"DALLAS - The Dallas Police Department has been awarded one of the largest grants ever given by the W.W. Caruth Jr. Foundation Fund of Communities Foundation of Texas.
The three-year, $15 million grant is expected to fill a funding gap that has contributed to Dallas' high crime rate, city officials said."
The total budget of the Dallas Police Department is approximately $300 million. They blow through that $15 million in a hurry.

Sorry, Barry, but I think the crime rate warrants the money. I mean, c'mon, you didn't househunt in Dallas, now did you?
Lot of great areas in the City of Dallas. A few bad areas like anywhere else, including I might say Decatur and Bridgeport.
Yeah but seriously, Dallas is on the top 5 list for the highest crime rates in the nation. Would you live there?
