Oh, My

Police say an elderly woman from Wilmington, Delaware has been interviewed by investigators for driving the wrong way on Interstate 95 in suburban Philadelphia, leading to a number of crashes.
The woman, an 84-year-old, was interviewed at her home, according to the Pennsylvania State Police. They say charges are pending.

It was jarring to watch as the driver, and she may not have even have realized she was going north in one of the southbound lanes on I-95. (More.)

Keeping with the classic movie car scene theme today, the driver with the camera should have been shouting "You're going the wrong way! You're going the wrong way!"

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
"How do they know where we're going?"

Neal Page; He says we're going the wrong way...
Del Griffith: Oh, he's drunk. How would he know where we're going?

For what it is worth, I thought she did a pretty good job of driving the wrong way!

She didn't do a good job, the OTHER drivers did an excellent job. They were avoiding an oblivious idiot.

Just more evidence that the extremely aged should be required to do more than pay for and take a new photo to renew their driver's license.

My m-i-l nearly killed herself and another driver because she refused to give up her license, even though she was nearly blind and daft as a bat. There was nothing family could, legally, do to keep her from driving. Good luck getting a doctor to straight up say their patient is too blind and/or daft to drive, especially, if the patient can sufficiently read an eye chart in ideal conditions.

81-year-old
84-year-old

According to the Alzheimer's Association, "One in seven people over the age of 65 will develop the disease, according to the association, and about half of the population of people over 85 will be diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Keep in mind, that does not even take into account dementia associated with "mini strokes" and/or diabetes. However, AARP will fight to the last dollar for the right of every daft/blind/impaired senior citizen to have the right to kill themselves and others while driving with a license.

I also disagree with people under 18 being granted a driver's license. Just look at the number of FATAL wrecks caused by teens.

I agree with the Mz on this one....old folks should NOT be allowed to drive. They should force them to retest and actually watch them drive, think, process, and see before renewing anyone over 80 ANNUALLY. Period.

One of my mom's dear friends is 83years old. "Gertrude" was driving to their nearby Cici's Pizza (Dallas area) two weeks ago. "Gertrude" was slowing down to turn into the entrance. She managed to confuse the brakes with the accelerator. "Gertrude" sped into a street light and destroyed her car. The police took away her license at the scene and we now have one less danger on the road. My mom agrees that it should be taken away. However whenever it's HER turn it will be a different story. She's 76 and drives like a sail.

sail = snail

A guy sitting watching TV one night hears a knock at the door. Opening the door he sees nobody. Confused, he turns to go back in and sees a snail on the porch, kicks it away and goes inside. Exactly one year later the same man sitting watching TV hears a knock on his door. Again when he opens the door nobody is there. He looks down as he turns to go back in and the snail says

"What did you do that for?"
