Kinda Funny

The news today has the story of the rescue of the guy and his three kids who had been missing for three days after going off into the forest to find a Christmas tree.

The normally unfunny WBAP had a bit today with the Fake Andy Rooney who began, "Let me get this straight. We spent a million dollars of taxpayer money to find you all because you wanted to act like The Waltons?"

I believe I noticed this when the father was getting off the Helicoptor but not positive. Was the guy still holding on to a DeWalt cordless saw or was I dreaming? Considering the circumstances I just thought that was funny.

Well, did they get the damn tree or not.
you can go to Wal-mart and get one really cheap. BUT you stand the same chance of getting lost or killed at Wal-mart as the great outdoors.

i love reading obituaries. I think it's funny when it starts out by saying "so-an-so died peacefully..."

would you really ever say that John Smith died a "horribly violent and painful death..."?

I also like when "so-an-so died unexpectedly..." Like we ever really expect to die... i think there was a funny line in Fletch where they talk about dying suddenly...

Just some food for thought...

9:34 - I too thought it was funny that he still had his saw.

11:00 - fake trees are bad for the environment. Numerous studies have shown that the most eco-friendly thing you can do is to get a real tree.

So if I burn my fake tree after christmas, is that bad for the environment, too??

Who cares about the environment anyway. It'll still be here after I'm dead and my kids and grandkids are dead.

Let the liberals worry about the environment. I'm more worried about bombing and killing more people in Iraq.

11:24 - that's a very selfish way to live.

Christmas trees are a crop. Why would we be concerned about "saving the environment" and getting a fake tree in order to save Christmas trees that are grown on farms? Buying a Christmas tree is no different than buying a head of lettuce, an ear of corn or anything else grown on a farm. Yet you don't see people buying plastic corn in order to save real corn stalks.

Somehow I have a problem with the major networks featuring the antics of dangerously STUPID people as if they are some kind of heroes. Thankfully the kids are safe but the dad should have been left out there.

Recalling that the bodies of two mountain climbers who were lost on Mount Hood cannot be retrieved. Who in hell cares? No time or expense should have been wasted even looking for them. They went there in the off season, in forecasted worst possible weather and against the advised of park rangers. Duh? Good riddance!
