Ranger News

Although no one knows what the heck all of this means, the first round of the auction was finally completed (it took almost all day) with the Mark Cuban group outbidding the Nolan Ryan group by $25 million.
It sounds like the Ryan Group is griping about whether Cuban submitted a "valid bid" and it also kind of seems like they don't have any more funding to raise the bid. Maybe.
This guy has been doing a good job following the proceedings on twitter.
Edit: In the middle of the night, the Ryan Group won the auction.

Cuban told the Star Telegram a couple of weeks ago that he didn't want to get in the way of the Greenburg Ryan group, that he only wanted to be "a backstop", when all along he was a buyer of bonds that were attached to Tom Hicks' debt, bonds which he then used under bondholder status to review the team books, and then hop in bed with Jim Crane, a guy who baseball has already said won't be approved as an owner due to his backing out of a deal to buy the Houston Astros. All of this takes place because Tom Hicks was negotiating with Crane during a period of "exclusive negotiations" with Ryan/Greenburg. This thing doesn't end today.

4:02 IS correct, I admit. It IS a big deal for "any Texas Ranger fans that are left". However, those fans are fast dwindling (just like the popularity of professional baseball in general).

I should own the Texas Rangers.

What was the bid from the Barry Green Group?

How many million?

I heard that is the group responsible for launching this whole thing.

18 years ago when the players struck,TR Org. would only reimburse ticket holders for the games that got canceled w/ tickets to some future game, whenever that was to be, and refused outright any reimbursment on parking passes that @ the time where worth over $100/season. this season, I have attended my first game since then. But I tell you here and now, if Cuban et.al. win this "AUCTION",(because that is what it has become), I am through with MLB forever. He (Cuban) is nothing but a spoiled little rich kid who is going to have his way no matter what. And if he doesn't get his way, he will throw a temper tantrum (ususally in court). The word today was that if Cuban et.al. win, MLB will not endorse their ownership, and Cuban et.al. will sue MLB. How many years was the Davis v. NFL suit in the court system? The TR are looking @ a court appt. "owner" for years to come and a promise of Eddie Chiles mediocraty as a reward, all thanks to the scum bag Hicks mangt. But what else do you expect from someone who is a product of the "Evil Empire"?

was up until the end! All is right with the universe this a.m.! Nolan owns the Rangers! Just the way it should be!
and 4:44--if you think Rangers fans are dwindling, maybe you should check it out. People are filling up those seats and following everywhere!

Honestly, pro sports are just a way to get people to stop thinking about important things. The outcome of a game has little to no effect at all on the lives of almost all viewers

This picture just reinforces my belief that Cuban doens't have enough class to be involved with the Rangers and in no where on the same planet with Nolan Ryan when it comes to class!

You guys are a bunch of judgement making morons. Yes Cuban can be an idiot but to think that he wouldn't be a good owner is absurd. I am glad NRE won the bid but Nolan doesn't even have much money in the team, he is a very small minority owner.

Baseball would have approved Cuban b/c MLB needed this issue to be resolved. Crane on the other hand might have thrown a wrinkle in the approval but if baseball didn't approve the winning bidder then they would deserve to get thier pants sued off.

The Barry Green Group's bid was....

3 double decker tacos from Taco Bell

1 free enchilada dinner from the Rosa's of your choice

Access to the LL Blog(which is free)

Copy rights to the phrase...."Bubear hates the snow monkey"

The keys to the family truckster(the one that is falling apart)

Brock...(straight up)

And finally....

$17.83 in change from the family truckster console.

He was outbid by $2 by Nolan Ryan's group.

3 less double deckers....and he'd own the Rangers.

Damn, I hate it when that happens.
