This story is all over the place about the Plano cop who stopped a man for expired registration. When asked why that was so, the guy said he could either choose to feed his family or pay for the registration.
The cop, who is being hailed as the next George Bailey it seems, writes him a citation but slips him a $100.

This is a fairly classic "give to Caesar" situation. The cop may not have wanted to write the citation, but for some reason felt he had to because of his job. But the human being in him wanted to help.
We live in one world and have to live by its rules. But Jesus teaches us to hope for the coming of another world, and to do things that help bring that about.

He could have given a warning. He should call the cops and have the cop arrested for bribery.
Yep, the money can go toward paying for the registration. Then he can get the ticket dismissed after proof that he renewed. The cop is protecting himself, and helping somebody out at the same time.
Since when are cops paid well enough to carry around $100 bills in their pocket, let alone afford to give them away?

Just don't write the ticket and slip him the Benjamin. Then follow him to the liquor store or his drug dealer.
That 100 wont cover the citation. Just dont pay it, go to jail, get time served and free meals, and the kids still get the 100.
After writing me a ticket,a cop asked me the same question the other day.
I told him it was none of his business.

The guy who got the money told the story, not the cop. The cop sought no public recognition of his generosity. Might cut him some slack..
If they get it renewed the citation is dismissed. So basically he gave him the money to get it fixed and then some!

Everyone knows that you have a certain amount of time to get registration or inspection sticker. 10 days the best I remember, to get it and citation is canceled! Nice to know there is a cop with heart out there!!
