Letter Being Sent Out In Chico In Support Of School Bond Election

Hey, I don't have any opinion on the Chico ISD bond election. But this was sent to me which admittedly isn't earthshaking but the emailer was a little disturbed that there was an immediate reference to Sandy Hook and Columbine to help persuade the voters.

It is a shame that who ever sent out the flyer has to try to scare people into voting for such an over inflated bond so the supt. can try to balance the budget! sad sad sad

LOL that is so funny!

If you don't vote for this then Satan will attack the School and take your kids souls straight to HELL!!!!

I noticed they didn't add in that they are spending 2.5 million on an Ag Barn in the letter. "It's all about preventing our kids from being murdered by crazy people"

Robinhood is new???? I thought for sure that started back in the early 90's. Somebody might want to do some fact checking before they send out mail outs.

This has GOT TO be the the stupidest thing I've ever read.

Full blown desperation right there!

I think Chico probably needs all the things this bond supplies. I have no problem with the mentioning of Columbine & Sandy Hook incidents because the surveillance equipment is most likely very expensive.

Anonymous said...

Sandy Hoax just goes on and on...

I would like to know who is on the Committee? Anyone know that? If they are stating that "we have no personal gain" in it then shouldn't they establish who "we" are? Also why would you point that out in this letter that is just flat weird and screams like you are trying to deflect.

How would this surveillance equipment stop those two events from happening?

Glass doors nor cameras stop bullets. You would be better off arguing they will prevent graffiti and theft than "mass killings". I think that is only used as a fear tactic and a piss poor one at that.

Great question. Who is on this "committee"?

But will the new Ag Barn have artificial turf?

If you look at the very bottom of last page in the "fine print" you will see Noel Ruddick's name. Maybe he's the one that wrote that up and sent it out.

What about the JFK assassination... more tax money and we could have caught all the perpetrators and not just one.

Vote yes to stop presidential assassinations and your kids will be safe!

2.5 MILLION?!?!!?!!

Decatur just did one for a third of that. Boy have I missed something over there in Chico? Hooked on Phonics people

So if the Chico Bond fails does this mean that Noel has now lost 4 school board elections in a row? That has to be a record right? Someone get Guinness on the line we need some clarification

Vote NO. This bond is overinflated.

Anonymous said...

This is ALMOST as crazy as the DISD bond for a lot of the same fluff. Why cant they just say hey I want turf and a indoor turf field and be done with it.. Oh its because the VOTERS have voted it down so many times they have to do a end around. It's for the kids hahahahah

Already drowning in debt from previous Bond that went over budget why would anyone trust these people with more money??? The pure reckless content of the Bond package alone showed complete disrespect for all of Chico. I don't know if the pumped up numbers were an attempt to balance the budget or just someone who did not care but the vote will speak loud and proud of what the community thinks of wasting its hard earned money. This Bond has GOT TO GO in the trash!!

Voting no because the few kids who would use the 2 million agricultural facilities to learn how to show at the county fair is not worth an increase in my taxes. The threat of some nut killing our kids is not worth an increase in my taxes because if someone is going to be crazy a bunch of money to lock down the schools won't help. The mail out by the group didn't change my mind.

Anonymous said...

You can't give maybe $8.00 a month to go towards the KIDS safety, education, environment, and to make their future bigger and brighter? If the community would support these kids of Chico ISD more good would come to the whole town. The kids are the future of what happens around here. Why not give them the best of the best? Why not try to make them strive to be more? Why keep them limited and held back from what they could be? The bond is the first step needed to be taken in order for that to happen. Chico will not grow out of their old closed minded ways if we don't move forward with this change. The potential the school district has is limitless. It has to start with the community supporting those kids.

Don't forget the $300,000 to put canopies over the baseball/softball bleachers! Guess those 15 parents don't like sitting in the sun. What about the $250,000 for restrooms at baseball field? Can't Ruddick just donate a couple of port-a-potties to the baseball team. Talk about the Taj Mahal of restrooms. 2.5 million for an Ag facility is just ridiculous. This bond is overinflated to cover up the accounting mistakes for the past 4 years. They want $500,000 for a new roof on the MS and the insurance company wrote the school district a $250,000 check last year for a new roof. So a new roof will cost a total of $750,000 to replace. That figure does not include the AC units. WOW!!! Vote NO!!

At least the Chico candidates pay for their own political signs. Alvord's trustee want-to-be had to get that loud mouth Yankee electrician to help him out. It makes you wonder who's agenda will be pushed through if the wanna-be manages to get on the board. It sounds like typical Alvord politics.

Yes safety is what we ALL want for our kids bond or no bond. That is not the issue people...the issue is that our finances have not been handled properly in the past and that's why we can't afford what we need now because of mis management and over spending. Does anyone realize that we employee more coaches than any other 2A school?? That there are 5 coaches that do nothing during basketball season!? Yes a few powerlifting meets...really!? While other coaches don't have any "off" season these 5 coaches including our "wonderful" AD do nothing! Our AD doesn't even show up to school half the time and when he does its9,10...whenever he wants to get there! Maybe we should look at cutting coaches and hiring important things like...a counselor....a certified nurse....you know kinda some important key factors to benefit our kids?!! And oh ya some of that wasted money on coaches could be saved and spent on SAFETY!! Wow can you say smart budgeting! You are talking about giving our kids the "best of the best"....I'd rather have key people in place for our kids within our school system than wasting money on "looking pretty"! That's giving them the best! Kids are spoiled today with getting anything and everything they want. That doesn't make them better....it enables them to be spoiled and weakens their minds so that they feel like they HAVE to keep up with everybody else in order to be successful. Some of the best schools academically and athletically have mediocre facilities. They focus more on making their kids mentally tough!! If you want high class facilities...then move to Southlake! Balance the budget first THEN we will have enough money for safety and roof repair and AC/Heating units. The rest can wait!

This is a direct result of mismanagement. If there had been proper stewardship, none of this would be an issue. The planning committee should have planned on HVAC wearing out. Same thing with restrooms and a concession stand. They didn't see those needs for a baseball field? There is never going to be enough parking at the football field even if they pave the entire school property. Again, poor planning.

The Ag Barn we had when I attended CHS was 1 classroom and a 1 bay shop. We learned Ag just fine, but we had a great teacher. You don't need a $2.5M facility to teach Ag. Frivolous waste.

This entire bond is a direct result of waste and mismanagement. The taxpayers aren't going to bail you out because you didn't plan well. Use some of that higher education and figure out a solution within your budget.

People asking who were on the committee. This was listed on the back page of the flyer I got.

Does anyone else realize that five out of the seven current school board members have a spouse, relative, son-n-law or daughter that is currently employed at Chico ISD. Also, two of the three candidates running for school board have wives that work at Chico ISD. Those two wives have had many conflicts with the superintendent and the athletic director yet they claim they have no agenda. This school board problem first started when one's daughter got her coaching privileges removed and soon after her father and his friends ran for school board. Ever since this incident, they have had a negative influences on decisions made. These certain school board members have always voted against any recommendation given by the superintendent or AD that was in favor for our kids or anything of that matter. It has all been about revenge.

Anonymous said...

I think they should get rid of the useless girl coaches in the middle and high school. And a couple more male coaches in that high school. just get a whole new coaching staff. That will help cut the budget for the rest.

Anonymous said...

And let's not forget at one point he had a handicapped son, who would not have been able to get around those fields easy or use a port-a-pot. so excuse him for wanting something good for all kinds of people. You people should really feel ashamed for any negativity thrown at that man.

Wow just got my mail and saw the bond proposal from the school!! Now this all makes sense.... I want to know who in the heck voted for this and thought it was a good idea?!? WASTE

The bond issue calls for buying land for the new agricultural facility. The mail out from the superintendent did not say the plan for selling or giving away the old ag barn and land. The school board vacated all the schools and land to build a high school and elementary school. Most of the buildings are not being used creating because they weren't good enough. It is past time to say no to poor management of our tax dollars by people who like to spend money on building and football.

Anonymous said...

I think the bond money will be used for operating since the president of the school board wrote a letter to the editor saying the school was operating in the red. It is time to stay on budget. No more bond issue bailouts!

Brian hand running that's funny he should just keep his head down in this town. Kind of funny he started to show up for everything for the school since he decided to run and he gets 1st place for the most signs on every corner.

I grew up in this town and have many fond memories. It wasn't perfect but for the most part people loved one another and filled our local churches and supported our school. Unfortunately our town is now in turmoil because of some wrong doings at the school and some mis informed citizens and now everyone is turning against each other. People that I remember being members of church together are now in conflict. Can we not come together again somehow? We may have to agree to disagree sometimes but this is all very depressing. Yes I agree there are a few things in the bond that are too much. Maybe we should express that concern and work TOGETHER to reduce the bond for just the necessities. Then maybe more people would be on board. We as adults are supposed to be on one team making a better life for our kids! The ones that will pay for all this turmoil going on is our kids! Let's come together!!! Forgive and forget and move forward! I would love to see a town meeting take place and everyone say their peace and I would bet that some people's eyes would be opened and truths would be told and then we could move forward together!! Some people do not know the whole truth about some things. I think if they did their opinions might change on both sides and we could have peace! Everyone is forming their opinion based on bits and pieces of stories stemmed by vicious rumors. The whole truth and nothing but the truth needs to be revealed. We are not all this different from each other....just mis informed! Please everybody I challenge you: put your personal feelings aside, be willing to listen to the truth, let's come together for the sake of our kids! We are all missing out on so much in our lives because our focus is on fighting against one another! Let's move forward together: One Community, One Focus, Moving Forward Together

Thank You!

Just my opinion----

When a school proposes a bond, I think the results have as much to do with how the community perceives the district's school board and upper administration as it does how the community perceives the actual need for the bond elements.

There's no doubt schools need bonds to pass, but often the fact that the upper leadership doesn't have the community's support, keeps it from passing. THAT'S the REAL PROBLEM!

My guess is that's the case with both Wise County bond proposals on the table now.

School's need additional resource that a bond can provide, but districts also need to realize and understand the public's perception of the school district. The leaders should WANT to know why bonds don't pass, and why teachers leave in drones, and why students move across town or across county to private schools.

They should create committees with a microcosm of the community's representation, and not just friends of those on the inside. The community sees right through this nepotism.

They should ask and listen to what the taxpayers have to say. If they want the community to support a bond, then include them in the process - include as many of them as you can. Don't close your door to the taxpayers. Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

And if you're the only school around without turf, ask the taxpayers why they're not voting in favor of turf. My guess is that they're not voting for turf because they can't support those offering it.

Making excuses won't cut it. Don't blame it on the ignorance of the community or voters - you should know better than to insult those you're trying to win over.

And how about going to neighboring areas whose schools are similar in size and ask what worked for them, how'd they get new facilities, turf, etc.

And don't make decisions the community can't support in dealing with the classroom. Don't add elective teachers in areas where you're already overstocked, at the expense of eliminating core teachers. That's not in the students' or teachers' best interests.

And when a bond doesn't pass, ask why, and LISTEN TO WHY IT DOESN'T PASS. And if the leaders in the district can't earn the community's trust and respect, then let them go, and find someone who can.

That's the only way you'll ever get the community to buy into what you're offering.

Hey 1:39 lets get the revenge thing laid out correctly! It started with the group of girl athletes parents that went to the then newly hired carter and told him to get rid of that coach. Since then he has admitted he was wrong and apologized many time to her. That same group has been responsible for the over hiring and over spending on stipends in the athletic department. Ask the new coaches about getting a $10,000 raise each going from a 4A school to a 2A school.

I about fell out of my chair when I read this. I find that your delusions of adequacy to be quite humorous.

"Our students need the best facilities we can provide to keep them interested and competing in sports. As we are all aware, sports keep many students in school. This is an investment in our kid's future."

Investment? Are you nuts? Let me translate this for you, "This is nothing more than trying to keep up with the Jones's on the taxpayer dime. I got some bad news for you, the Jones's are broke".

Nonetheless, "AS WE ARE ALL AWARE", the athletic department in Chico is little more than an over paid, over rated, over inflated ego driven, bell cow establishment that's nothing more than the same ol' my kids are better than your kids because of the "Name Brand" of their background. This kind of backward thinking dirty politics have run rampant here for years, nothing new.

This whole country is in the toilet and your telling me that sports is the be all/end all in keeping our children in school. Seriously, I think I just woke up in the Twilight Zone.

This is a textbook example of putting "Your Athletes" up on the proverbial pedestal and to hell with anyone who does not agree.

Here is just a little insight of what Chico's mighty athletic program did for me just one short generation ago.

I was tortured by "Your Athletes" for 2 years of Jr. High and 4 years of High School...the athletes were allowed to terrorize myself, as well as my peers, hazing that included daily beatings on and off the campus...most of the time by multiple "athletes". I was beaten up, spit on, money and property stolen, destroyed or vandalized, tires slashed, car keyed, etc. I have to wear a mustache to this day to hide the multiple scars from having my face bashed in on a daily basis. Imagine that, and nobody saw a thing. Don't you dare tell me what these "athletes" need as an investment for our future.

These "athletes" were protected under an umbrella that allowed them to operate under a different set of rules, with a business as usual sense of entitlement that was all swept under the rug so their precious "athletes" could participate in sporting events. They could do no wrong, seemingly untouchable.

These despicable acts of straight up violence all came under the watchful eye of the athletic director and his goons. I should be naming these toothless thugs, but you know who you are. Too bad now your old, short, fat, bald, broke, in jail, and some are no longer with us at all. Hows that dope working for ya anyway?

I have multiple children in the same school now. I can assure you that my children will not be subject to the same 6 years of bullying, hazing, and absolute hell that "Your Athletes" were allowed to bestow on me personally. I can assure you of that my friend.

This bond smells so bad the buzzards have to hold their nose to eat this pile of dead pork !

Vote "HELL NO" to this bucket of bologna.

This is what your "Athletes" can do for you ... depending on which side of the fence your on.

That is all.

A NON-STUPID Voter! said...

Hey Alvord! You better wake up and listen, because this is the same crock the Rice guy is promising all over town. I bet it wouldn't be a Cry Fest if it was one of your kids getting the crap kicked out of him in the locker room floor that showed up from the phone camera.

That footage would have been much more memorable had it been taken inside one of these new proposed facilities. Lets bring that subject up for the sake of discussion. These are the same facilities that we as taxpayers are being asked to provide to keep them interested and competing in sports.

As we are all aware, sports keep many students in school.

Until you or one of your children have been dragged outside the gymnasium with a lawnmower pull cord around your neck and beaten like I was, you can take your CRY FEST comment and shove it.

The real Cry Fest was when I wrote a check for $8200 to pay my school taxes this past January. Lets compare your tax bill with mine and then you opinion will be taken into consideration.

Anonymous said...

This story sounds a bit dramatic. Something like that would be taken pretty serious I believe and not just shoved away. Charges would be placed and handled well because I believe if you were dragged by a cord you'd have marks on your neck and could easily move forward with a police investigation, and kids be expelled. And if this did happen, why have your kids go to that school?

For those like Brian and Hand and Chad Patterson and those on here who want to complain about the money going towards the AG facility...do you have kids that show?? NO you don't. Spend some time at our AG barn...its the one right next to the new crusher...you probably didn't know that did you! Its horrible. Your child can be in UIL, sports, band, one act play and so on and it does not cost you money. Go talk to some AG parents and see what they are spending just so their kids can show! Thousands of dollars are spend every year by kids to show and though we have excellent ag teachers our facilities are a joke. I would bet the majority of the kids that show are now keeping animals at their homes now but what about the kids that can't do that or live in town?? Did you know that the biggest part of your pig barn has no running water for pigs because it isn't plumbed so in the winter when its below freezing those pigs don't have water. Spend some time a the county show this year and see what Paradise, Decatur and Bridgeport show up with...there is a lot more pride coming from their side of the arena.

Anonymous said...

When I was in AG, we has 1 classroom, 1 shop and we kept our animals at home. See how that works? Cost a lot less than $2.5M.

VOTE NO.

Did I miss something...who said Chad Patterson and Brian Hand don't want the Ag facility?? JW..if you are going to post something please don't just make things up. This is all already a big mess without making false accusations...just saying. Don't think that's fair to those 2 guys. Sounds like a political joust from an opponent to me.

Anonymous said...

The truth will set you free - how much property do you own to pay that much money anywhere in this county - my goodness! That is just ridiculous and maybe you should have that checked out by the appraisal district because I think they may have figured that wrong!
Also if this town and school is so bad and did that much torture to you why in the world do you still live here and why would you put your kids in the same school???? Makes no sense!!!
1:17 I agree with you - A little dramatic! A whole lot of a little! Goodness!

1:24 - I agree! The ag facilities need help and just to have them closer to the school would be so nice. The kids make trips over to the ag barn daily and to have it close to the school would be so beneficial to everyone. Ag kids buy their own animals - they have to pay for their own feed and everything else that goes along with showing. The school does not pay for them to attend shows or pay for their travel. The least the school can do is give these kids a place for them to keep their animals that they can be proud of.
Along with everything else - you put all the schools together at a county show or at a sporting event or a UIL event - look who comes with pride. Our kids are lacking because we are so behind on the times that it's embarrassing!

I encourage everyone before you vote on the bond go look at the AG barn. Then let's see what you think!!

And please stop with the mentality of "it was good enough for me it's good enough for these kids" Please - get over yourself.

We are talking about Chico, TX school taxes right? If we are, then I find it hard to believe that your taxes were that much! Also, if that really happened to you then that is very sad , but as you are now an adult surely you can see that your situation has nothing to do with the kids that are in school now! Being an "athlete" has nothing to do with the behavior that you are describing! I also was in athletic at Chico ISD for 6 years and never, not once saw something like that happen. Don't base your vote on a group of kids from years ago. If you vote NO to the bond then you are also hurting ag kids and really the school as a whole! I guess you want them to all have a heat stroke without new ACs? That will show those athletes!

I'm pretty sure everyone in Chico would of heard about a child being pulled out of the gym with a lawnmower chord... calling BS on your story. & by the way, it's against the law to have cameras set up in the locker room but it was a good try to act like you knew what you were talking about!

So my apologies for these cowardly people (person) to Noel,Tammy, Brian, Chad, Pancho & Mark...what a shame! It's people like you we can do without in Chico. YOU are the biggest part of the problem!! Venting about issues and stating your opinion is fine...calling out names without leaving your own....COWARD! How embarrassing this whole thing is for our town! And all of this is caused by a handful of mis-informed people who love to gossip. Hopefully this will all be over soon enough and those who don't like the outcome can leave. It will only make Chico a better place!

Anonymous said...

Nobody says Chico doesn't need a new Ag facility. The problem is the price tag. Boyd, Bridgeport, Decatur, & Alvord have all built or are currently building new Ag facilities and none of them cost $2.5 million!! Check public records. That includes two 4A schools (Bigger). That price does not include the $250,000 to purchase the land. The problem with this bond is it is over-inflated. One million dollars for transportation! A new bus costs about $100,000-so we are going to buy 10 new busses! Really! We already have several new busses bought the last few years. Why is this bond over-inflated is the question everyone should be asking. VOTE NO!!!!

Anonymous said...

Not wanting a 2.5 million dollar Ag facility and not wanting an Ag Facility much different there little miss.

Anonymous said...

Everyone should remember that this process for presenting a bond for the citizens to vote on started 3 years ago when the board began to look forward at what the needs of the school district would be. Being proactive instead of reactive , this bond is to cover these issues for the next 15-20 years. Balancing the budget is a critical issue, but without this bond passing, the cuts necessary to cover those items will be very deep and across every campus, and every activity. I hate for my taxes to go up, but I would hate worse to cheat the children of chico out of the very best education possible . As a committee member , we looked at the needs of the district, and presented those needs to the board. The board narrowed down the needs list by a huge amount. Had they not, the bond package could have been twice as much.

YES YES YES Everyone vote yes!
(Two can play the shouting game)
No matter what you post on this blog behind this screen and feel like you can mouth people who you'll never be able to actually tell to their faces, the minds are made up. The ones who will vote yes will vote yes. And the ones who will vote no will vote no. The minds have been made up the moment it was proposed. So all you've done is say terrible things about good people. And kept your identity hidden(sorta) so that you can still act somewhat kind to these peoples faces. Please tell me other towns are as bad as ours. Unity really would make the difference. Good luck to the candidates and I pray some kind of change will happen in Chico. If it's not the bond then I hope a new beginning.

7:38, three years ago when the committee reviewed a long range plan for the present bond issue due to drilling and good oil and gas prices the tax base would support new facilities. The tax base for oil and gas will sharply decrease this year and may not recover for years. Along with decreases revenues are job losses and decrease in royalty checks. I've never voted no to a school bond issue until now. The tax base is not secure and my income is down. The committee needs to go back to planning something we can afford.

A NON-STUPID Voter! said...

Hey Alvord! You better wake up and listen, because this is the same crock the Rice guy is promising all over town. If he gets elected, the building program Schedcik laid out at the March board meeting will be a done deal and you can you can watch your tax rate go up $.20 for every $100 in valuation you have!

8:29 AM

You are correct on one item, you are NOT a a stupid voter.....you are just a kool-ade drinking friggin moron.

First, Schedick DID NOT propose any building plan, contrary to what the potato server has told you.
Second, the Superintendent had sent an e-mail to board members naming some areas that were in need of improvement and possible expansion.
Third, NOTHING was on the agenda about any "building", it was an informal discussion at best, lasting less than 3 minutes. The majority of the board agreed SOME of the items needed to be looked at and acted on at a later date.
Your WORM on the board has given the "potato server " misinformation again and idiots like you create controversy anlong with your cult leader.

Hey 7:55:

Since you weren't there, and MORE than TWO board members are talking about Schedicks proposal (including the board pres.) your lies and propaganda don't hold water. Why don't you drag your schiteatin yankee ass back to New Jersey where you came from. You will increase the intelligence of both places.

Where are you getting your information 7:55? Who is your worm? You apparently have inside information that only board members would know so why don't you come clean?
Rice was the one spreading the building plan according to 8:29. Does that mean that he was misinformed?

Hey Alvoid trolls! Get your own blog thread-this is for us Chico trolls!! VOTE NO!

Alvord is the next Chico, or didn't you get the memo? There are only two posters who use the "koolaid" phrase. One is Sergeant Alvord, the other is his evil twin, the Dukester. Both have the same mental capacity as the Jersey Yankee. Those three amigos make Chico look good!

I Would like to apologize for Alvord. The majority of us are simply voting for change on the school board. Change that would end constant animosity, superior attitudes, screaming at other board members and turning chairs to face the wall and ignore a discussion in open session. How embarrassing to have a board member who is a college professor act that way. This professor and his supporters are spreading lies about his opponent to gain votes. Stick with the truth please.
BTW: Texas has a cap on property taxes. A 20 cent increase is not a possibility.

2:57 PM

The discussion was made during Open Session........Rice is not "spreading" anything. He was there and heard the members giving a brief report on a facilities inspection letting the board know about issues like 5-7 teachers having to teach in 1 classroom at the same time and how our growth is going to require expansion or improvement....
The "worm" you mention is an old time board member who, like a use to be member, likes to spread untruths and generate controversy.

LOLOLOL....You are so far off...... It's neither...the reference to kool-ade stems from the Jim Jones followers who were stupid enough to have them drink the poison..just like your little group who never attend the board meetings and get twisted second hand info

You're completely wrong, since you weren't there either, thee majority of the board was in favor of needed improvements. They asked that a list of all improvements be constructed, by priority, and look at what needs improved most. The Elementary school is top priority.
You ignorant followers of J. Jones have nothing better to do that spew poison at those board members when you don't have the audacity or gumption to attend board meeting and get first hand info. Instead, you wallow in the slop spread by an instigator who has nothing else of value in life to do than constantly create issues with absolutely zero substance.

Don't bother with the truth. The majority of the Alvord voters don't care nothing about the truth. I say just let them vote in another Dunn clone and watch them self destruct.

4:04 You of all people shouldn't be talking about twisted facts. I haven't seen anything on this blog that actually resembles facts. All I see is name calling and back stabbing which has become the norm in Alvord. I have also seen black and white information that supports concerns about your school board president and other members. That is what I wish someone would post. FACTS. Not this BS that has "zero substance."

I was a member of 2013-2014 Facility Review Committee. I say WAS because we dissolved the committee since we did not all agree there was a need for the bond. I was against the bond then and I am against it now. Our review uncovered poor management and neglect.

Columbine/Sandy Hook... really?

The Middle School roof should have been repaired 10 years ago. It's been poorly maintained and managed.

There are countless grants for technology and other educational needs. Maybe the money spent on the firm to put this bond together should have been spent on writing proposals. All of you in favor of the bond realize they get a big fat check for managing the funds? CHICO ISD funds have been mismanaged enough in the last several years.

The Ag facility is a huge display of years of poor supervision and neglect. The Teacher we allowed to live there should have been required to taken better care of it.

The ADA requirements have been in place for a very long time, why didn't the sports fields get built to those standards?

With the economy being so poor and numerous layoffs and business closings in the oilfield industry this bond will only and more insult to injury.

Who ever 6:26 is needs to run for school board in place of some of the idiots on the board that supported the bond, ie...T, Bo, Ca & R.

I kept hearing about this blog and decided to check it out. I have never seen such vindictive, rude and misinformed comments!! i have lived in Chico for 40 years or more and know most of the people being talked about! The men on the board are good, upstanding, hardworking men of our community! They work hard to make good decisions for our school! You may not agree with every decision they make, but have no right to put down, call names, and ridicule these men! It is possible that you are just not knowledgeable enough about the decisions being made to judge these men. There were only a handful of people that attend school board meetings and attended the bond meetings.
Overall the bond proposal WAS probably thrown together too quickly in order to try to get it prepared to vote on. There was a committee made up of trusted community members to decide on the most important needs of our school. It is not the school boards job to make all the decisions and come up with all the solutions! They are presented with proposals and then vote on the proposals! The board did feel that the bond could be voted on at this time based on the committee, Mr.Jones, and the architects recommendations.
Board members are not paid! it is a thankless job as proven on this blog! They are regular people trying their best to make good decisions for the children of our community!
Our board at Chico has had some trouble with not being unified about certain decisions. That is normal! Not everyone is going to be 100% unified at all times! They definitely need to work on that! It doesn't help that all of the voters and people on this blog are trying to take sides! It doesn't help when people make up gossip and try to manipulate the voters through hatred! There is a group out there on a power trip. People that haven't been able to get on the board and try to run it by causing trouble and starting propaganda.
Everyone should take a step back, look at the board members as people trying to help our community! They will revamp the bond. They will probably try to get more bids and make it more feasible. They overall seem happy that the voters let them know how they feel and will work to fix the problem! They are not idiots! I would like to see you try to do everything they and still work full-time jobs!
As far as "different sides" go...let it go! Nobody's names should have ever been drug through the mud! Both sides should let it go!!Dragging Chicos name through the mud doesn't help anyone.
As for 6:26.... Come on really? The AG farm is 45-50 years old....the teacher living there does what he can but things are falling apart! It's not his responsibility to spend all his time and money fixing it! Hence the bond! Roof poorly maintained? Really?? It is over 20 years old! Hence the bond! You can have your opinion.....doesn't make it right!!
Become me on Chico! Pull together!
