Decatur Water Shortage

From Fox 4 News tonight: "The Wise County town of Decatur is now under a water emergency. Crews working on the 380 expansion west of Decatur cut through the town's main water supply today. Two of the city's water towers were almost drained by the rupture. The water plant's storage was, though, intact. All residents are being asked to cut water use until the line is repaired." So don't water your lawns.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'd be happy to "conserve" water if I had any water to "conserve." We've been totally without water since 2:30. I don't think the news reports indicate the seriousness of the situation.

How can there be a water shortage? Nobody in Decatur takes baths. LOL

yes it is repaired, my son worked on it til it was. if there had been correct records as to place of utilities this would not have happened in first place

9:32, there are ways to conserve water even if you don't have any coming in. You are "totally" without water? Don't you have a water heater that is sitting with 40 or 50 gallons of water in it? You've got water in your refrigerator? Conserve means take stock of what you have and consider that it might be needed if the break lasts a while.

Why should we bathe? We'll just get dirty again!

I know full well the meaning of Conserve. I was simply making a comment that some people in Decatur didn't have any water to conserve. Unless I drain my hot water heater, that water is not coming out umless there's water pressure. By the way, the same goes for my refrigerator. I wasn't asking for sympathy, I was just making a statement.

Just another fantastic example of what a clusterf&*K the highway work in Wise County is.

We can add this to the list of...

"Massive delay in 380 project because concrete was poured too rough and contractor had to bring in grinders to smooth..."
"Having to go back and add accelleration lanes and deacceleration lanes at the last minute to the project before opening up EB lanes..."
"Planning the original project for Asphault in stead of concrete..."
"Failing to require a major sand plant operation to sweep and maintain their entrance and highway where they drop a ton of aggregate onto public highway everyday..."
"The idiotic 380-business 380 intersection the setup while the project is going... Can you please explain why there is no turning lanes?"

AND this is just on the 380 project... (originally planned for a 1994 completion)... Doesn't even bring up the complete goatf$%K that is the 1810-287 intersection... or the collossal joke that is 287-380.

IDIOTS. IDIOTS.

And to think of all the idiots in Decatur that have those godforsaken automatic lawnsprinkler systems. Just ask the public works people the percentage of water usage that goes to watering the lawns, as opposed to drinking and bathing. You will be shocked by the arrogant usage of this precious commodity. "We have met the enemy and he is US!" (From the old POGO cartoon)

I guess since school's out for Christmas this is what we're going to get on the blog (1:01 am).

Keep it up and Barry will be closing all comments again.

I prefer sh!t fire and save the match, but that wouldn't be such a good idea if the water supply was off, now would it?

I agaree 8:07 AM. Notice also the time of 1:01 AM--1:01 AM!! Obviously a "little kiddy" who's getting to "stay up late"! People like 1:01 AM are--to quote that excellently understated English phrase--"such a bore". In other words, no attempt at being clever or funny--a a total waste of this blog's comment area.
