Judge Rejects Plea So Prosecutors Drop Charges
The story:
State prosecutors decided Tuesday to drop charges against a former Tampa teacher accused of having sex with a 14-year-old middle school student.
The decision, announced hours after a judge rejected a plea deal for Debra Lafave, means the victim won't have to testify.
Prosecutors and defense attorneys had urged the judge to accept the deal for the sake of the boy involved. A psychiatrist who examined the teenager told the judge at a previous hearing that the boy suffered extreme anxiety from the media coverage of the case and does not want to testify.
Marion County Circuit Judge Hale Stancil, however, said the lack of prison time for Lafave under the plea deal "shocks the conscience of this court," and he rejected it.

YES I WOULD...............OVER AND OVER
The only anxiety the boy has is that she will go to jail and he will die from a terminal case of blue balls before she gets out.
OK, so if it's a man that rapes a 14-year old girl, and charges are dropped so that the girl does not have to testify, what kind of message is that. The message is, go ahead and rape girls, just be sure it's very embarrasing?
And do you suppose there would be female posters on here responding, "yes I would...over and over" to the pic of the male rapist?
It's no different. Women should not be treated differently than men. She needs to go to prison.
LIKE A SCREEN DOOR IN A HURRICANE!!!
i want her so FN bad right now i wanna scream!
Relax folks, this teacher is sorry about this event. She criticized the extensive media coverage her case received, accusing reporters of invading the privacy of her former student.
"I am a strong Christian woman," she said. "I believe that God has a path for me, and this was just a bump in the road."
Oh - it's ok, she's a strong Christian. Guess that makes everything just fine.
makes it fine in my book.
can come to daddy little teacher, you have been a bad, bad girl!
What made me sick is that they said she was "too pretty for prison" and now in house arrest??? Give me a break. Although, at times I have to admit I have jokingly thought UGLY should be a crime. But when PRETTY is used as a reason to not have consequences for a crime, that just validates what's wrong with the world.
She also blamed bi-polar disorder. Give me a break. I do believe bi-polar is a real mental illness, but don't know that I would agree that what she did could have been a result of having bi-polar disorder. Doesn't make a bit of difference WHY she did it anyway. She committed a crime and should be punished. Don't just say "sorry it was a bump in the road of life - God will forgive me".
Me likes me some Debra LaFave
I ALREADY DID, BUT SHE DOESN'T SWALLOW. I WAS DISAPPOINTED AFTER HEARING ALL THE HYPE ABOUT HER.
IT WAS STILL PRETTY GOOD THOUGH, SHE WASN'T USED TO SOMEONE OF ADULT STATURE.
