Man, if you want to see some fascinating Texas criminal justice numbers, check this out.
I was having a discussion with someone yesterday about how every little incident becomes a "big deal" to law enforcement these days. You never see a situation where the cops simply tell a knucklehead to straighten up and go home. Every technical infraction of the law leads to an arrest. Which then leads to a formal criminal case. Which leads to the mind boggling numbers you see in that link.

Hey Barry... I know you're really bright and all... but have you ever stopped to think that you probably don't hear about the thousands of times that the knuckleheads are warned and sent on their way simply because you don't get to line your pockets defending their sorry arses! And to think that half of the other "bright" folks that read this probably believe the crap you spew out.
being in the law enforcement field i want to let you know that more people than you think are told to just straighten up and go home. you dont hear about it because there is no need for defense attys when this happens
Prisons are big business in Texas.
The prison industry complex is one of the fastest-growing industries in the United States and its investors are on Wall Street.
The majority of the prisoners are black and hispanic. When i read this, I think slavery.....
According to the Business Observer; the federal prison industry produces 100% of all military helmets, ammunition belts, bullet-proof vests, ID tags, shirts, pants, tents, bags, and canteens. Along with war supplies, prison workers supply 98% of the entire market for equipment assembly services; 93% of paints and paintbrushes; 92% of stove assembly; 46% of body armor; 36% of home appliances; 30% of headphones/microphones/speakers; and 21% of office furniture. Airplane parts, medical supplies, and much more: prisoners are even raising seeing-eye dogs for blind people.
Wow those numbers do the talking! The biggist mistake we made was when we took law inforcement and made it a business. It is intended to be a public service hence "public servant".I have been on both sides of the spectrum.Officers that let me slide for minor offences(a very long time ago)and recently being dragged thru the ringer for doing something that i had absolutely no idea was illegal!Had to hire a lawyer. He even said it was an obscure law! This is an example.Wise county is a dry county even though license are given to sell liquer. But according to the alcohol board anything over a 5th is illegal to to have in your posession! That came straight from an agents mouth!45 years old no priors tax paying citizen.I use to think everybody that gets into trouble deserves it.But unless your familiar with penal codes statutes commision rulings my advice to you is have a good lawyer in mind because you could be next!
follow the money.
I got pulled over by a STATE trooper in the area! I was pulling 98 mph in a 55 when he zapped me with his radar! He dove into a ditch to turn around and come after me! But seeing his lights come on and his manuver to turn about I just pulled up in front of his car where he wouldnt have to bother,,,lol He got out of his car laughing and asked me how fast i was going? I was like Oh hell no you tell me how fast you think I was going? He said he nailed me at 95 mph I said sounds about right! his next question was so is that that new CBR everone is talking about? I asked Specificaly this one...lol? His next comment was that thing dosnt even begin to breath under 100mph does it? I said no it dosnt sir! He walked around and looked the bike over all the while very cool about everything ! Then told me that I needed to take it elsewhere if I were to continue those type speed's! Asked me why i was going so fast and again asked me about the speed I had been running? I told him that I really liked the texture of the road as it had been recently resurfaced! He siad yep I understand that then to my surprize added LOOK my fellow state troopers Dont get it @ all they dont understand that power to weight ratio and the fact you can shut it down from those speeds in very very short time! they only see them as somthing to get everyone into trouble!
He told me to take it else where and with ticket book in hand ripped out A warning and told me to have a nice day! I was so shocked I alomst dropped my bike! As he turned to leave I told him "sir to be honest with you I came over that hill with this gut feeling and sure enoght there you were...lol Prior to running into you I had pulling down 140 to 165 mph! He smiled and siad I dont doubt that for a minute!!! "again TAKE it elsewhere"!!! Yes sir I said and by the way do you think you could "EDUCATE the rest of the officers and troopers regarding these BIKES"? He laughed and siad he would! You know I belive him too! Just wish I knew how he was as this incident took place well over a year ago! For the longest time I would llok for him @ a local resturant as I wished to pick up the tab for his meal or somthing like the sorts! Unfortunatly I have never RUn into him in such a setting and Dont think I would know him if I did as it was long ago! But somthing I will not forget soon!
Then On the other extream I been busted for doing 3 mph over and 9 mph over and those cops were really jerks ! They stood there writting me a ticket while sevral HArley's went by None of which had helmets on And I am sure didnt have the required sticker or ins to be able to NOT wear the proper gear! I am in a full suit getting busted for 3 mph...lol SO you cant say some of these guys arnt cool! I just wish more where educated to the CAPABILITY's of the braking and POWER to weight ratio that the STATE TROOPER was all too aware of! Last I will state that I am aware that some of these guys by these bikes and OUT ride there RIDING ABILITY and cause guys like myself problems with the PUBLIC and the LAW! I am not one of those idiots splitting traffic on one wheel! I am respectful and aare of the damage that somthing going the speeds I do at times can inflict! I have been riding for 30 years now! And never out ride my riding capability's!And Always wear my gear!
There are lots of incidents for which an officer makes a decision to simply "break it up" or otherwise avoid arresting anyone. We just don't know about those because, by definition, they don't show up in arrest reports, etc. I sure hope I don't get caught up in one of those random police sweeps...the kind where they just come to the house of a non-drug user, non-drunk driver, non-purse snatcher, etc. and simply arrest you for no reason.
Everyone should have a striper pole in their house. If you need one just let me know...I'll give you a discount and will even show you all those fancy tricks ;)
11:38AM - Dear Donorcyclist - if I am in need of a brain, and you become a donor due to an unfortunate cycling accident, I will say in public, I'll pass on receiving the contents of your head.
Let's not forget that crime is a billion dollar business on both sides of the law. There is no chance for change when criminals, Lawyers, Security personell, bondsman...ect have figured the system out just enough to turn a profit.
Less strict laws mean fewer caught criminals to pay for all those in business to make money from crime, except the criminal who're then making more money.
If you're one of those that want to lessen the laws then you must be 1 of the 21 or next.
12:35 I just saw a clip of a guy doing flips off of a 172 ft tower. How crazy is that? Donor cycle(lol) At 135 mph he is at the top of third gear still with three gears left to go. I belive he mentioned "rider ability" did he not? I bet you he " donor cycle"wouldnt think of doing flips off that tower!Just because you belive he has a lack of gray matter dosnt mean he is fool crazy but more likly very good at his SPORT.Glad that we all have our strenghts and weakness or we might all be like each other. How boring would that be?
I got a ticket the other day in Decatur on the road between Walmart and McDonalds. The officer was really nice. He could have given me more than one but didnt. I dont run into many cops that give me tickets and I still like them.
148 you ran into the cop...? is he ok..??
As a(n)...
Back in the day of "Making Laps" in Bridgeport, we spent many a night where the Police would stop by one of the many parking lot conventions, (Russell's, Diamonds, IGA, Old BHS, DQ, etc.) and check out the scene. More than once a beer or two was present. I don't ever remember anyone even getting a license run, much less busted. But the Police would always check things out to make sure we weren't being stupid. And 98% of the time we weren't.
Other funny thought, do kids still cruise? It was fun back in the day, but I am guessing that it is uncool to today's kids.
Can you imagine if those pieces of trash were on the street with our families? Thanks guys for keeping u just a little bit safer.
Moral of the story....don't do drugs......you'll go to jail. Let me know when to vote to execute drug dealers. I'll hop in line.
