The Campaign For DA

Random Wednesday Morning Thoughts

  • I finally watched the new episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm.  That stuff is funny. Very funny.
  • Big girl claims she was fired for a photo shoot
  • Mark Cuban is talking about a presidential run. I'll take him in a heartbeat and I can't stand the guy.
  • Two Baylor football players have been kicked off the team for "undisclosed reasons" but the coach says it is not criminal conduct. If you might not win a game in your first year, you might as well send a message there is a new sheriff in town.
  • TMZ is pretty good at breaking news.
  • There are images now appearing of the Mandalay Bay shooter's room. They were leaked. Go find them if you wish. One is hard to look at.
  • Oddest comment from the Sheriff yesterday regarding the shooting: “I want to understand the motivation that you described, okay, to prevent any future incidents, and, you know, did this person get radicalized unbeknownst to us? And we want to identify that source.”
  • Let the conspiracy theories begin!:
  • Nothing perks me up more than Fox 4's Clarice Tinsley reading tweets.
  • Asking someone "what do you think?" shows two things: (1) You are admitting you need help, and (2) It shows them you respect their opinion. And I'm not talking about do it for show. If you never ask for advice or help, you are a fool.
  • See, I'm not the only one:
  • Our future is bright:
  • The story isn't clear on how the damages were allocated so I can't tell if tort reform laws will bring it down. But that's a heck of verdict in this day and time. (A couple got hit head on and blamed a car repair company. It's like the 1980s all over again.)
  • Former NFL Coach and broadcaster John Madden never flew because he would have panic attacks on airplanes. I used to laugh at stuff like that. I no longer do. Everyone is different. Everyone has there own issues.
  • Amazon is looking to build a huge second headquarters and the metroplex is going crazy trying to get them. Uh, Wise County? Along the south border close to Haslet? Why not?

Sorry, but Wise County can neither afford to get Amazon, nor provide the labor it needs close by.

Disappointed by yuor use of "big girl". That's not why she was fired, although her size is mentioned in the article.

The sheriff mentioning radicalized was dumb. This guy was radicalized by right-wing gun paranoia. Right here at home.

Baylor got rid of two spares but kept their leading rusher. And you thought Baylor had changed.

Right wing gun paranoia? Fry cook speculation with no facts.

The "note" on the desk in the Vegas shooter's room is a blank sheet of paper from those note pads hotels leave you..... but good old conspiracy theories are more fun.

I've always wondered how prominent, intelligent businessmen could tolerate dealing with Trump. Tillerson is example of one trying to do a job while confounded by Trump's ignorance. Obviously a bunch of his "Businesses Council" have already resigned. This is truly a cluster ... of an administration. Only a few competent generals holding the government together.

Hey Skippy, Stay Woke!! Has Trump launched nukes into North Korea yet? Has Trump fired Sessions yet?

I'm gonna be totally callous here, so this comment should fit right in. If I had to spend several days in a hotel room with all those crazy clashing patterns, I'd be leaving a suicide note on the table.
It's like they want to drive you out of the room to spend time, and money, in the casino

Sounds like "big girl" has a legitimate claim against her former employer. She didn't cause the photos to go viral. If she had posed in a halter top and shorts, or a backless swimsuit, would that have been cause for dismissal?

I read your blog and occasionally comment (sometimes with irritation), this is one of those times. Personally I am sick and tired of hearing the term "body shaming". I have friends and family members who are heavy (I didn't t say fat which would be appropriate as well) and I love them dearly but they are humble and modest enough to keep their clothes on *wear appropriate garments". No one wants to see some fat ass gal (or guy for that matter) naked or wearing revealing clothing. Seriously, who wants to see some sick looking person trying to act sexy? Once again the liberals are going to brow beat us into submission until we like.....no......almost faint with joy over everything they think is acceptable. Moreover, I do not think these people should be mistreated but for all that is good and right in this world (however much there may be left) keep your freaking clothes on if you are fat!!! What next? People coughing up a lung from smoking are sexy? Some gal with crappy teeth is the next "it" girl? The gal who refuses to shower is the next sex symbol? Love who you are (if you are a good person that is....otherwise work on it) but keep the damn clothes on........please. One more thought, shame is not always a bad thing......it used to be what separated the idiots from those who had their crap together.

If only there was someone with a gun at the concert. They could have stopped the shooter before he killed 58 innocent people. Oh, wait. There were several police officers there, all with guns. So much for the "we need more guns to be safe" theory. How about the "we don't need to be selling semiautomatic weapons of mass destruction to civilians" theory? We gave your experiment a chance, time to try a different approach and see how that works.

Liberal leftists are the ones that can't be trusted with guns.

Responsible conservatives can be trusted with any type of weapon and not leave a trail of destruction behind them.

If more gun control is what we need then why does it never work where implemented? Take a look at Chicago, you think these guys aren't going to get their hands on one after a more restrictive law is passed? All you're going to do is force it underground and the demand will be met with smuggling or illegal manufacturing. At least now most of the guns can be traced to a degree. We already have a laws against what happened, some folks just aren't going to follow them. 2016 had 762 murders in Chicago, not all were firearm but lets assume they are since so many want them banned. That's 63 per month. Were you writing these same posts every month back then? Every month? Why not? Why does this number now cause you to become involved. Where's Hillary and the others every month when the numbers come in. They're only jumping in now because of the coverage and they know this gets them coverage as well. Politicians, plain and simple.

So we need to arm everyone with the biggest weapons possible, because someone might have more and bigger weapons? Where do we draw the line? Even Ronald Reagan knew that was a losing proposition.

Facebook beefs and Twitter feuds lead to most Chicago gun violence. The young black men are using Obama phones to threaten each other through social media.

"28 DUI deaths per day in 2016. That is 10,220 For the year. Ya, better keep that focus on the shootings."

Well, gun deaths account for three times that number, so... OK.

But of course, we can try to stop both, amirate? Any reason you think we should only try to reduce one of those to things?

Rage

"If more gun control is what we need then why does it never work where implemented?"

You mean like Britain and Japan and Australia, where they have far fewer gun deaths per capita as a direct result of gun control?

You might want to go back to logic school.

"Take a look at Chicago,"

Right. Because "gun control" is effective when you can basically cross a street and buy a gun in the suburbs.

Y'all are really off your game today. I wish Wordkyle would respond to me, at least he puts up a little fight every once in a while, even if he has to lie to do it.
