What Does Facebook Know About You?

Find out how to learn the answer here.

And I don't understand it because I never use Facebook, but if you use their Messenger on an Android phone, you might be in trouble.

This is a treasure trove for lawsuits, criminal cases, and divorces.

Can't believe you seem surprised authorities are checking up on us via our facebook accounts....been going on for many years now...it's a treasure trove only if you don't set your setting to stop most of it. Best to minimize its use.

I've always suspected this was how many of the surprise arrests have occurred over the years. Investigations that begin out of nowhere, good thing is it's typically child porn folks who are caught. I think someone at Facebook played snitch a time or two.

Facebook is voluntary, not mandatory. Of course they monetize all information that users are so willing and excited to spill to the world. Facebook is free, and yet the company is worth billions. Doesn't take a genius....even a dull-minded person should not be surprised by all this.

I work in the telecom industry and have for many years. I have never used Facebook, twitter or any other social media.

I am not a big brother is coming to get you nut.

I just know not all employees at those places may be on the up and up, and they can access everything, and therefore sell everything.

I have a fake Facebook account for the sole purpose of investigating plaintiffs in lawsuits. It's a gold mine.

Facebook, Twitter, My Space: Never have, never will.

I have a phone, email and snail mail. I'm still in touch with everyone around me.

I just can't tell you what my grandchild had for breakfast, or what color his poop was this morning.

The bad thing is, we have raised a generation that will not blink at this. They are so addicted to technology that they are willing to give up their privacy to stay connected. I think they are in for a rude awakening in the near future.

I don't social media at all. If I want to catch up with a friend, I do it old school by phone or face to face. My kids, however, are all about the Facebook, Instagram, etc. They share such things as:
1. what they buy & how much it cost
2. what their kids are doing
3. where they eat & what they eat
4. where they shop for clothes
5. political opinions
6. religious opinions
7. where they vacation and with whom
8. numerous pictures of them, friends, and their kids.

We have one iron clad rule with them. They cannot mention Mom & Dad by name or share a picture of us in their postings. The rest of their life is an open book. Pure gold as far as data for marketers, Big Retail, Big Brother, evil doers, and data warehouses selling info.

Hate it. Privacy is dead. Modern Folks are doing it to themselves.

If you add together the numeric value of the letters in "facebook" they equal the numeric value of "Skynet".
Just kidding.

Since I am the one providing Facebook with information about me, I suppose "they" know whatever the heck I provide. And yet, this surprises people?

If you think they "know" only what you provide, you are one naive MOFO. Hell, I'm in my sixties and I fully understand they "know" more about you than you do.And they know more about everybody you know than you do And the fact that they would monetize that information and allow it to be manipulated to sway your opinions in an election, and virtually everything else is tantamount to brainwashing. If you're not all the way pissed you are indeed the root cause of this damned evil. And whether by sinister design or sheer negligence this is the direct fault of Mark Boogersucker. And now he wants to use his fortune to preach to you how to think act and live.

I called bullshit on social media from its inception and I am convinced it is more destructive than I imagined.

4:00, they only know what people provide and put out there. Period. If they know more about people I know than I do, then it's only because the people I know provide it. Trust me, old friend, they don't know you "like" pictures of dogs on Facebook unless you are clicking that you "like" pictures of dogs you see on Facebook.

Anonymous said...

4:00, Facebook knows nothing about me unless I let them know.

Anonymous said...

Who out there was "brainwashed" by Russians on Facebook? Nobody.

Anonymous said...

4:00, the only data Facebook has is what users provide, used directly, in combination with other data users provide openly in other social media applications, and whatever they "estimate" about people given various models and algorithms. It is absolutely optional for Facebook to know its little bits about you or me. We allow it.

Barry, please explain.

Anyone dumb enough to put their crimes and cheating and other secrets onto Facebook deserves to be found out. Facebook is not a problem at all for anyone until they SIGN UP WILLINGLY to spew their drivel on their in a vain attempt to feel important in life. Facebook doesn't ruin lives, people do.

Facebook is not the problem. Moms that have to post 10 pictures of their 6 month old while out getting the tires rotated with a caption "miss my little boo boo SO MUCH...can't wait till the car is done so I can go home and be back with my precious baby", and then while driving home risk their life just to see if anyone has "liked" it are the problem.

I really don't care what Facebook knows about me. I put the information on there, and none of it is anything that couldn't go on a billboard in downtown. Why is anyone worried about a silly software program that you don't have to use unless you want to?

Your denial is not actually fact-based. Idiots like you are what make it possible for Mr. Boogersucker to misuse an entire nation's data.

Look up the testimony of the individual on trial.
Remote Microphone use to gather information.
I thought it was a nonsense, Obama truther theory. But nope, apparently they gather "Ambient" noise thru your phone app in order to know what to advertise you.
