Arlington PD Has Probably Been Fudging Numbers: 15 Officers Targeted

Here's a question: Why lie about a traffic stop which did not occur? A quota? There can't possibly be a quota for issuing warnings (right?) so did they represent that they gave an actual ticket to a person who did not exist? Is their pay impacted because of the number of warnings/citations issued?

Note: They were suspended with pay.

Note #2: It's a State Jail Felony to make a false statement in "anything" which will be "received" or "kept" by the government if you intend to harm or defraud them. (See Penal Code sec. 37.10 and 37.01(2)(a).

Reminds me of the Dallas cops that were just writing tickets for made-up offenses and mailing them to the "accused" (if the accused were notified at all). I wonder if the folks in the fake Arlington traffic stops had out-of-town plates, were being personally targeted, or what.

Gotta keep those numbers up to justify the overtime and grants.

Now if we could get someone to review Rhome tapes of traffic stops.

Probably had supervisors that thought they weren't being productive with their time or meeting "team goals" (since quotas are illegal). Not wanting to actually play the bullshit numbers game, they called out on stops so that they could fill out their daily worksheet but without actually enforcing piddly violations just to generate fines for the city coffers.

I can almost guarantee they were working a STEP program in which they had to justify their being paid time and a half while working traffic. The supervisors won't call it a quota...but they'll call it a "performance measure". DPS did it all the time.
