrary to the current uncertainty, with businesses sitting on their cash, never knowing if they'll be the next target destroyed by the federal government.) Without Obama's policies, unemployment declines and America works its way out of a recession.
These are all highly possible scenarios of what would have happened without Barack Obama's policies and actions. Everything he has done has made the situation worse.
The Texas handgun law is the result of a campaign by a woman who was in the Luby's at Killeen. Her parents were killed and she survived. Her handgun was in her purse in the car because it was illegal for her to carry it. She led a fight to get the CHL law introduced and passed. I'm a liberal democrat with a CHL. I took the course from a conservative gun totin' instructor who happens to be a friend, for 50 bucks. He had no problem giving me the course even though I voted for Obama, and will again. After I got my license, he didn't become a liberal, I didn't become a conservative, the world didn't explode, and were are still friends. Don't tell Crockett Keller about this, he might have a stroke.

As if a weenie would take a CHL class.
So, what's the problem here?
No shame, and not much in the way of brains, either.
Funny stuff.
Of course, the guy is trying to reach out for a lowest-common-denominator demographic.
Yeah, it is technically illegal. But it's not about that - it's about appealing to the droolers.
Everyone should thwart his attempt to get attention by ignoring him and NOT getting mad on cue... (but they probably will get outraged anyway)
Right to refuse service, correct?
His company, his choice.
Whoo hoo! Sign me up! Love it!
I guess I missed it, 1:18? Just exactly what law is he breaking? Geez!
I just love it when someone has the nads to tell it like it is and not worry about hurting the feelings of some liberals.

Well.....anyone who voted for Obama HAS proven they cannot make a knowledgeable and prudent decision under the law.
I completely agree with that statement 100 percent!!!!
I'm so glad rifles and shotguns are exempt from this stupid assed law. The only reason it exists is to perpetuate income for the state.
I think il vote him for president! Go guy, tell it like it is....
I think he said: I like to see homeless people nekid, or maybe it was Home is where you make it!

This guy is why Wise county looks like it does with trailer homes, cinder blocks, and 77 chevy's littering the frontyard.

The guy is a private businessman. If you don't want to do business with him, then don't.
