The Campaign For DA

3.01.2018

Random Thursday Morning Thoughts

  • Atmos Energy held a press conference with all of its top brass this morning at 5:00 a.m. due to the home explosion in Dallas. That might be the earliest press conference I've seen. (Throw in men and women in suits and every local network affiliate covering it live, that was one early morning for a lot of people.)
  • But I'd have the conference before dawn if I were announcing that the company was shutting down natural gas delivery to almost 3,000 homes in the area  for three weeks while they make repairs.
  • Speaking of early. I woke up at 4:45, showered, got dressed, and then learned that the reason I got up early did not exist at all. Mrs. LL was guilty of some Fake News the evening before.
  • Trump throwing the AG under the bus on Twitter is bizarre. Make no mistake, Trump is still livid that Sessions recused himself from the Russian Investigation which gave rise to Mueller.
  • The Texas Wesleyan baseball coach had a strange response to a kid who wanted to play baseball for his team.
  • If Hope Hicks is gone, how long will Sarah Huckabee Sanders put up with it? But I think, perhaps, she enjoys the pain. (Side note: Anyone else wonder what Hicks and Trump's relationship was really like considering his past?)
  • He's 76. She's 38. The New England Patriots owner is a new father. (Jerry Jones needs to step up his game.)
  • More Twin Peak Biker news: The DA "announced at a press conference Wednesday morning that he intends to dismiss 13 Twin Peaks shootout cases and will refuse 24 others that had not been indicted." That brings the total to 58 vindications of the 177 bikers arrested. Please, dear McLennan County, vote him out of office next week. I saw this coming from the start.
  • This is from the official ATF account posted yesterday. Talk about tone deaf.
  • That "mission" is nothing to be proud of. Seventy-six people died.
  • Jared Kushner's businesses received a half billion in loans from two companies after meeting with him in the White House? Of course "there's nothing to see here."
  • What? Am I just now hearing about this? They focused on the Cardinals in season one and the Rams in season two. I hadn't heard anything about the Cowboys. (And let me place my bet on "nothing".)
  • Shout out to the guy at the gas station yesterday who looked at me and asked, "Are you Barry Green? I read your stuff everyday."

I'd bet a body part that the P***y grabber in chief grabbed a little bit of Ms. Hicks.

76 people died? More like murdered.
That raid was a liberal politician supreme epic failure.

Anonymous said...

I thought it was 86 people.

76 was the number of ATF agents that went to serve the warrant.

I thought warrants were served without the use of 76 ATF agents, without blackhawk helicopters, and without a command post. Serving a warrant usually requires one or two additional officers, right?

I get the "are you [big handsome guy]" treatment when I go back home all the time. Always makes me wonder what's coming. Half the time it's a Friday Night Lights moment--and it's been 30 years. The other half they're pissed at me because of some political stances I took locally--and it's been over 10 for most of those. But it's always enlightening.

I don't think there was anything with Trump and Hicks. She was dating that wife-beater, after all. She came from Ivanka's clothing business, not Trump's usual stable.

At least you found out your schedule was different than you thought before you left the house. I hate it when that happens to me after I've driven down I-45 to the courthouse, made it up to the court, and then get something along the lines of "the other side called and announced settled" or "we're canceling hearings today because eh judge is sick". Both happened to me this week.

I'm not sure Reyna is going to lose. There are a lot of people there that love him, and his dad was DA for a while. He also beat one of the longest-tenured DA's in the state at the time.

I was driving down Waco drive when that smoke started gong up, and even from miles away I knew what had happened. Turned on the radio and the announcers were all pretty upset. For years we had Branch Davidians coming into the law library.

Trump and Kushner are getting the only thing they wanted--bailed out of their tenuous business dealings. They're no better than the average grifter gypsy. But the evangelicals love him.

Re Atmos--Years ago I heard that they have gas lines in the hundreds of miles (or more?) in cities like Dallas--all getting old and rusting and rotting (if installed many years ago)--and there's coming a day when it all falls to pieces. That day is here, I guess?

Sessions referred that FISA issue to the IG because the IG is precisely the correct office to handle an allegation of misconduct or "abuse." Every cabinet department has an IG office (led usually by a career, not political, employee) whose mission is to "investigate waste, fraud, and abuse."

Do they have prosecutorial power? Nope, but they do have federal law enforcement authority to conduct an investigation and, just like every other federal law enforcement agency, present findings of criminal wrong-doing to ... wait for it ... the DOJ.

To Barry...

Shame on you for the Fake News.

According to a representative for the New England Patriots, Bob Kraft isn't the father.

"Last fall, Ricki Noel Lander became the proud mother of a beautiful, healthy baby. While Robert Kraft is not the biological father, he is thrilled with Ricki’s blessing of having a healthy child. With respect to her family’s privacy, we will not be commenting any further."

2016, Brett Shipp did a piece on faulty gas lines after a home in the Lakewood area exploded. If I remember right, the sum and substance of it was that the lines are basically snap in place, and shifting soil can put enough pressure on the lines to snap them off, leaking gas and causing explosions.

Not even close but I don't doubt he tried. She's been implicated in Comey firing email cover and now cooperating with Bob to hang her boss and save her own butt. Good reason to resign immediately. If she did not, then we would know she didn't flip on him. She did and she did. What will her bully nickname be? "Unfaithful Hope"?
I suggest "Glorious Hope". Squeal clearly into the mic you glorious pig.

Every day, the Dallas gas cut-off area gets closer to my house. ~4700 feet away as of this morning...

Really, that's an incredibly offensive "side note" re Hope Hicks. Try vetting that with Mrs. LL next time.

The Texas Wesleyan Coach's watch always reads 4:20. Wonder why?

With all the recent vacancies in the Trump White House, let's send Wordkyle's resume to the Office of Personnel. Solves two issues: gets him off this blog and lets him live his dream in Crazytown. Win - win. Now about mzchief........

Barry, on a separate item, the McCain ladies appearing on The View and taking Trump to task for more catty remarks on the ailing US Senator was great. The McCain family obviously hates his guts and with good reason.

@ 9:28 - Yeah, it's completely evident the goofy f**ker doesn't know (or care) how government functions.

got a little inside knowledge on the Atmos stuff, old pipes get old, doesn't make any sense to replace them until they start to give. I mean we are driving on an interstate highway system built by our grandparents.

that being said, as much natural gas as this state uses, I'd say Atmos is doing a pretty good job and I hope your bretheren don't decide they smell blood in the water. I'd hate to see good people lose jobs and 401k's tank because some lawyer decided he could make a quick buck

Everyday Trump continues to prove he is smarter than the rest of us. We fall for every little distraction, meanwhile no one really knows what the hell Washington is doing anymore because the purported free press in this country has taken sides. I'm old enough to no longer give a shit, but some of you sheep (both sides) are in for a rude awakening one day.

Good for the baseball coach, he needs to work on his wording/delivery, but rules are rules and the NCAA has given up on the B-Ball and Football guys, at least college baseball still feels like a college sport.

Is turnover of white house staff a new thing, I always thought those jobs were political rewards so that they could springboard to cushy board member jobs

The Waco DA just got in way over his head. I don't know that I'd vote him out of office, he made a mess. Give him an opportunity to clean it up. Americans believe in second chances (the only explanation I can come up with that explains 2004 and 2012)

ATF, to borrow the line... it should be a store, not a law enforcement agency. A couple of constables could've just served a summons to appear (because that's why we have constables)and it could've all been handled peacably. Or he could've gone all Jim Jones and taken out a Congressman or two... Probably would've prevented McVeigh, and 9/11, and most definitely president Obama. Bill Clinton is the real enemy when you think about it. At least he kept Hillary out of office and Chelsea will be well provided for for the rest of her life

The most intellectually lazy arguements I read on here are from commenters who go, but Bush, or but Obama... in regards to Kushner, how is that even noteworthy. Al Gore made a couple of hundred million pretending to care about the environment, no SEC violations to see there with some of his green investments, how about those solar companies that made mad bank then went belly up... my personal favorite is the defense contractors who made and are still making a killing in the middle east, eastern europe, etc... I already brought up "Bubba", but after they finished stripping the copper wire out of the residence, they became mega wealthy peddling access to Hillary.
It's not a swamp, it's Waterworld a la Kevin Costner and Dennis Hopper currently has the upper hand.

P.S. Rand Paul may be your only shot at dry land,

"All or Nothing", Is that like an Amazon Prime Hard Knocks rip-off?

If you didn't sound so jealous I'd almost think you were trying to be insulting.

Good luck with your promotion at the carwash. I'm sure you're doing a fabulous job sucking the farts out of car seats.
