The Campaign For DA

Random Friday Morning Thoughts

  • The worst thing about being a criminal defense attorney is that you are rarely negotiating with the State from a position of strength. You have to appeal to fairness, consistency, and a sense of justice.
  • We have Harris County deputy news as this guy is arrested on child porn. (Side note: It got my attention that "The Grand Prairie Police Department, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Texas Rangers and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office participated in the investigation, along with the Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force." That's a lot of agencies. But what's Grand Prairie doing in there?):
  • This is what the Astros shifted to when Gallo was up to bat yesterday at the Rangers' home opener. It's insane. And it is also insane that a professional baseball player can't lay down a bunt towards third.
  • It gives me great comfort to know that Roseanne Barr is a Trump fan and that Trump called her to congratulate her for the great ratings of the reboot of her show.
  • Speaking of -- this is real. Those cookies are shaped as people:
  • And most people don't remember this:
  • By the end of the year, Fort Worth police might be able to shoot from the air if they get their wish. It's the continued militarization of police.
  • The "flyover" at the Rangers home opener occurred before the national anthem and during a moment of silence?
  • How much is this Greg Abbott trip to India costing us? He went sight-seeing at the Taj Mahal yesterday.
  • Rangers' beat writer Evan Grant was on The Ticket yesterday before the home opener and actually seemed distracted because he was in the dining area. And now we see this:

  • Laura Ingraham is learning that saying stupid things about a survivor of the Parkland shooting has consequences. Advertisers are fleeing (current count is 7) because the 17 year old kid fought back. She apologized once she realized she was in financial trouble.
  • And this is local radio talk show host Mark Davis, formerly of WBAP, in a nutshell. He comes to Ingraham's defense in a multi-Twitter rant last night, sanctimounsly lectures everyone, yet does not realize he has a greater sin.  Does 660 The Answer advertisers know he did this earlier this week?
    Last night
Earlier this week: He approved calling those teenagers who
    survived Parkland "little bastards."
  • Hot opinions at UNT:

I guess that we can stop the "militarization" of the police once the criminals go back to using simply shotguns and pistols. The criminals have some much more firepower than they were able to possess, say, 20 years ago.

Skippy, if facts are real, are they true?

We will see how much fuzz Hogg has on his nuts if he accepts to debate Alex Jones' son.

Children have led many great revolutions. China and Cambodia come to mind. It always ends in mass murder.

In Cambodia they didn’t dig the mass graves deep enough. The swelling of the bodies during decomposition pushed them back to the surface.

There have always been fools like Barry and the anti 2nd Amendment kids who either knowingly or unwittingly work to bring Hell on Earth.

Probably a whole lot less than when Michelle Obammy loaded up Air Force One with her mammy, kids and entourage and went shopping in Spain.

She will pick up more advertising than she loses. The Hogg kid is a POS who needs to go away!

Re Ingraham and Hogg - In this case I think Ingraham was wrong to go after Hogg about his lack of college success. Having said that, Hogg seems to feel that he can insert himself into the public conversation with impunity. He's using up his fifteen minutes pretty quickly, and his victim status will wear thin. He'd better get used to pushback.

Now that's what you call an uprising!

“Chappaquiddick” offers details that were little known about the devastating 1969 scandal involving one of the most glorified families in American history: the Kennedys. So, it is not surprising that the cast, executive producers, and director felt some nerves taking on the project.

For Byron Allen, Entertainment Studios CEO and co-founder and executive producer of the film, the pushback to tell this story came when he first decided to produce the film. “Unfortunately, there are some very powerful people who tried to put pressure on me not to release this movie,” Allen said.

Mary Jo Kupechne was unavailable for comment.

There is an off the wheels interview Trump lover Rosanne did on you tube.

Earlier today, NJ Advance Media reported that Hillary Clinton was being paid $25,000 to speak at Rutgers University, for a speech about "politics, American democracy and her role in shaping women's political history."

But to those who are familiar with the celebrity speaking circuit, it’s basically bubkes. Chump change. A drop in the DNC bucket.

In fact, Rutgers has a history of shelling out considerably more that $25,000 to notable speakers. Nobel Laureate Toni Morrison made $30,000 in 2011. Bill Moyers received $35,000 to speak in 2015. And — wait for it — Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi was given $32,000 for a Rutgers appearance that offered the sage advice, “Study hard, but party harder.”

Why is it never the guns fault when a cop shoots somebody?

I don't think the 17 year old is going to lead us anywhere. He may well lead a group of uneducated, everybody gets a trophy, gamers to prop up the Democratic party...but who can say, his fifteen minutes may be about up.

Ingram is shitty, but if Hogg wants to put himself in the spotlight as a spokesman of sorts, he doesn't get to hide behind the term "child" when called out.

"But what's Grand Prairie doing in there?"
Just a guess, but probably something to do with the interwebs? Every time some creep gets busted for child porn, it's always the hard drive evidence.

What's the "beef" with Evan Grant? That he enjoys a hot dog or two? Or he gets more enjoyment from the stadium menu than he does from what the Rangers currently offer? Your bullet point seems to be of the blunt nose variety.

There's a Street Preachers Conference?
they'll never win a championship...not one of the Power Five!

I love all the super tough guys here hating on David Hogg. That kid's got more bravery than all you rednecks here combined, you buncha keyboard commando schmucks.

Anonymous said...

Based on the current types they fly, Ft Worth cops already could shoot from their existing platforms. I’m guessing they choose not to by policy.

10:56 - The Khmer Rouge kids were super brave too. They just didn’t dig the mass graves deep enough.

1056 - Why do you think David Hogg is brave?

Re: Rosanne

She was a darling of the left until they found out she voted for President Trump. Now, all of a sudden, she is a hated alt-right person.

Talk about being a "fair-weather" fan. The left will accept all kinds of behavior (i.e. sexual deviants, using govt agencies for revenge, wasting $Millions on personal failed projects, etc...) but don't every have a conservative thought. That is unforgivable. Her new show wont last long. They wont let it.

I am tired of these "kids" wanting to be taken seriously and treated as adults until someone does. Then they run to their mommies and hide behind their skirts because someone was mean to them.

Which is it? Angry adult with an agenda or whinny baby child?

You can't be both.

I'm really not worried about being shot from a police helicopter. I'm not out stealing cars, robbing banks and killing people.

Wonder if those UNT students actually vote? Protesting and Facebooking are more fun, I guess.

All major league players can bunt down the third base line. All of them. It may not be executed well each time, just as the greatest hitters of all time are only successful 3 or 4 times out of 10. But they all know how and can do it.

Anonymous said...

10:56 There's nothing about the David Hogg situation that makes him brave. Punked out of his top 4 college selections, ridiculed on national TV, he challenges the person who did the ridiculing, and gets her to publically walk it back. Then, instead of being an adult about that, he shows the world the depth of kindness and compassion he possesses: he says he's going to keep going after her. Sure, that makes one brave. Sure, that shows a level of maturity. No, and no. It does not. I would want my son or daughter to be better than that.

I guess you are happy that the Koch Brothers, Trump and his cronies are destroying the Earth polluting for profit. What kind of legacy are you leaving your grandchildren? They'll live with bad air and a polluted environment, like in the 60's and 70's when US cities looked & smelled like Beijing.

Going after Hogg, I high schooler who could have died, is like going after the Sandy Hook elementary kids who survived. Wow, y'all have no shame and neither does Ingraham. It's all about press for her.

Your child leader is a spoiled brat that can't take criticism but can spew out vile language. If he wants respect he should show respect. Here's your child hero --https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2018/03/23/david_hogg_our_parents_dont_know_how_to_use_a_fcking_democracy_so_we_have_to.html

Defend that!

So, is Hogg a kid or an adult? From the commenters here, he's both. Here's an idea: he is debating about gun reform. Ingrahm went personal with her attack, so he hit back where it hurts--her money source. And it worked. She's lost sponsors and she's apologized.

David Hogg reminds us of a young Barry Green.

Air power can pacify a neighborhood with one chopper. A six barrel electric Gatling gun firing four thousand rounds per minute can take out twenty bad guys and a few innocents in the blink of an eye. Those are acceptable losses of civilians.

Why are all the NRA types on this blog worried about Hogg? All he is using are his words. You all have your stacks of ammo and multiple God-given firearms. Why does he scare you all? Your guns aren't enough to protect you from one kid? Just wondering.

He doesn't scare anyone, when someone pisses on your culture so openly and vitriolicly you are compelled to fight back! Calling me a murderer because I support the 2nd amendment is going too far. He is trying to shut down our right to free speech on this issue and if we don't speak up he wins.
