The Campaign For DA

Random Monday Morning Thoughts

  • "It is 'highly inappropriate'" to get into a debate with a four star General." - Press Secretary Huckabee-Sanders after the press questioned his defense of Trump. You kidding me? Does anyone in the Administration have any idea the important roll of the press in this country?
  • This will only appeal to legal gurus: A weird Fort Worth appellate case just released on the Speedy Trial Act.

  • I think Curb Your Enthusiasm is one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. And when you can get Salman Rushdie to make an appearance (which is an old Seinfeld joke) you are on the top of your game.
  • Sports: (1) The UT quarterback is a gamer but might not be very smart. You cannot make that throw in overtime. (2) The Indiana game had one bizarre moment: They let Michigan State score from about 10 yards out so they could get the ball back. It didn't work out, but it truly was the smart thing to do.  (3) The Cowboys having to use a defensive back as a replacement  kicker was high entertainment.
  • For some reason I ended up at a UNT softball game on Friday night. There are more people at Decatur baseball games. But it was entertaining and I got to see the rare ball hit to the right fielder who was able to throw out the runner at first base,
  • The Freshman In The House called me "bro" last night. I didn't get mad, but I did pause and, deadpanning, asked the question, "Did you just call me 'bro'?"
  • You kidding me? One con man promoting the book of another con man.
  • Does he have a date and time? I'm trying to make vacation plans. (And he's trying to sell a book instead of doing his job as a pastor. Incredible.)

  • We've got a huge tree in the front lawn which either had a premature fall of leaves or is dead. (I'll find out next Spring. )
  • Some running back from McKinney High has rushed for 592 yards. In one game
  • Only $125 to see a millenial comic open for Sheriff Joe at a Trump golf course!:
  • The front page story entitled  "Dark Days" in the Messenger is fantastic. There is so much history which has been lost and stories like this need to be told. My dad had never heard of it.
  • There was a fire in a nice house in Bridgeport that caused a  fatality. My brother lived on that street about 30 years ago and I'm trying to figure out if it is the same house.
  • From the Update: "SHERIFF’S OFFICE K-9 PARTNER MISSING". That must not have been a very strong "kennel."
  • The Richardson child's body has been found. Was she moved there or is daddy telling the truth that he put her out by a tree and then she wandered off? Either way, it is heartbreaking.

Why not just call or text your brother and ask him?

The "millenial" comic for that GOP fundraiser is not quite what he says he is--and it's a really weird story that will likely intrigue you.

So if someone puts a 3 year old by a tree in the woods and in the dark, wouldn't you think after about 2 minutes, that child is going to be heading back to the house? What else or where else would the child have to go? The child knows nothing else but to go back home. So, his explanation that he put the child in the woods is lame. You can't get a 3 year old to drink milk, what makes you think you are going to get that same 3 year old to stand by a tree in the woods?????

Get Megyn Kelly off the Today show. They keep hoping to make a winner out of a total loser.

" Does anyone in the Administration have any idea the important roll of the press in this country?" - Yeah, no president has ever pushed back against negative press coverage.

A Wise County K-9 officer was still missing Monday morning after strong storms passed through Wise County.....

They probably should have used the word "partner' in this sentence too.

The UT QB made a reasonable decision, his view of the DB hanging just inside the field of play was either blocked or he just didn't see him, that's all. That guy peeled back into the end zone and made a nice play. Quarterbacking is a lot easier from the couch, or the stands.

I was like you a few years ago Barry. Cynical, hard hearted, and mad all the time. I strongly encourage you to try to cultivate your relationship with God and grow in your spirituality. It is incredibly liberating when you realize you need not carry the burdens and worries of this earth on your shoulders. I am concerned for your health.

Surely we have seen the last of General Kelly! He needs to quit before he gets more sullied

I'm sure Wordkyle bought tickets and booked his flight in advance to see Sheriff Joe. Probably read Jeffress' book on the plane. What a grand outing!

Melania Trump is lonely, racist and obsessed with Michelle Obama in this new short story

The kid's head hit the turf hard just a couple of plays earlier in OT when he got knocked out of bounds on the OSU sideline. He was held out of practice on Sunday due to head injury protocol. How about the watch the game, genius.

Hey Barry, you know what all Baylor, Aggie and Texas students have in common?

.......They all applied to Texas. AH!

Wordkyle...there was one president who attacked the press in the same manner as President Trump and we all know how that ended!!

Anonymous said...

You do realize that Decatur gave up 581 yards to one running back the very next night correct? If they would have used him on the last drive he would have broken the record 24 hours later...

Hey Skippy, Stay Woke!! Has Trump launched nukes into North Korea yet? Has Trump fired Sessions yet?

I like you Barry, but good grief, and for pete's sakes, please do yourself a favor and visit the Christian section of any Barnes and Noble. Many pastors write books, T.D. Jakes, Joyce Myers, etc. And a lot of them take cruises with people that can pay to go -- Dr. David Jeremiah is advertising one right now. I would love to go.

How embarrassing for the Decatur defense !!
How many coaches are being paid to coach defense at DHS ? Is that job open, what does it pay

When the freshman in our house calls us Bro, it is a compliment of the highest order.
Generally, we are called 'iNeed' or 'CanYou'... as in, "iNeed, lunch, please. CanYou, bring Sonic."
Please is big in the vocabulary when we are relegated from Bro to iNeed or CanYou.

Does UT (Austin) recruit for the general student body? Not sports, etc., but do they make an appearance at College Night type events, or is the application rate so high, they have no need to do that?
Real question from a real student...

Your tree looks like a Bradford Pear which is a trash tree that grows too fast. You probably need to take it down.

930 - They all did. The difference is that Trump has had to fight more, against crazed media attacks.

Even dependably Liberal Jimmy Carter agrees: “I think the media have been harder on Trump than any other president certainly that I’ve known about,” Carter told The New York Times in an interview published Saturday. Carter pointed to the reports that question Trump's mental stability as a sign the press is going too far in scrutinizing him.

When someone as far left as Carter recognizes the situation, it confirms what every sane American has known for months.

Wordkyle, I'm sure that Trump is so intelligent that he can handle these ruthless attacks, especially the ones where the press ask him to clarify his lies. Hang on, I need to put down my phone to laugh again about how smart you think Trump is.

1) You should attend the Gainesville Community Theater performance of "The Great Hanging" @ NCTC each October (it was last weekend). Several of the participants are descendants of those involved.

2) UT doe NOT send recruiters to HS College Night. They turn away THOUSANDS of applicants every year. But if they want you, you may well get a letter asking you to apply and waiving the application fee.(my kid did)

3) Take a small limb of your tree and and, using your thumbnail, peel back the outer most portion of the bark. If it is green, the tree is alive. If it is brown & hard, stick a fork in it. It's done.

Hey WK

At what point does Decatur make a change of the defensive coordinator ? Better yet surely the head coach has knowledge of his game plan. Also, why In the world is the coach rotating his sone in at QB

Anonymous said...

What's more embarrassing is the head coach thinks his son deserves reps at QB

Anonymous said...

Whatever we pay the defensive coaches is way to much

You almost figured it out. You gettin there smarty!

Anonymous said...

yes Decatur defense needs work, but those kids are exhausted...they are on the field the majority of every game. offensively Decatur has to be able to take some time off the clock and score points. losing #6 for the year was a dagger to this offense. also, Decatur needs to be playing kids both ways and quit putting kids on the field just because their parents are friends with the AD. put the best 11 kids on the field and if that means those 11 kids play both ways then so be it....also, injuries...man alive this team has so many kids on the sidelines in knee braces, do they lift weights to strengthen those muscles that support those knees. I think I counted 5 in knee braces Friday night. I have supported Decatur football for many years, but the morale of this team, the enthusiasm, it is a sad situation. How deflating to kids that work their butts off all year at varsity practice see a kid from JV get moved up 2 days before the game and get on the field. why is starting QB rotated out in the 2nd series...you could see the frustration of the players when #5 threw the pick that lead to the go ahead score...give them a chance coach

Anonymous said...

Wonder what happened to Becky Simpson?

Anonymous said...

The AD/ Head football money taker needs to go and be take his goofy wife with him

Anonymous said...

Why should the Defensive Coordinator take the fall for the AD/Head Coaches inability to lead his coaches? Offense is only on the field for a minute thirty at best. How much more should the defense have to put up with. At this point, Fuller has lost the respect of his players. Not much you can do to get that back especially when you tell the Messenger that all you can do is "try" to beat Gainesville.
