Political Junkies With High Speed Connection. . .

. . . will get a kick out this video clip from yesterday's Today show. David Gregory was filling in for Matt Lauer as he interviewed always-worth-a-giggle James Carville and the right wing nut case Laura Ingraham. Ingraham wants to blame the Today show for the bad news coming out of Iraq, and wants the program to broadcast some shows from there. (Which is a great idea if you want to see Katie blown to bits, but not a good idea otherwise.) It gets testy. Link here.

Then Katie wouldn't be able to take over at the bastion of journalistic integrity - CBS. I'm not sure Katie for Rather is a step up. (and Rather is about as bad as it gets)

And by the way, when Carville is on a program he would be the one who is considered a "nut case". Leave the giggle up to Katie.

Katie blown up? Wow, send Today to Iraq.

I think both are examples of what Churchill was refering to when he said a lie gets half-way around the world before the truth gets it's pants on.

Why is it when you disagree with the Bush's plan you are ...UN-Patriotic or "You do not support our troops" and ...

It is every ones fault but their own.

Bush's Legacy went from ...

How is Rather as bad as it gets? Apparently you never followed what happened anyway moron. He is a broadcast journalis-not a writer. The writer is at fault, not the person saying what the writer wrote.

I do agree with Ingram, in that I have heard of and seen many people that have gone to Iraq and experienced what's going over there and they will end up having a totally different vewpoint than what they had before. Pro military etc doing a good and noble job. The military folks I have talked to, that have been over there, are alarmed at how negative the media is on all points about the war. Never have anything positive to say.

m&m, the problem the media have is that there is much more going wrong than going right. Yes, the troops are doing some very good things. However, 3 years after the start of the Iraq war, there is actually LESS electricity being generated, there is LESS drinkable water, security is very unreliable and the elected government is unable to get organized and actually govern. These happen to be facts. It's not the media's fault that they report "bad" news - it's just much more prevalent and important than the good stuff.

Let's send Ingraham to Iraq and let her report on all of the great progress being made. Oh, she should not need body armor or a security force. And no electric generators or water purifiers. She must also use residents as her interpreters. Then allow her to wander the country reporting on the "good news." I'd really tune in for her reports in these circumstances.

Anon 6:24 pm I don't think so. The reports I've seen like on water, even the first year we were in there, they drilled wells for towns and cities and supplied water for them that had never had a water supply like that before. And I know there were problems with the electricity at first, but not anymore. I know the government is slow at getting off the ground here since the election.

Ingraham did go over there and spent six days going out with the troops and meeting the Iraqi people etc. It was in Feb. Check out her website for her journal and photo's.

I've talked with three different soldiers who spent time in Iraq, and they all said the same thing: "Nobody says anything about the good things going on over there." Maybe it would be better if Saddam was still there. Let's ask all those who have a different religious tribe than his, since they were and will be the victims of his mass tortures and executions...
