Why is Rick Perry Not Approved Of By The Tea Party?

This post prompted by the comments below today's "Random Thoughts".  Rick Perry is not liked by the Tea Party because he doesn't represent its values? Really?   His anti-federal government, anti-big government, anti-tax, pro-10th Amendment is exactly what the Tea Party stands for.

Like Kay Baily, he is pro illegal immigrants. Actions speak louder than words.

Perry has jumped on that band wagon, which is the same wagon most of the people who were just re/elected are on, but he has not governed that way. He, like many others, are counting on amnesia/uninformed by the voters as he goes forward in his political career.

Hey, Skippy. Do your research CORRECTLY before you start quoting who stands for what. There's more to the line than you wrote!

Even a Tea sipper thinks paying for his subscription to Food and Wine magazine is insane!

Perry has been studying to be president like his bosom buddy Bush. We need more choices. How would you like to go to the store and see only two choices for something? Same thing with US political parties. Only problem is that there is an almost insurmountable block on third, fourth, fifth, and son on parties in the US. We need new blood.

Barry simple he says he is not for big government but his actions say otherwise. He says he is a fiscal conservative but spends money like a lottery winner. Stands in front of the entire state and country and says he does not want federal bail out money and then gripes about not getting help with flooding and other government relief. Not to mention that he claims to have a balanced budget yet has over $20 bil dollar deficit. He has become the longest running governor in state history. A true tea party guy would want term limits even on himself. The Tea party is against all of the above. The Tea party does not hate government just thinks the government should be for the people by the people not by the government for the government.

All that said Perry is one hell of a politician. He beats the hell out of every person that dares run against him even when the media and citizens think he is going to lose.

He should be endorsed, he believes in minimum wage jobs (lots of em), outsourcing, and an abundance of foreign made products on U.S. soil, just like the Tea party prefers AK-47's and Glocks over U.S. made firearms.

He has NOT secured our borders and worked to get illegals OUT of our state! That's ONE reason Tea Party followers don't like him.

He also talks out of one side of his mouth and does another. Reason number 2.

Maybe the TEA party people don't believe his rhetoric, either.

Perry needs to read these comments and forget about running for any higher office.

William Buckley Jr. once said something to the effect that the most difficult part of getting the Conservative movement going in the 1950s was excluding those groups who might agree with you on some issues, but whose stances on other issues were beyond the pale of respectable opinion.

The idea that Tea Partiers would embrace a politician based solely on what he said during a campaign assumes too much gullibility. It's certainly not in their best interest to let the opposition determine who is their standard bearer.

Rick Perry started out as an elected Democrat and helped host parties for Governor Ann Richards. Now he is Mr. T Party and Mr. States rights.

He really stands for two things:
Getting re-elected and getting elected to something else.

10:12..."media and citizens think he is going to lose."

In what election did you think he was going to lose? The polls have been very telling all along, the idea that White would win was at least a huge stretch. I am not saying I support him but anyone with a brain new all along he was going to win!

You are all just sore because you were too stupid to beat the system.

I renounced my U.S. citizenship, moved to Mexico and swam back. Now I make 75K, pay no taxes, don't insure my car and have several assistance checks come each month. God I love this country.

Viva Zapata! (I think that means something about comfortable shoes but I could be wrong)

Obviously Perry is a political jerk. But any sort of jerk can get elected in this state with and R behind his name.
